I have the Course mount. Yes it is that easy. Remove the rubber liner from the upper tray, remove the two screws, grasp the top of the bezel and give it a swift, but not hard, pull toward the rear of the truck...super easy and reassembly is just as easy.

You guys are killing me. I guess I'm buying the course mount and hopefully not breaking my radio. I've taken dashes apart before, but never with a giant screen mounted in it. Usually the bezel comes off and the radio is left behind to come out separately. I'm going to assume they've got some sort of rigid structure back there to support/protect the screen from twisting/breaking during removal of the bezel.

Thanks for the input.
What I'm seeing online looks like it's basically just remove the 2 top screws and pull. Sound about right?
That's what it comes down to. Watch a youtube video once or twice & give it a shot. When you are pulling, don't pull it out to the back seat, remember there are some cables still attached. Get a firm grip and ease into it. You got this! I went through this pulling the overhead console out & the center cluster. No Fear

Course has a video if you scroll down the RAM mount page a bit.

I love my Course mount - great spot, out of my main field of view, and no modifications needed.

I agonized for weeks over which mount to get. It came down to Course Motorsports and Pro Clip. I went with the Course and couldn't be happier. It's very solid and takes a good jolt to make it vibrate on the mount (I have the Mag Safe).

Yeah, I was debating between the same two. Still waiting on my Course mount to arrive.

I'm hoping to adapt it a bit though. I prefer the holders rather than the mag mount, but I didn't want to pay $100 for it. I don't need the wireless charging that the holder comes with because I'll have the phone plugged in to a usb so I can use Pandora via Carplay. A cheap holder option without the extra cost of the QI would be nice.
What I did was bought a cheap ($10) vent mount that had a holder. I'm hoping that Course is using a common size ball, and the cheap holder can be clipped in rather than using the mag base. Then I'll have the holder I want without wasting money on a feature that won't be used.

Course uses a 17mm ball. I ordered a cheap magnetic vent mount like you, and it fits the Course ball.

Simple, Carlinkit. Look on Amazon. Gives you wireless Carplay. I hate that these trucks have so much tech in them, but they couldn't be bothered to add something as simple as wireless Carplay. I actually use Android, so I have the Mag Safe mount for charging, and the cable run behind the stereo to the 12V plug above the radio. I then have the AAwirless plugged in beneath the radio and hidden behind it. No wires hanging, no need to constantly plug and unplug the phone. Win win in my book.

Well that's good to know. Exactly what I was hoping for.

Yeah, Uconnect 5 apparently has wireless Carplay, but I've also heard that system has some issues of it's own.
I may try that wireless link at some point. I just wish it was more like $50 instead of $100+ since I'm only using it for music.
I can easily enough use Pandora via bluetooth without going through Carplay for free. With it mounted on the Course mount it shouldn't be any less convenient than navigating the channels with the phone vs the radio screen. However it seems the sound quality is slightly reduced via bluetooth which is the only reason I've been using Carplay. Well, that and the fact that I don't have a mount yet so it's a pain (and dangerous distraction) to pick up and manipulate my phone to change music. With the mount, the only difference should be sound quality of wired vs bluetooth.
Is your sound quality the same as wired when using the wireless Carlinkit?

Could you post a pic please? I have the course mount & use a usb wire since the Bluetooth/wireless option has always failed on both my 21 & 22 model. Even with the wired connection, it will drop & I will have to replug it back in several times on both long & short trips. Drives me crazy. Does that happen with your car link kit ever? Thanks!

Honestly, I don't really use it for music often. I mostly use XM for music. I use mine primarily for the navigation. I absolutely despise the RAM navigation. Now I can just hold the speech button on the steering wheel and it accesses Siri (Google Assistant on Android) instead of the RAM system. Making calls and using Nav have never been easier.

I have not had any issues with mine dropping out at all. Here are some pictures of how I have mine setup.

As you can see, my USB comes out the bottom of the phone mount and goes immediately behind the radio console.

From there it stays behind the radio until it comes out right at the 12V Power above the radio. I use a short dual USB adapter, so I can plug other devices in if needed, and the plug sits virtually flush so it doesn't stick way up.

I have the Carlinkit (AAWireless for Android) plugged into the driver's side USB-C plug below the radio and have the little box tucked behind the radio console. From a seated position, I can't see the plug or cable at all.

This is what you see when seated in the truck.

This is by far the best setup I’ve seen! Thanks so much for posting pics & giving such thorough details! Looks like I’ll be upgrading my standard Course mount to this one. Sorry to be a copycat, but this is a great setup. So tired of mine disconnecting all the time. I listen to music a lot bc I’m driving a lot for work, plus I prefer the phone maps with Spotify - 12k in the past 2 months, & it dropped 6 times yesterday on a 25 minute trip after this last update. 🙄

I've actually never had any issues with my OEM nav. I like the voice controls just fine, and map route options work great. I use the hands free voice commands of Uconnect all the time.

Anyway, that is a nice set up. Just curious though. If you're using the Carlinkit why are you plugged into the Course mount?
I was envisioning the little box plugged into the media hub and that was it. No need for the aux outlet or anything wired to the mount. Am I missing something?

The course mount is plugged in to charge the phone. It is only run to the 12V above the stereo. I have the Magsafe mount that charges the phone while it is mounted. The Carlinkit is plugged into the media hub and hidden behind the stereo. If I wasn't charging the phone with the mount, I wouldn't need to have anything plugged into the mount.

I do like the Uconnect 5 OEM nav, the 4 I did not like. But what I like about using the Apple Maps/Spotify is that I can see what music is playing & skip through the songs or whatever without having to switch screens. Just more streamlined.

Ah, that makes more sense. Thanks.

Which is exactly why I want to use Carplay instead of just using bluetooth to stream Pandora. I only have 1 giant screen to be distracted by rather than having to squint at my phone and try to press little buttons to change songs/stations.

I got my mount today. Install was about as easy as it gets. A little unsettling to hear those clips let lose, but I didn't break anything.

I ran the wire from the media hub, along the knee panel and up along the dash cluster. I kept everything tucked in using some self adhesive clips that I bought when I installed my cab lights. This is a fairly clean install while I decide if I like the location of everything. Once I run with it this way for a while, I plan to remove the clips and tuck the wire behind the panels for a more seamless look.
The end of the wire is just tucked behind the mount in this picture. It's not actually plugged in. It's just a cheap $10 mount so no plugs. I figure it tucks there somewhat discrete and is easy to plug in when I want to.
I'm also considering buying that wireless adapter and having no wire at all. I can just plug it into the media hub and then drop into the storage bin, or tuck it behind a panel. It depends on how big of a pain it is to keep plugging the phone in to use Pandora.
