8.4" to 12.1" screen replacement

Hello guys, I have installed everything, but I got a black screen, and the ac is blowing hot air and I can't control it, please help.

Ok guys I’m kind of stumped. I did the swap on my 2019 ram. I have just a black screen. Nothing shows up or works. I have pulled the fuse, pulled the battery plug and checked my plug that I repinned to work. I used the Jscan app today and I plan to utilize our Matco tool tomorrow at work. I have a couple code that won’t clear and I was hoping for maybe some direction on trouble shooting. Thank you

No programming is needed for the radio module itself but the BCM of the vehicle will need programming to "know" there is a different radio installed.

So a module swap (from bad module to good) will require programming? If so, how in alphaobd?

I have been working on this up grade since February. Got everything installed alpha by passed and all was good for about two week. Screen randomly stoped working going black and glitching back to the screen but nothing worked to touch other than outside buttons. Then a message popped up device not acceptable. So I changed the media hub. Again all worked fine for two week and back to the glitching black to frozen screen. Any ideas?

Turn signals won't work
Compass is gone
Check in light on
A couple other light are one

I went from uconnect 4 8.4 too uconnect 4 12.1.

Any ideas

Double check your re-pin and make sure the pins are seated all the way. This should not interfere with any of your issues.

I've seen this happen when power is applied to the CANBUS and/or a short is introduced.

Need some help, I can't seem to find the answer of figure it out.

Swapped my 8.4 for a 12.4 both with nav and XM. Everything worked normal before swap.

After swap when you put it in reverse radio does nothing, will just stay on current screen. I can select the backup camera button and it's just a blue screen. However, everything else works fine on the radio.

I used the new LDVS cable that came with the radio and the short harness in the AC connector with the blue tape. Went in with Alpha to change settings.

I've pulled the battery to reset everything twice no with no success.

I verified the rear camera is good at the maroon connecter using a Camera Retention Harness and running the output into the cargo camera video. If I go in with Alpha and add the Cargo CAM, I get both options Backup and Cargo Cam, but it still doesn't seem to switch to the camera in reverse. I can use a radio harness adapter with the reverse camera video pinned out and nothing on backup or in reverse.

I'm guessing I have a setting wrong or something silly.

First post, I'm just dropping this here because this thread was very helpful in answering questions while adding the UAX to my 4th Gen 2014 Ram. Here is how you can get your radio unlock code for free...

The Anti-Theft Code is easily deciphered, get the last 4 of the serial number form the radio module (not the screen), for example; last 4 of 0313. To decipher:

100 - 03 = 97 (100 minus first two characters of the last 4 digits of the serial number)

99 - 13 = 86 (99 minus last two characters of the last 4 digits of the serial number)

Full unlock code is 9786.

I believe this will work on all UAV/UAX/UAQ/UAS radios (probably all the Canadian versions of the same as well). Credit doesn't go to me but another member on ramforum whom I had a chat with but I'm failing to remember at the moment.

For those whose screen touches aren't working (or knobs aren't responding). I'd recommend opening the radio up and ensure all cables are seated properly. When I opened mine to remove the screen, I noticed what appeared to be a ribbon cable unseated from the factory.

EDIT: Question for anyone with AlfaOBD willing to check. Can you go connect directly to the 2017+ radio navigator module -> select the battery -> read system status and tell me what is listed for the current cabin EQ curve (should be a number)?

This is my next project. I am coming from an 8.4 Uconnect 4 to a 12inch Uconnect 4. I have searched and need some help lol. Since they are both uconnect 4, do I need any special cables or do I need to repin anything? Do I need to alfapbd other than:

However, when I put the middle harness in (next to white push in connector) The flashers start going and nothing comes on the screen. My parking assist, towing and those switches do function though. You need to repin the power or get a conversion harness and the LVDS cable.

Hey, my truck is doing the same thing how do I fix it ? I have disconnected the battery and let it sit for a while now and still no luck
