I called Mopar Recall today. They are apparently going to send out official notices in early December for all affected vehicles. But if you want to get on the list now for a new pump when they become available (who knows when) call them at 1-888 528 4364 (option #3) and give them your information. Have your VIN available. They will take your info and update you by email. I have 11k on mine and hopes it holds up until the parts are available.

I will just called that number and was told I have to do it through the dealer. I also asked “when Ram sends a letter in the mail, is it the dealer that initiates that”? They said yes.

Did they take your email and phone number? My next call is to the dealer...

No. I’m just going to wait until I get something in the mail. There’s a high possibility I’ll trade this truck in next year. I’m planning on ordering a TRX (or buying from a lot if I can) in 4 months.

Just spoke to my dealer. They are replacing the fuel pumps now. He said he was only allocated two at a time. He said he was only allowed to fix 2020’s at this time. He said there is no “waiting list”. He said the fuel pump is a different pump.

He said that if the pump fails, “everything that touches the fuel has to be replaced” and that repair takes about 8 weeks. When I asked about the EDT, he said he doesn’t recommend additives of any kind.

Are you sure your dealer wasn’t confusing the fuel pump recalls, because what he’s talking about sounds like it’s for the Cummins fuel pump- only 2 kits per week, and only 2020’s.

He can’t recommend anything non-mopar aftermarket because it opens the dealership up for liability.

The Cummins trucks involved are 2019 and 2020.

In this case they're probably doing the oldest EcoDiesel Gen 3 trucks first, hence 2020 only at this time.

Exactly. The manual says that additives aren't recommended, so that's the same thing you'll hear from the dealers. However, we all know that lubricity can reduce the odds of the CP4 eating itself alive and creating metal shavings that ruin the system. It sort of puts the owners in a bad spot. If you use additive you *may* or may not kill your warranty. However, if you don't use additive you're more likely to have to get a pump replacement at some point in time. It sucks....

78,000km on mine and no issues. I'm not going to worry about it. When I get my notice of recall I'll call the dealer and set up an appointment.

I was just at the dealer yesterday having the DEF update recall done. I was in and out in 30 minutes and didn't bother asking about the HPFP.

Just for the recall notice in the mail for my 2020, has anyone confirmed the “fix” Is a new pump? And if it is a new pump what has been updated?

Add me to the recall list -- 2020 ecodiesel Limited, just got the official Mopar notice in the mail yesterday. I tried to access the "notify me when parts are available" part of the website but got a message it is down for maintenance. I suppose it will be down until they get the replacement parts, but who really knows. As long as I don't have any failures with the HPFP, I will probably wait until my dealer has done a number of the recalls. They are usually pretty good but practice can only help.

Got my letter yesterday. Letter said they would send another notice when remedy available. Seems odd to have a recall notice without remedy. Ordinarily try to avoid dealer whenever possible, but Kalifornia DMV requires the Def software update before they will register the truck (July). Maybe by then they'll have a remedy...

That’s pretty messed up to leave open recalls on a vehicle for almost a year. That’s going to screw people who decide to trade in.

The recall applies to new ownership or second hand vehicles, unlimited miles.
I think I didn’t describe my point well enough. Dealers will value the trade lower because they have to close the recall before retail selling. Floor plans commonly dictate that the dealer will pay interest monthly (which most dealers break down to the day). The dealer will already have an exit strategy for that vehicle to be sold or go to auction after 90-120 days. Therefore, it makes no sense for a dealer to take a trade that needs a recall that can’t be completed for almost a year.

Was not aware of all that, I know dealerships usually make good money on trades but being stuck holding onto vehicles would not be in their favour.
I am very happy with my Rebel Diesel, I would be hesitant to purchase a vehicle with an active recall, a ticking time bombe recall, I know it’s a very small percentage of failures.
I will be going on a 6,000 mile trip in the first quarter of next year and will be towing a small camper, the recall is expected to be fixed in the second quarter of next year, I am not canceling my trip, if a pump failure happens I’ll deal will it then.

As stated elsewhere in this thread (and others?), but bears repeating: the recall is due to friction issues internal to the pump. Using a lubricity additive should not be required, but is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Some brands (and they include cetane boosts and injection cleaners, all recommended. (Again, by me. ;) )): Diesel Kleen, Amsoil, EDT Hot Shot. There are others. Pick one, and use it!

1. I have no concerns about my pump imploding. I have religiously used lubricity additives and will continue to do so, even post-recall.
2. Despite the above, yes, I will have the pump replaced. Why wouldn't I? As stated, I will use my lubricity additive/cetane boost post-recall. (I've been using Diesels since 1983. I have nowhere near the experience of a big-rig driver, but I've owned/used ~10 Diesels, continuously, since 1983. Give me a little street cred.)
3. 6,000 mile road trip? No problem. Don't even worry about it at all...except when you're filling your tank and trying to find your lubricity additive. ;)
4. If my recall gets delayed for years...I will not change how I operate my truck.

This all comes down to the ULSD fuels and how astringent they are.

YMMV. IMHO. Etc.

Edited to add: If I'm on a road-trip, and I'm going to go through just a few tanks of fuel, I don't worry about the additive. 6,000 miles? Up to you. But, beyond a few (3 or 4) tanks, yeah, I'll bring a jug of my additive and a funnel.

I received my letter as well and this one concerns me a bit. Ill be rolling 65k miles today and thus far the truck has been issue free. January-April I have 800-1500mile trips planned each month and losing the truck would simply suck. Also.....my truck has never seen a drop of any additives. I always fill from the same station and have never had issues but i guess time will tell. I've been running VW TDIs since 2012 and now this truck , never a drop of any additive in any vehicle but none really saw crazy miles. 160k I did on a Jetta before it was bought back. 90k on a golf (we still have it). The station i use is supposedly sells top tier diesel and I will say compared to other stations I notice a difference in startups and fuel economy so its gained my trust so far.

I don't disagree these additives are highly recommended but I guess ill be the guinea pig to see how far a pump will go with 0 additives.....Ill be calling my insurance company today and making sure I have some solid rental car coverages.
