Active Grill Shutter Removal

Well said about the oils, however from an Automotive Machinist point of view, Aluminum starts to crack @ 230* especially around valve seats. Perhaps there are better aluminum alloys these days but if so I am unaware of such. I replaced the 203* stat in my 2003 Hemi as I was uncomfortable with that temp. Did that the first year and keep it that way until Dec 2024 when I purchased the my new one. My have suffered a minor hit in fuel mileage before the tune,

Unless you had a tune to adjust the electric fan temperature, your engine still saw 220+ temps with a colder thermostat.

Perhaps with a newer Model that might be true,
I used a 180* Thermostat with a 1/8" hole drilled in it ( to prevent air pockets at the thermostat). Observed temps were just a tick over 170*.
Tunes were just not available in early 04, I purchased HP Tuners, I think it was in early 05, when they started teasing us about supporting Dodge and I waited for many years for that support. Never happened. For those who wish to say but they do, well yes, they do for 04s and up.
2003 has the separate tranny controller and was never supported. Conversely I was able to do things that others were not such as the Torque Management Mod ( clipping the control wire between the PCM and Tranny comtrollers).
I even purchased the Diablo Handheld to checkout, stayed with the Superchips (Had better tranny programming) but to get back to your point, I never observed my fan slowing down at running temps, I guess the PCMs were quite a bit more primitive then than todays.

I did forget, the Engine Fan on the 2003 was a viscous belt driven fan. The A/C was electric.

Sorry to say, but the fans turn on at a set temp in the tune. Unless you changed that setting, your efams still turned on at the higher temps. My 2000 Dakota was the same way, except it came with a 195 stay from factory and a clutch fan. The electric fan was to assist A/C at slow speeds or to assist clutch fan. It didn't turn on until 220 degrees with out the A/C on. So unless you had a clutch fan as well as the efan, you engine would still run hot at slower speeds in city traffic or at idle.
 
Seriously, The A/C was setup on the right hand side and the Radiator was on the other, one was NOT in front of the Other. When the A/C fan went out the truck did not overheat, just quit cooling. If I had kept the truck I was looking into an electric fan to free up more HP. Tranny cooler was in front of the Condenser all on the right hand side of vehicle. Will look for pix. Unfortunately there are Thousands over the 23 years I owned the truck.

When you are dealing with clutch fans it's a completely different situation. Not comparable to any vehicle with just electric fans for cooling.
