I have been text messaging them for a few weeks now. Ever since I started having this issue with 18.1.7. Still not resolved. I just sent them a screen shot of your post via text message. Like you said, I can't seem to get them to actually TALK to me. They want every communication to be either text message or email. NOT HAPPY!
tbf its a one man band. I do beleive they are reading this though perhaps indirectly, and I also heard there's a new update coming soon.

Me personally, I like text messages as it allows me to write or read a message and continue with what I am doing. I'm not tied to the phone talking to someone, who may or may not actually understand everything going on, keeping me from completing other tasks.

I'm on the latest version and it seems to be working okay. I haven’t tinkered with much though. Started with an unmarried Tazer, then applied the firmware update. Married to the truck. Disabled fog light dropout, did a full reboot, and 2 sleep cycles. Started the truck and enabled brake hold and kill3honk. Everything on the truck seems to be working normally.

The “Updating” message was often popping up, but not to the point I couldn’t navigate/use features.

I’m a little disappointed in the brake hold implementation though (first time using it). The flashing dash lights when it’s holding the brakes are fine I suppose, but the error ding when it initiates is a bit annoying. Is that the way it has always worked? I wonder if they can get rid of the ding noise or not.

I tried ParkCam, and while it pops up with the camera view as advertised when the sensors detect something, I couldn’t get it to go away? Had to shift to park to dismiss the camera view.

On a side note, my transmission is acting stupid since doing this. I read the Full Reboot resets the adaptives, but I don’t ever remember a Tazer making my truck act funky before (though it’s been about a year since I used one). It’s now holding gears way too long and downshifting too soon.

TazerDT would have nothing to do with transmission.

As far as the brake hold feature, it's only been around since the previous version. I guess it can be annoying, but also a nice audible indication as you may not always be looking at the dash. And I have found that I have to purposely push down harder on brake after coming to a stop for it to engage. If I just do my normal brake pressure to hold truck still, it won't activate

I know the Tazer doesn’t directly interact with the trans, but resetting the adaptives clearly sent my trans back into a learning mode, and after 8 miles of city driving it still isn’t operating how it was. Hopefully it just needs a little more time to adjust, because right now it’s maddening cruising along 1 gear lower/500 RPM higher than where it should be.

Every other car I’ve had with factory brake hold has had no prominent indication the feature is working - you’ll get a small light on the dash, and that’s it. Here we have flashing lights (which are VERY obvious even if you aren’t looking at them), plus an audible. The audible needs to go, but it may be an undefeatable side-effect of them using ABS to hold the brakes? Then again, they seem to be able to do a lot of magic with this thing, so I’d imagine they could stop the ding.

These trucks never had brake hold from the factory. As you said, the ding is probably due to how they get it to work, and causing an ABS fault ding

What’s the purpose of brake hold?
Seen the option but never tried it.

Push the brake down at red light until you hear ding and lights on dash flash. Take your foot off brake and it will hold the truck without needing to keep foot on pedal. Then when time to go, just push on gas pedal

I guess if your stopped in traffic for a bit it would be nice but that’s rare in my driving. if I do stop long enough I’ll just use park. Not real appealing to me but I’m sure it works well for others.

My wife's Traverse has hill start assist that works similar. On hills, it applies the brake so you don't have to hold brakes and won't roll backwards when you remove foot from brake before hitting gas pedal.

My wife's Traverse has hill start assist that works similar. On hills, it applies the brake so you don't have to hold brakes and won't roll backwards when you remove foot from brake before hitting gas pedal.
We have that on our RAM’s. Or is that just on certain packages? I also have Hill Descent Control but that’s completely different.

Must just be certain trim levels. My Built to Serve with Bighorn. Level 2 doesn't have it. I mean, the engine makes enough torque to hold it on hills at only idle. But it's not using brakes.

Hill start assist is standard on all rams. It’s like the 5th or 6th line item under standard equipment on all build sheets. It’s a setting in the radio under safety/assistance.

I had this option on my previous car and I miss it on the RAM, so nice that with a Tazer DT you can do so.
I already put it a few times in N when there are many red lights or long queue at a traffic light. So happy to hear this option exists.

Went for another drive and it still ran like crap. And I started to notice something weird - even after disabling brake hold, my truck was holding the brakes for about 2 seconds every time I took my foot off. Well I about went into panic mode thinking this version f’d up my truck. Started thinking about how I might fix this, and it hit me… the braking behavior was oddly similar to Hill Start Assist (ironic it was just being discussed). Then I got to thinking, the trans could be acting like I was constantly driving up a hill (high RPMs, holding gears longer than it should be).

There’s a small blurb in the manual about doing full reboots on level ground, with the wheel straight, and foot off the brake. That **** needs to be taken as gospel. When I married my truck and did a full reboot, I was in my driveway which is on a mild incline/decline (I was declined at the time, but maybe the direction doesn’t matter). Just pulled into my garage which is level ground and did another full reboot. Voila, truck is acting 100% normal now.

On a side note, the brake hold option did trigger a uConnect email alert saying there was a fault with the brake & ABS systems. Potential nuisance if you decide to use the feature.

Been texting with Joe and he finally asked me to send email so they'd have my information. He said Uconnect 5 has been a thorn in his side because it's constantly sending messages on the bus and interferes with Tazer operation.

So, I’ve been running 18.1.8 since it was released, and it’s worked fine for me. But I just got home and jumped out to check the mail in the rain, and the f**ker honked three times at me. I got back in and confirmed that the Tazer menu showed Kill3Honk was set to ON.
So I’m scratching my head now. I think this thing is just moody or buggy.

18.1.6 has been working perfect so sticking with that one.

18.1.6 has been working perfect so sticking with that one.

On my '22, 18.1.6 works great and 18.1.7 or later doesn't work at all. However, NONE of them allow the Kill3Honk feature to continuously work. It'll work first time I step out to check the mail, after that it stops working again.

Uconnect 5 has been out for quite a while now. I'm starting to think that it's going to never been consistently compatible with all the Tazer DT has to offer.
