That’s fine to attempt to defeat it, but again you miss the point. If it’s concealed properly, the extra time it takes to try to get around it will allow the vehicle owner to be alerted of the attempted theft. At the end of the day everything is just a deterrent. If someone wants it bad enough...
Well that’s all depending on who installs it. I guarantee you with the way I install the systems, you’re not bypassing it before the owner knows you’re trying. I’ve had several that they attempted by breaking the window like usual, and that was as far as they got. Owners just had to replace...
The IGLA isn’t necessary if you utilize the PTS disable that Compustar offers. I have installed a ton of T13/R5 units and not one of them has been stolen. None of them had the IGLA units, not to say they aren’t great systems, but none of my clients have needed any extra protection.
Had to have the back window replaced. It was a joke of a process, but it finally got done last week. I was able to get it covered so I didn’t have to pay anything out of pocket, but of course we haven’t had any rain since I picked it up. So now I just have to wait and see.
These vehicles can be stolen in about 60-90 seconds. Doesn’t matter where it’s parked, people are having them taken from their driveway right in front of their house while they are inside. The car is gone before you even know they were there. Don’t believe just because you have a transponder...
I have an alarm on my truck that disables the PTS switch, and it also has a tilt/glass sensor. So if someone tries to tow it, the alarm will go off and report to my phone instantly. I have installed a bunch of them in various Hellcats/SRTs, and I’ve even had several clients whose vehicles were...
I have been having the same issue. I decided to remove my seats and the cab wall panel so I could see where water was coming from. I have 2 cracks in my window frame and water runs in and drips from that. I did however see water entering from a seam in the cab wall. In the attached picture you...
Sorry to hear that happened to you. I have installed dozens of Compustar alarm systems in Hellcats and SRTs and TRXs because of all the theft. The system I use disables the push to start when the system is armed or after a period of inactivity. Several of the vehicles I did, thieves attempted to...
I did the Corsa kit with the resonator delete, sounds great. Initial start up and idle sounds awesome, but not obnoxious. My neighbors have even said they know when I’m going to work in the morning but it’s not ridiculously loud, they’re not complaining. Absolutely zero drone when cruising...
Yes, it is an aftermarket condition. I have a factory remote start as well, and it requires pushing the start button to do takeover. Aftermarket requires the door to be closed and just pressing the brake, not the PTS button.
Yes, this is totally normal. I install Compustar systems, and I have one on my truck as well, the radio powering down for a second is nothing to worry about. Also, make sure you close your door before pressing the brake. Truck will shut down if the door is open.
Check out Amp-Research, they make the exact product you are looking for. They have a deployable bed step that mounts near the cab and can be configured for either side, so you can buy just one, or get one for each side.
No problem, sorry you had to deal with the unfortunate results of a poor installation. Hopefully whatever comes of it, the shop will make it right for you.
Yes, I’m aware of that fact. He has the right to choose which place he wants to use. Clearly you can’t walk into a place that doesn’t install interlocks and ask them to do that. They wouldn’t have the equipment to do the job. However, around my area, there are several different types of shops...
He can certainly choose where to go for the installation. Where am at, there multiple interlock manufacturers and the clients can pick where to go. The courts don’t care what device is installed as long as you are on the program.
As far as the installation goes, push to start or key start...
I have installed interlocks on our trucks before, it is a very straightforward install. If they know what they are doing, all wires are available at the BCM. That being said, if they did go to the BCM and unplug the connectors, it’s possible one is not fully seated and engaged, or possible some...
I completely agree, I always try to encourage clients to run the 5 channel route when they have the base audio setup. The AP4 is such a good piece that it’s worth it, but I also understand sometimes there are budget constraints, and some people just want a sub and nothing more.
The AP-SUB is not an option for his truck. He has the base 6 speaker system. That only works on factory amplified trucks. He would have to run the AP4-CH41, which would require him to get a 5 channel amp since it cannot be configured for sub only on a non amplified radio. You can use the...
