Looking for campers we can comfortably tow with a 2019 Rebel 3.9 V8 Hemi and air suspension.

1540 payload on the sticker
11k tow rating
Family of 4 (kids are under 100lbs combined)
East Coast travelers
Not heavy packers

Would love to hear about what you all are pulling!

Been considering a few trailers. I don't have the little ones like you, but the couple I've had in the past year would both work for a family of 4 and you would look kickass with your Rebel. Rub some dirt on those kids!! :) Off-road trailers below are a Conqueror UEV-490 and an Outback Innovations Graveler XT. Both tow like a dream on or offroad behind the Hemi.

Conqueror is under new ownership and has new models coming to the US later this year. OBI is a new brand in the throes of ramping up manufacturing, but should be available late this year from my understanding. If you can tolerate the terrible website, check out OBIcamper.com to see the 3 models they currently have in the works. Website is still being developed; don't hold it against them. I know they have a 15ft bunkhouse hardside in the works, too.

Here’s what I towed behind my 4th gen ST, basically a tradesmen, no options with a 1360lb payload and 6900lb GVWR and I was maxed with nothing in the bed. 2 adults, 2 kids well under 100lbs and a 7600lb trailer, highest scale weight for a two week trip, was down to almost 7400lbs for shorter trips (less booze). This will be behind my 2 week old Rebel EcoDiesel with 1440lb payload and 7200gvwr in a couple more weeks, after break-in period, for the new trucks maiden voyage.

I would say for most travel trailers and these trucks you’ll max your GVWR at about 8500lbs trailers for payloads in the 1600lb range and could be as low as 5000lb trailers for the limiteds and longhorns that are high 900lb to low 1000lb payloads fully option.

Looks awesome - but too much like my popup. If I came back with this concept - my wife is sending me back to the Dodge dealer, haha!

Is your max based off of the air suspension assisting with that?

How big is your Dutchmen?

I've been eyeing up a Salem Cruise Lite 273QBXL. I think we can stay in the specs with being pretty close to, but under payload. I've been reading the opinions on the length and 1500s though.

How much experience do you have towing? That TT will be at the limits. Almost 34’ long is a lot of trailer for a 1500

1540 payload will go real fast. That 752 lb TW listing will realistically be ~ 850 lbs, dry. Because they don’t include propane or battery. So ready to camp, you’ll be at 950+ lbs. Add in 100 lbs for a WDH and you’re down to 490 lbs of passenger weight for the truck.

Also, the listing weight on the web site are for no-option campers. So adding packages will add weight. My camper was listed at 4,880 lbs on the website, (585 lbs TW) but my door sticker came in at 5,209 lbs dry.

We are ready to camp with the trailer loaded @ 6,000- 6,500 lbs. it is 31’2” long

My payload is 1380 lbs, we are right at 7,100 lbs GVW:
Passenger weight 420
Car seats 50
WDH 100
Tongue weight: 800 lbs

Payload goes quick with half ton trucks, while I don’t own a camper I do pull an enclosed trailer quite often and for long trips 1500km+ one way a few times per year and my truck handles it just fine.

My trailer is 17x7ft and is very tall just like a camper. I do not use a weight distribution hitch or sway control and haven’t had any issues in high winds or while passing semi trucks. Total weight is 6000lbs+ at times.

Id recommend staying under 7000-7500lbs gvwr for the trailer and keep cargo in the bed to a minimum, with the air suspension your truck won’t look overloaded unless your way over.

33’ ball to back bumper. 27.5’ box. The max is without air bags, all they do is reduce squat, they don’t increase abilities.

I’ll add that if you are not experienced towing or don’t have your hitch setup properly or have the wrong hitch with a setup similar to mine you’d likely not have a good time. I highly recommend the blue ox sway pro with 1200lb bars.

My sister has a similar setup, same truck with and started with an Andersen hitch that lasted two trips before ditching it as fast as possible. The Andersen could not handle the proper transfer back to the front axle and did nothing for sway.

Key is absolutely no cargo in the bed and minimal stuff in the cab for a non-white knuckle experience with a family of four.
