When it rolls out as a 2025 model Q4 2024 Gen5 styling will be 6 years old! That's not a good thing and it's worthy of messing with. I've seen no specific info on Ram's website - there's an image of a new EV chassis for the concept though.
Ram had a late start so it makes sense to cut some...
The concept looked nice and then this? Ugh!
Didn't Ram say it would be best in class across the board? I bet there's very little chance of that without starting from scratch. Slapping on a new front might enable Ram to make the cheapest half ton EV pickup. But that's about it.
From Fueleconomy's website It looks like the hemi 4wd has the same fuel economy between 2019 and 2022.
Unfortunately some builds are better than others. Some trannys run hotter, some engines are more thirsty. Hopefully it isn't a dramatic difference. I should add I've never noticed improved...
It's all good fun until the Feds get involved and the dealer sings like a bird to avoid bankruptcy.
The diesel tuners learned and now some offer street legal tunes.
Something very similar happened to mine. Probably less than 10k miles on it and the driver's side visor became loose over time. While driving in a turn the visor would strike me at the side of the head. It was pretty startling. I looked at DIYing it but was afraid I would damage the cheap...
I second Amazon. Its been a pretty good source for full synthetic motor oil. For a while they were selling 5qt jugs of full synthetic for a bit over $15 shipped.
Ditto. My best motor oil is the least expensive full synthetic 5W-20.
As long you follow the manufacturers recommendations, your engine should be fine. Engine teardowns on youtube are an eye opener. They can quickly tell when an engine hasn't been properly maintained.
Two negatives for me are richly priced and color matching. And then I tried to price an ARE and it was endless up-sell questions minus asking about paint color and in the end no price. They wanted contact info to send a quote. Oy!
I just changed my oil and filter and it was much easier using the Oil Udder. It eases the grief (teeth gnashing, cursing, paper towels, cleaners, etc) of replacing the oil filter in the 4WD Gen 5 Ram. It's thick and durable enough you don't have to worry about a slippery plastic bag trying to...
Here's a failed ecodiesel engine tear down. The main bearings spun and let go. Many times it resulted in a punched hole through the case and an oil trail along the road side.
It wasn't uncommon to see online forum user experience of catastrophic engine failures for the previous generation ecodiesel. So far the post 2020 ecodiesel (Gen 3) has been more reliable.
It's amazing to see antique vehicles start up after years of sitting. In the cold they like to heat the engine case (oil) and rotate the engine before letting it fully fire up. But there probably still an expiration (shelf life) to think about.
I recall the A/C TSB was rolled into the production design sometime in late 2020 so your 2021 shouldn't have a problem. For many it seemed weird for FCA to go into Gen 5 production with a flawed A/C design.
Agreed. It's not uncommon for a well run shop. And even the FCA online forums have several stories of previous gen ecodiesel failed engines being replaced just out of warranty.
For me it's not just the what but also how things get done. I would seek out an independent trustworthy auto shop and leave that stealership for the apologists.
In my book, with a 2019 Crew pano-glass, anything near 50F isn't cold enough to adquately cool down when the interior is direct sunlight heat soaked. And that was the case with mine. The a/c hack worked well but the TSB was a welcome relief. Thank goodness it finally became an acknowledged issue...
