You will not safely tow that trailer with what you want. The tongue weight will put you way over on payload. You say you don’t want a 3/4 ton truck, but your want list necessitates it.
It is a thing. The exhaust pulses, and the cat is attached to the exhaust manifold. This is a very well known failure, and Nissan did nothing to address it.

Ever owned a Titan? I don’t think they are any more reliable than the big 3. Cracked exhaust manifolds has been a problem for them since day one, and the placement of cat converters means when they go bad, the pieces get sucked back into the engine.
I don’t know if your friend had mud tires or aftermarket exhaust, but my 5.7 with 3.92 is by far the quietest vehicle I’ve owned. It puts my wife’s Audi to shame.
I don’t know that the added protection is needed. I also don’t know if any changes were made when they made the change. I do know that VVT engines are very particular about the oil used. It would be interesting to do a study on engine failures with different grades of oil, but I’d wager 99%+ of...
Why stop at 5w-30? Why not 20w-50? It offers more protection. I will install what the engineers deemed my engine needs. If I am wrong, I have a warranty to cover me.
