The hose at the top, going through the fire wall to the heater core is always the inlet. Follow it down and clamp it off anywhere, as long as it is a heater hose going directly to the heater core.

My heater control valve stayed on, (they never even saw it) and I decided not to even mention my AC complaint, because right now my AC kicks #%$.

Been running 87 all its life, (6k miles) just put in first tank of 89, am about half way through this tank. Don't notice any difference yet. Will run a couple of tanks to check the milage, I get around 16.5-17.0 mpg with 87.
While your at your dealer, ask them to check the your ac charge as well, you may be a bit low, you should be getting cooler vent temps than that after after the hack. What about as you are driving down the road, do the temps improve?
Very interesting, what in the wide wide world of sports could be happening here? With the system producing low 40s with out hot water contamination, seems like the refrigerant fill is not the issue. Keep us posted, even if it is just your educated Theory. thank you for your contribution.
