I just took my truck to my dealer and had them order and install the factory controller. It cost a bit more, but I didn’t have to worry or mess with it.
Most newer 25, 26’ campers will be in your weight range. A dual axle camper will usually have a little less tongue weight. A single axle has more of its weight resting on your truck.
I’m assuming you have a single axle trailer? Those things are always tongue heavy. My Epro 19, which weighs about 4000 fully loaded has a tongue weight of about 700 lbs, depending on how much water I have in the tank. It’s right up front.
I have some adjustments to make and will need to figure out what I don't actually need to take with me or decide that I'll never travel with full tanks.
I think those numbers actually look pretty good. With your wdh on, only 160 lbs off your steer axle. As long as you’re not over payload should...
When mine was installed the dealer had to flash the computer. After that it showed up on my display screen. If they don’t flash your computer, it will not show up on display.
You are right. It’s a fast way E2 hitch. Must have been reading another post somewhere. According to the stickers on camper GVWR is 4414. Payload 1076, and dry weight is 3299. I should have about 1000 lbs left. When I weighed I probably had about 1/4 tank of water onboard.
My truck also came without a brake controller, and had a class3 bumper hitch. I had the dealer install the factory brake controller and a class 4 hitch. Well worth the money in my opinion. They did have to flash the dash with new software.
Called the dealer, and they have to order it, so I‘ll go in and pay for it tomorrow.
Hopefully have it installed next week. I had no idea some class 3 and 4 hitches were not rated for weight distribution. I did not look at the hitch close enough when I bought the truck
