This happened to me twice in the first few months that I had my truck. I had the ANC updated to the latest Rev and haven't had it happen since.

My 2019 Ram 1500 just started this crazy noise today. Fine one minute, stopped for gas, then DANG, on restart, a loud MOAN, like the engine was straining, but rpm's were fine. Shut off radio, rolled down windows, NO Change. Got home, let vehicle sit for an hour, called Service department of purchasing dealer - (clueless), went back out to check, and problem GONE.....???? Fords (F-150) for 40 plus years, hope I haven't made a $50K mistake. Great experience up until now......if someone finds the fix, Please post. Also, a fluke with the uConnect display...went out yesterday, back on today????

Hi Outfrontguy,
We understand why this may be frustrating. If you decide to continue working with your dealer, please send our team a private message and we would be happy to escalate a case regarding your concern!

I have had a noise coming from what appears to be the exhaust. I noticed that it is there when I’m at 1500 rpms, and it’s gone when I go above or below. Could it be from the noise canceling?

I’m hearing the same noise. Heard it a few times in the beginning but have been hearing it a lot more lately. Any updates?

I am experiencing something similar. Love the "dying whale" description. Most of the time this happens at lower speeds and when letting off the gas, not when shifting down. Sometimes it happens when maintaining speed. Two times it was happening very loud and every 30 seconds. Shut off the truck and turned it back on and the crazy loud sound went away. Now it happens sporadically and seems to happen more with more people/weight in the truck. One buddy seems to think it is in the exhaust, but not sure. I monitor RPMs and don't notice anything abnormal. Was suggested to try a high octane fuel, so I will try that next and report back. I left it at the dealership for a week and they said they didn't hear it. The truck was returned with a hip-hop station on, so no wonder (thanks Ken Garff West Valley Dodge). Breaks are also squealing really loud and have been since 1000 miles. This truck... Any help would be welcome!

It's the active noise canceling system. Have your dealer update it..as for the squealing brakes, there is a service bulletin on that too. I had the same problem and my dealership installed some type of brake moan kit on the rear brakes. They have been quiet since.

I had an update done to the Uconnect to resolve issues with the radio, and it seems to have gotten rid of the noise. Unsure of what was all included in the update.

I started having this same issue. I have a 2019 Big Horn crew cab with 7300 miles on it. It almost sounds like its stuck in low gear and is very loud but the RPM's are fine. Stopping and shutting off the vehicle fixes this. It sometimes does it whenever cruising on the highway and I lightly press the pedal down a bit and sounds like a drone. Sounds like it's coming from under the truck and not the speakers or anything like that. Are we sure it's ANC? Is it something with the exhaust?

After I had my anc updated my truck stopped making the noise. It's been at least 4 months since I've heard it. It's worth a try to have yours updated.

2019 Ram 1500 Big Horn 5.7L: I too have the "Dying whale" sound coming from beneath the vehicle engine/exhaust. Happens at low and high speeds. I've only noticed this sound with summer temps. The sound revs up slowly and lasts for a few seconds and then revs down slowly. Happens mostly around 1500 RPM. truck can be going fast or slow. Slight vibration with the sound which worries me. Wondering where to look first and do I need to bring this back to the dealer for a look or update?

Maybe try turning off the MDS? Mine would make all types of noises underneath when letting off of the gas as well. The other day I read something about turning off the MDS for another issue someone was having. I tried it just to see how it would work, and the noises just went away with MDS off. Worth a try for those having noises when letting off of the gas pedal.

Also, I originally thought it was the ANC but mine was built after the TSB.

Hi JEB,

I certainly understand why this would be concerning. If you do decide to have this concern addressed by your FCA dealer, please let us know. We would like to have this documented and have a case escalated in your behalf so a Case Specialist can work with your dealer to help find a potential solution.

I have the same problem on my 2019 dodge, please let me know if you find out something. I've took it to shop but couldn't recreate the sound so that's was no help.

Was there ever a true fix to this? Mine does it from time to time, but mostly with passengers in the backseat. Thinking of ordering the bypass harness, but would rather have it fixed by a dealership.

My 2019 Big Horn Just turned 3900 miles today and just started with the "Whale Mating Noise" at various speeds and when letting off throttle just as JEB described but it was hard to pinpoint. After I stopped for gas the noise went away. I'm due for first service so I will mention this thread to the dealership and see if they will have my ANC updated
