BTW for those wondering, You CAN actually use a hard folding tonno cover with the MFT. There's a guy online (retailer) that shows its possible. Well, I contacted him. He charged me $100 for a text message containing 3 pictures and instructions on what to do. Yes, highway fking robbery. My 100 gone is my gift a now knowing to you all. I'll be more than happy to share my knowledge for those desiring to keep this *** another $100. PM for info

You take the front rail and cut a 11" long 3/4" deep cut out of the rail to it sits perfectly on top of the right on bracket. There ya go.

My truck and all trucks of my year don't even have a bracket.
It's better to know what truck people are talking about as they are all very different depending on year and build.

No, but there could be a thin strip that i can not see, might be why the company that i orderes my cover from said they will not say its water proof if i have the MFT. But i was thinking that was because of the gaps at the MFT. So i odered rhe weather seals for the MFT off of Amazon

The black rails my truck came with had a weather seal built in (not stick on)

That's why I swapped from the soft trifold my truck came with.
Problem is water just pours in from the sides to the point cargo is secure, but not dry because of how much water gets in. My cargo divider had water half way up because the water was actually splashing during a rain storm that it splashed up. Kinda surprising to be honest how how it was (in the middle of my bed)

I found this thread BakFlip MX4 & Rambox fitment? that discusses the silver rails leaking and they used a different weatherstripping then me.

Next weekend i'm going to bite the bullet and spend the 3 hours removing my cover and rails and ill just use a bead of Black Silicone because I don't want to be screwing around with this anymore

I’m sure I could find it somewhere in the 42 pages but anyone successfully install a Bak Revolver X4S with MFT and no ram boxes. I imagine the right on brackets are needed. Any other modifications?

I was just about did on getting that cover too. Don't want to spend more $ on other rails or adapters to make it compatible though.

Initially looked at the diamondback, then renegade (no ram box option though), and then thought the X4S would be the go to option. Back to the forums and online searching.

I didn't search all 43 pages of this thread yet!

This thread is primarily for trucks with MFT and NO Ramboxes I believe. They are two very distinct situations. The extra bulk from the Ramboxes either prevented Ram from needing to add the L bracket, or allowed it to be hidden, so Right On brackets are a non-issue for you. I also believe the black vs silver rail situation is unique to Ramboxes.

To that end, I believe almost all covers work for you just fine with the Ramboxes. The problem with the MFT is solely due to the L brackets, which only affects those of us without Ramboxes.

He needs to completely remove his rails and purchase new rails.

The ONLY COVER that will work for him with black rails is the Mopar SOFT Tri-fold cover.

These are the "silver rails" that are so important that Ram decided to not provide them to you when you bought your tuck.

Another interesting thing is there are install instructions for the black rails but not the silver rails, so I have no idea what is used to get a "factory seal" it also doesn't come with screw so you need to re-use your existing screws in your black rails. Specs on the black rails report 7.7 ft lb torque.

Title says it all. Went to install a Gatorax retractable bed cover today and it's not possible to mount it on my truck. The instructions for a 2019 ram with ramboxes doesn't match my truck and upon looking myself I don't hlknow how ANY Cover can fit except the soft one it came with. Anyone...

I'm currently pissing in water on both sides behind the rails as Ram doesn't provide any kind of seal and the black rails have a seal built in. The weatherstipping I got just isn't up to snuff and it takes me around an 2 hours with 2 people to take my cover off and change the weatherstipping (and then keep the truck dry for a few days so it has time to set).

I'm 1000% not salty about buying a $80k truck and needing to spend $400 on rails to be allowed to use a secure cover on it.

If you don't need security get the Mopar soft tri-fold. It's actually a really good cover and comes right off in under 30 seconds if you need full bed access. Unfortunately I can't use a soft cover due to having snowstorms up here and carry equipment that dwarfs the price of my truck that would be very bad if was stolen by some hoodlum with a box cutter.

I really find this truck to be quite well designed and absolutely love it. The multitude of ways that Ram made the truck incompatible with tonneau covers is quite dumbfounding, however.

Bakflip MX4 fits. You have to modify the bakflip rails to make it work tho. I posted a few pages back on it.

Appreciate the feedback. Spending another $400 for the silver rails to work with other covers bumps up the overall price by about 40% just to put a cover on, so about $1,400 for a variety of covers. Then, there is the potential weather striping issue. Unless another option becomes available, I may just go ahead with the Diamondback...it's just a little more. Not a big fan that it is about a 3" rise over the bed though. Liked the sleek look of the flush covers.

I would recommend you make a new thread about the Diamondback, I love the way those ones look I don't mind the rise over the cover but i have never actually owned one.

Thanks and sorry you are going through this same situation. I may just have to start a specific thread for the Diamondback. Would prefer a Renegade cover, but it's a no go with Ramboxes...and that doesn't even consider the black vs silver rail situation. Hard to imagine why all these trucks didn't ship with the same rails and make the stock Mopar folding cover work with say....the silver rails. Then they only need to make silver rails and customers would be in this situation for upgrades.

Another future upgrade, tailgate LED light bar (Putco blade) I'm looking to put on...similar situation. According to the threads, I'll likely have to put in some spacers to compensate for a non-flush mounting surface. Not just buy the item and put it on. I guess that's part of taking some pride in making it all come together, but still.
