So since I'm a clutzy non-tech Luddite, is this something I could do? Reasonably?
Yes, takes the average person about 10 minutes to install.
It took me 20 minutes because I'm above average.
...or because the steel vampire clips were so tight that they rolled themselves inside out during trim removal and had to be formed back into shape to reinstall, but I think it's the above average thing.

Just a heads up for the group. Fitcamx does not have a camera for the 2025 Limited yet. They told me it should be ready in January 2025 and put me on a list to be notified when it's released.
Did you send in a photo of your overhead console and mirror housing? I emailed them last week to inquire about availability for the 2025, and they asked for a photo. I told them I did not have one because I just ordered my 2025, and they said to send a photo when I got the truck.

How difficult was it to get the small center trim piece cover off? One of the YT vids on it seemed to be a PITA. Also, so what if you break the OEM cover, the whole thing (cover) is getting replaced anyway correct?
The hardest part is getting the factory cover off. It feels like you are going to break it, but it will pop off
And yes, you replace the entire thing

I think I will go with it even tho' some here criticize it for being "not the greatest dashcam".
I like the oem look.
Not sure what they are comparing to. Most dash cams all use the same hardware and lenses. The only difference is the package.

It's the housing they use. Their housing replaces the factory trim around the mirror and it's evidently changed on the 2025.
Well yeah, but what does that have to do with being the greatest dash cam?

Lol, nothing. However, the "greatest dash cam" comments stem from this factory looking housing around the mirror that makes it look like it came from the factory with it installed. No body ever really talks about resolution, quality of video, ease of use, they always talk about the factory integration. Ask me again in February and I can give you some real world data.
I am running one in my truck. Works great. Video quality is good. As I already mentioned, the hardware and camera itself is more or less the same for most cameras. Resolution is good, easy to setup, easy to connect, out of sight out of mind doesn’t scream I have a dash cam stuck to the windshield. Doesn’t block your view like others. Youtube is your friend.. waterfowler41 did a review back then.
