I got nowhere with either "get me the step for free" or "can I buy it for the price it now costs to add it to a build?" ($195). However, I was able to get the bed extender pins ordered for free (they were "a Christmas present" according to my salesman) so you should try again on that one.
Thanks for posting that! I was searching the online owner's manual available through Mopar.com and the muting feature is undocumented. Should have looked at the UConnect 4C manual.
My post didn't disappear. And I'm here to learn how my truck works. Not going to apologize for posting questions.
Someone mentioned there is a separate mute button. It's not documented in the regular owner's manual but I'll go look for it when my wife gets back with the truck.
Seems unlikely, though it would obviously be easy to go the other way. A more straightforward fix would probably be a firmware update that changes the mapping between the sensor output and the screen brightness setting. Probably shouldn't hold our collective breath.
I have a 2019 Limited with 12" UConnect. Yesterday when I was driving about 3 p.m., the rain started and sky dimmed somewhat (but this is California, we don't really dark storm clouds). The system suddenly shifted into night mode, which significantly dims the brightness level of the dash...
I don't understand the point of the radio power button on my 12" UC. In our BMW, the radio power button is basically a mute button (or play/pause button when CarPlay is connected). In UConnect, it seems to both mute/pause the audio as well as turn the entire screen off. This makes no sense...
Also, the built in UConnect software is good enough that in many cases I don't even care about CarPlay, except for one thing: when playing a podcast over the Bluetooth connection, there is no 30 second skip back/forward option (just previous/next track). The Overcast CarPlay app has big skip...
The issue isn't the time it takes to plug the phone in, it's that you have to take it out of your pocket to do so. If I plug the phone in, I often forget and leave it in the truck. When CarPlay works over wifi, as in our BMW, I never take the phone out of my jacket pocket and therefore have no...
So when I use CarPlay on our 2018 BMW 3-series, the CarPlay connection happens automatically when I get in the car, without connecting a cable. Apparently the CarPlay system in the car broadcasts its own wifi which the phone automatically connects to.
This wireless feature is not available in...
Just bought a Limited with RamBox. Our car has roof crossbars which are handy because you can install lots of different carriage accessories, like bike and kayak racks. I'd like to reuse the racks we already have, which I could do if there is a way to get a pair of simple crossbars that drop in...
My salesman said he had had others request them and his parts department says the mounting brackets are no longer available. These are the part numbers I have:
2 x 68054996AA
2 x 68054997AB
MoparPartsGiant.com affirms that those are discontinued part numbers. Do you know if those are the same...
I drove two more trucks yesterday, one with only air ride and one with only the ORG. I found the ORG suspension to be plush. The air suspension was a bit stiffer, though still acceptable. So what I experienced in my first test drive was either:
Overinflated tires
The combination of air + off...
