2” Rough Country front leveling strut kit

I bet these are decent for the intended audience. Whom is the Walmart meet leveling kit crowd.

The teraflex kit is certainly better, and the non existent bilsteins will be similarly priced I assume once they actually come out.

IF anything it gets the competitive spirit going. Seems like your BDS/Factech are going after big lift kits and they left RC to play in the leveling space for these new trucks.

Checking with dealer about labor to remove pucks from North Edition and put these in. If they cut me a break, I will call RC and get a set of these ordered and report back.

My thoughts exactly. Jump on any Jeep forum and you'll learn all about the (mostly) garbage RC puts out. Poorly valved shocks, sagging springs, poor welds, etc. I wouldn't run these for free.
Exactly, What kind of performance can you really expect out of a 300 dollar set of complete coil overs from a company that is known for building budget friendly components and is currently producing everything from floor mats to lift kits.

Again, I don’t think people are buying these for quality or “performance”. It’s what you said it is, it’s a budget leveling system. And these are almost fool proof, you unbolt old, replace, and go. I can’t even count how many times I’ve seen people screw up bilstein installs even though it’s also pretty simple.

Also, it’s not like the normal stock struts are spectacular units.

I’m curious why non of the non rebel owners aren’t just buying OEM rebel setups for cheap and adding a 1” top spacer or something to it. It’s a factory bilstein unit, Hard to beat that?

Not a bad way to go if available. Probably better off with the Mopar lift as the Fox shocks are reportedly very nice riding.

As far as the RC strut assembly, you're better off with a spacer and UCA from Ready Lift if simply for looks.

I'd wait til some good kit comes out.

Isn't the mopar kit just coils spacers as well?

No

Yes, coil spacers for the rear and track bar bracket I would assume (I’ve never actually read the details on the kit lol). But it’s a “lift kit” not a leveling kit, so they are lifting front and rear 2” here. Still going to have the same factory rake.

The front though, you take apart factory strut, put your stock spring on the fox strut, reinstall. Same as you would with the standard Bilstein. The lift is achieved by spring placement on the new strut, it just sits up higher. On the bilstein units, they the bottom spring collar is adjustable. So you can turn it up or down in ~1/2” increments to get where you want to be, although most people max it out.

So while those two reuse the stock springs, these RC units seem to have their own spring. Easier to install, and could be a good thing since they have control of the spring rate and shock valving.

Interesting... and if you don't want to use the rear spacer, then you achieve the levelled look with a lift.

The major complaint with RC stuff is their overly stiff riding shocks. I would expect no less from these.

Ok, so just got back from the dealer as the Ready Lift pucks they used on my new truck ride like crap and I have a nice clunking sound that they claim they fixed.

I am thinking since the puck was not seated properly on my passenger side to start with, it f'd up the stock strut.

Anyway, I am thinking a set of RCs are going to be better than these bouncy pucks and there is no telling how long it will be before 5100s are available.

This has been so frustrating...have a brand new truck I think is gorgeous, but hate driving it cuz the ride is so bad.

That should be the case. I don’t understand what some of these people are doing on the installs that leave the trucks like this. They have to be putting the strut back together wrong.

Like the post above, how the F do you not seat the spacer correctly? I’ve literally done about 150 of these leveling kits (and this was a decade ago) and never had any issues like this.

A spacer in of itself will not worsen the ride. Increasing control arm angle and altering travel certainly can. Changing suspension angles, travel, etc, will always be a trade off to some extent in regards to the ride quality.

I would not count on those RC struts to ride anywhere near stock. Like I mentioned before, RC builds notoriously harsh riding shocks. Don't be shocked if you install be them and it rides like sh$t up front.

The other option is waiting for something better to come along. Someone posted in the Rebel section a video of some high end lifting struts that are in the testing phase. I'd expect something forthcoming for a standard Ram as well.

I have read too many posts from 5th gen ram owners experiencing issues after lifting/leveling which has made me hesitant with installing the Readylift SST 3.5" kit I purchased 5 months ago in early March. Being that my Longhorn is a Lease I will end up paying close to $2,000.00 in labor to install and then bring the truck back to stock upon the end of my lease. It's just too risky for me to chance with the potential to have Amy issues. Can anyone lead me in the right direction to which forum I can post my RL kit for sale? It's brand new in the box and I'd be willing to sell for $550.00 just to get it gone. I reside in Lansdale PA 19446 and will be willing to drive to meet anyone in the general area who is interested...

Post it in the FS section.
