Uconnect not loading properly

So I did do a restart on my way home from work today and got the same result as before. When it loads I get the home screen that jumps up and down. Shut the truck off and let it sit while I got my hair cut and then everything was fine when I started it again. Don't know what's going on but they need to fix the bug they created.

Hi everyone,
We wanted to let you know the latest from our software engineering side regarding the complaints with the U35.26 (it appears based on the range of model years in the thread that there are some of you that may be at a lower software level than this, but this message should cover you all) -- right now we are expecting a firmware over the air (FOTA) update to a U40 level of software to address many of the issues you all are facing.

Unfortunately, as of right now this update is not expected until Q1 2026 (timing subject to change at any time for any reason). We also are aware of a recent iOS update that Apple users have experienced that may have caused further issues with CarPlay functionality. This is being taken into account with the development of the forthcoming FOTA.

At this time, we are continuing to gather customer complaints of the specific issues faced, and are delivering them back to our internal teams to integrate into the FOTA update development. While we at Customer Care are not part of the actual development and implementation of the FOTA, it is important that we are able to collect your complaints and advocate on your behalf.

Thank you for providing feedback and details about what you are experiencing. We look forward to being able to provide more details when we can.

is this update for the nav only? and any size screen?

Mine keeps having issues where the CarPlay will display the map, but not the buttons to allow you to pick the music. I have to reset the radio, wait until it comes back on with the bouncing screens, turn off the truck, wait 20 or 30 minutes and then get this screen for another 15-30 minutes until things go back to normal. No telling when it glitches again, but this seems like the only way to reset CarPlay

I had this issue too about 2 months ago and was completely unusable for a full 24 hours. It ended up sorting itself out.

I had my truck into a dealership today and hopefully they found and fixed the issue with the UConnect 5 12-inch display glitching with the home screen pages jumping, no top information bar and no bottom row softkey selection buttons. Each time the radio did a reboot on its own or if I did a radio reset or if I did a factory reset on the radio - it would not boot up correctly and the screen would be doing the funny things again.

This is what for word what they service tech found and did.

Cause: "Confirmed radio glitching out. Scanned for codes and U0010 set as stored in the TBM2. Checked radio software version and it is U35.26. Checked service info and that is the newest version that was done OTA.
Correction: "Performed 2 radio resets with scan tool, then let vehicle go through sleep cycle. Cleard DTC's. Attempted to duplicate concern again and unable to. Radio seems to be working fine now."

It appears the latest software was loaded over the air and when it tried to install the new software, there was some error and did not load completely or correctly causing the U0010 scan code to be set. Therefore, not allowing the radio software to load correctly each time the radio was rebooted.
Before I left the dealership, the service writer confirmed with me that a radio rest and factory reset loaded correctly.

I hope this helps others with the issue - have the vehicle checked at a dealership. Mine was still under warranty but others may not so I don't know the cost of this. But a visit to the dealership and check for error codes is cheaper than replacing the unit if there is no warranty remaining.
So is the unit still doing O.K.? my 23 Big Horn has the same issue, is still under warranty. going to take to the dealership in a few days

@RamCares im genuinely curious, what would happen if an owners truck is out of warranty and one of these software updates pushes out causing issues which require a visit to the dealer to correct.

Is there a cost to the owner for something like that, being it was prompted thru software being pushed? Is there a way to opt out of the software updates once out of warranty?

No the unit still messes up if it restarts or if I do a manual restart. Mine is still under warranty but gave up because trips to the dealership is an inconvenience for me. Besides the problem was cause with the over the air software update the dealership has nothing to do with it. The dealership ship checked I my truck had the latest update, matching what they have.
In private messages back and forth for a couple weeks with @RamCares I decided to wait until a new update.

I did the update as well, did not try to restart the radio but mine shows the software version as before the update. Nwo that being said it did say it was a uconnect box update so I don't know if that's different from a software update.
I can confirm that the Box Update does not resolve the issue. I was hoping it would. Still having the glitches. Sounds like we are stuck with it until Q1 2026, which totally stinks.
