Installed mine today as well .. could be "bigger" .. now there is such a HUGE open space on the passenger side -- could have left the original air box in place and just put a circular dust cover over the port where the hose was.
I can definitely hear the air suction myself .. Cover tucks up nicely into the 'divet' for those of us with the Sport hood. get a nice Ram Hood (with active vent) and remove the Cover and now we can get even more airflow.
I'm going to hook up my reader and see what the IAT numbers are. I should have done that with the stock system first for a baseline. The actual dual 4" rectangle holes where the air comes into seem a bit small .. I'm sure the engineers could have grabbed air from either/both sides of the radiator at well for even more air input .. which would more than likely require a tune.
Thoughts, anyone?

Initial results...
Have had installed for 7 days now. I can say my MPG lowered by 1-2 mpg (roughly at 10mpg average now with a 3.92 gear ratio, where as was 11-12 prior) which is expected with a CAI.
With that being said, I also run a Borla S-Type - which in cabin and from the mirrors back drowns out any potential of hearing the CAI on initial throttle. Again, what I expected.
However, opening the hood or standing near the front with hood closed I can definitely hear the distinct "sucking" sound that you would expect from a CAI - however nothing as aggressive as some aftermarket CAIs I have heard in the past. This was the last mod I planned for my Ram, at least until a plug and play subwoofer/amplifier option becomes more available.
I would say this,
- IF you are looking for performance gains - I can say this CAI absolutely feeds more air to the Borla exhaust and definitely sounds better on the mid-high end (worth it alone)
- IF you are looking for MPG increase - this is not the part for you, atleast in my experience thus far (I do tend to drive fairly aggressive but I have seen a 1-2 mpg decrease).
- IF you are looking for a loud CAI sucking noise - if you have factory exhaust, I'm sure you will hear it, slightly. However aftermarket exhaust, you are likely popping the hood to hear.
- IF you are looking for performance gains - although I have not dyno'd (no plan to in near feature) I can say typically a CAI adds b/n 15-30hp so assuming it did to mine also.
- IF you are looking to justify spending money - I'll let you formulate your own opinions
I am curious though, would removing the plastic cover from the top of filter, would it cause any issues or create problems with the filter?
- If you remove the cover, I can guarantee you would be able to hear the sucking noise a lot better. The cover almost acts as a suppressor I feel...

If you remove the cover, will that not allow all of the engine bay HEAT to enter the intake which defeats the purpose?????

I was thinking the same thing when installing mine. It’s almost like it would basically be the Vararam intake at that point right?

Could be that you are correct.. Definitely not my area of expertise, nor am I willing to try w/o someone else being the gineua pig lol
However I have seen plenty of exposed filters in CAI systems before so not sure.. Might be that we are talking apples and oranges.

That's the downside to exposed filter systems is that they can suck in the hot air. By having the cover on it only brings cold air into the intake. Can't hurt anything but it will not function as well without the cover.

Actually my dealer gives me wholesale pricing, they are honestly the best dealership I've seen as far as prices / service goes....
We just get shafted in Canada on most parts
