I've seen numerous reviews for their coilovers being bad. Then their kits not always properly mounting right.

Ah good to know. I’ve only looked at some of his more popular suspension videos.

I’ve long been a “as low as possible, as high as necessary” guy when it comes to leveling / lifts, just based on experience and the mechanics of installing / working on IFS. Kai actually puts it into good words and visuals what I’ve long since “felt” to be right.

And everyone loves some good validation lol.

I prioritize suspension travel and get my clearance from stuffing as large a tire as possible and clearancing where needed. But I’m a Rocky Mountain trails guy, not a rock crawler.

At 55 I feel you. Every project seems so easy because I've done it before. Now one hour projects take all day.
I was diagnosed at 48 with stage four cancer and that knocked me down pretty good.
I remain grateful because I'm still alive. I was terminal and was supposed to die in 2020

Glad you're making it!! Yeah these 1 hour jobs and 3 hours later you're like WTF!! Haha

I keep going back and forth on paying for install or saving the $800ish PLUS for the install. I'm changing complete suspension since I'm over 90K on the truck.

I'm lucky getting past those 60s (biomolecular shifts) in a few months and getting into my 70s. Hopefully the shifts stop when I hit 70. The biomolecular shifts hit me so many different ways at age 67.
Still doing car washes/ waxes (no simoniz wax though and no multiple vehicles), oil changes and tire rotations but bought the light weight 3 ton jack.
And remember it's only pain.

Its a good excuse for why I'm so slow. I still have to go every 3 month for scans etc. Its a thousand times better going every two weeks.
I'm happy to be here but disappointed in the people who saved my life. That's a crazy thing to say but they gave me zero chance of living. They told me that every 2 weeks.

WoW! Thank you I do appreciate the offer. Really at this point I've gone through every possible thought and emotion.
Cancer is a wild ride and chemo and radiation every two weeks makes you wish it would just end.

ah we're the same.
travel > sky high ride height.
crawling or mountain trails or desert trails, when it comes to IFS the basic ideas are the same. 3" is max and you lose some travel, 2" is ideal and you get the most travel. Sky high ride height only makes your truck look like a 2500 wannabe, and does not offer additional travel, clearance, or performance. One good example is trophy trucks, they don't have sky high ride height, but man their compression and rebound are impressive since they utilize long travel suspension.
i mean, being a 2500 wannabe looks nice, but then when you can actually do highway speed across the desert and let your truck eat whoops for breakfast, lunch, and dinner... there's no better feeling than that.

i learned from hanging out with Dodge Truck Extreme (DTX) guys and running the desert, as well as my years in building offroad/ overland trucks. Some of the OG core DTX guys are still involved in trophy truck racing and are a wealth of knowledge, though when mickey mouse things are suggested, even if it's just an idea and not realized, they mock you until you do things the correct way. Think of it as me being 100 times unfiltered lol

stretch before doing work and stretch after doing work.
that's how the Japanese do it and that actually helps them preserve the elder master techs!
(hell, that's one thing I need to do too...

I don't think we have many difference. I agreed with you on the suspension stuff and we agreed on the switches or at least I did. I have the oem upfitter switches and harness now.
You are very passionate with your work you eat, sleep this stuff and I'm assuming you like doing it. You do see the worst on the regular, that has to be figured in the equation. No body comes to you showing off other working system. I do know others have auxbeam style units working for years. I'm NOT suggesting to buy one, but they do exist.
It's all good and I'm alive and grateful!
