    Tire theory

As long as all 4 tires are the same outside diameter on a 4x4 vehicle you are golden. You can throw 35" tires on a stock truck and not do anything mechanically as long as they physically fit on the truck. It will just change the way it drives a little, and throw off your speedometer as the...

    3.21 vs. 3.92

If i did it again I would get 3:21 gears, first is really low in these trucks anyway so getting off the line isn't a problem. I think the lower highway RPM is more of a benefit than the marginal improvement in acceleration. Just my 2 cents from a guy that's had a few rams.

    Why so slow?

As i understand it, the new 8HP75 is able to handle more torque than the previous 8HP70, the srt 6.4 vehicles use the same designation (8HP70) so even the old trans must be good for 500 hp or so. :) As for tuning, I am sure a good custom tuner would not have any issues. People tune new lambos...

    Why so slow?

I'm hoping for an aluminum 426, boost is good but you cant beat big v8 naturally aspirated power. It would also have enough grunt to run a taller axle ratio, to keep the economy reasonable ish on the highway.

    Why so slow?

It's only a matter of time until ready built kits are available. Any good speed shop could build you a supercharger system no problem, as the motor on the new truck is the same as the previous gen.

    Why so slow?

I meant full size, i wasnt very clear. I love the charger and challenger but although they are larger than the mustang and camaro they dont have anything like the space of a crew cab ram. Short of a CT6 or s-class/ 7 series rwd, v8 and big back seat are hard to come by. It is widely acknowledged...

    Why so slow?

sounds like you are the perfect customer for the Rebel! Base model trucks with the best motor and drive train available appeal to me, simple and less to go wrong, they also look great with smaller wheels and big tires. Then i remember how much i like my keyless entry, remote start and heated...

    V6 driving impressions

I believe the LED lights were marginal because they were too bright and caused glare for on coming traffic. I find the Laramie lights, and the limited lights to be very good on dark back roads.

    Why so slow?

we care about how fast they are, because they are our daily drivers . I use mine how people used to use full size sedans, but with the added capability to tow and haul large loads. To fill this role it needs to be comfortable, spacious, fun and quick. It is very fun to keep up with hot hatches...

    Why so slow?

https://www.motortrend.com/cars/ram/1500/2019/ram-1500-2019-truck-of-the-year-finalist/ The rams are putting out very similar numbers to the 6.2 GM trucks in motor trend testing. The old gm trucks (2014 ish) with the new 6.2 and the 6 speed were actually faster.

    Why so slow?

I haven't noticed a jump half way through first... mine will chirp the tires good most of the way through first, where my old truck would only chirp once or twice. Maybe do a bunch of full throttle launches and get the transmission to learn a little. New vehicles tend to have a lot of torque...

2019 Ram HD sheds some camo

I agree, i have read many explanations about the mexico plant etc. It just doesn't seem to tie in with the current attitude at Ram and FCA. They have been hitting it out of the park recently and a refresh on the HD trucks seems like a half assed effort. Im sure it will be a good truck, but I...

    2019 Silverado First Look

I have seen several and i like the exterior design, I think it looks fresh crisp and modern. It seems like they have made advances in the engineering of the body and frame and neglected the interior. It is not insignificant to cut 350 or 400 lbs out of a truck that was already similar in...

V6 Crew Cab Longhorn with RamBox - Overall and Driving Impressions

I have started running my hemi in tow haul mode most of the time, on the advice of my tuner. He does custom tunes on my other cars (not the new ram) and says that the way new transmissions are tuned to lug the motor does little for fuel economy in real world driving conditions, it is mostly...

    V8 or V6

less than 300 ft lbs and more than 5000 lbs is just a recipe for a gutless truck, no matter how good the transmission is. It is just physics. Everyone is free to buy whatever motor or truck they want but it seems crazy to me ! They go ok at full throttle where they are in the powerband, what...

Fuel economy with black package 22’s

I have the black package 22's and 3:92 and average 13.5 l per 100km/ 18 mpg us. This is about the same as i got with my previous truck, it was a 17 with 20's and 3:21 gears. I would say that the larger heavier wheels are never going to affect your mileage positively, however the effect is...

More Evidence Of The Upcoming Ram Heavy Duty Are The 2019 Models:

I remember seeing interior shots with a new style dash, i assume this would not be a direct bolt in from the new 1500, between that and new fenders hood and box and bumpers it seems like tons of updating where it would be easier to just go to the new better body. Wouldn't HD customers appreciate...

More Evidence Of The Upcoming Ram Heavy Duty Are The 2019 Models:

The bigger questions is, why extensively update the old cab rather than use the new one? It seems like after all the investment in the 1500, and all the investment to update the old cab and interior of the HD they would have been better off going with the new body..... I'm sure they have...

Caught: 2021 Ram 1500 Rebel TRX--we have more details.

I agree, looks like wider box sides and larger wheel openings.

    Switching from 3.92 to 3.21...

Gear changes were more of a game changer with old 3 speed or 4 speed autos, these new 8 speed transmissions have a huge ratio spread, so the exact rear end ratio isn't such a big deal. My old truck had the 3:21, but with the low first gear it felt much more aggressive than i would have thought...
