This thread is bonkers. I didn't know so many children owned Rams. 😆

Seriously, though, it seems like there's very little practical difference between the two axles. A 3.21 seems to be able to tow anything the 3.92 can tow, and the 3.92 seems to get nearly the same MPG as the 3.21. The one case the 3.92 seems to have an advantage would be starting from a dead stop up a steep grade while pulling an 8,000 pound trailer. The one case the 3.21 seems to have an advantage is high speed travel on the highway with minimum payload of any kind and maybe even removing the bed of the truck, the tailgate at the very least.

Just be happy with your trucks, folks! I recently got mine after driving a Honda CRV for years. The CRV was great but obviously not good for hauling stuff around. The Ram has been awesome. I got a 1600 pound load of concrete block the other day - can't do that in a CRV. I rented a mini-skid loader and also a tree stump grinder over the last month. Couldn't do that with a CRV. The mini skid was 5,000 pounds plus trailer weight and that was fun to tow around - took it over my dad's after using it at my house and had to tow it up the steep-*** hill to his house and it was no problem! That's damn cool! Long term we're thinking about maybe buying a camper trailer, short term we're looking at renting one for vacation next year. It's awesome to know the truck can easily handle towing one of those around. And I frigging love the crew cab. My god there's a lot of space for passengers.

I noticed someone said their MPG dropped from 19 to 18 now that "winter fuel" is here. Thanks for mentioning that, I've had the exact same drop in my MPG but did not know what to attribute it to!

It seems worth mentioning my neighbor for a moment. He's got a 2012 Nissan Titan. It's got less HP, less torque, and lower fuel efficiency than my Ram. But by god that guy tows around unbelievable amounts of crap - he's a contractor. And there is no doubt he exceeds the maximum allowable trailer weight on probably a weekly basis. He's got a 14,000 lb GVWR dump trailer that he fills to the brim with whatever he needs and tows that thing around all the time. He actually, just about a month ago, snapped the frame on that truck and had somebody weld it back together, then went right back to towing around that trailer, fully loaded. So I think anyone with a Ram 1500 with either the 5.7 Hemi or the 3.6 Ecodiesel should think about that for a minute and just feel good about the truck you're driving. It's got enormous capabilities, regardless of what axle you've got.

Awesome! I love my truck 3.21 and your fuels gone! Lmao who cares, fuel mileage is the last thing I care about.

Just to get us closer to 1000, I agree and I'm happy with what I got.

And a 3.6L Ecodiesel would be sweet. 312hp and 576tq! ;)

It's OK. We understand. Let it all out.

The humiliation you must feel when your wife is berating you for all you do wrong as you have to carry her purse through the Walmart has to be hard enough. Then you to go back out to the parking lot and climb into the closest thing to a truck she would allow in the driveway....

I bet the real kick in the gut is when you are driving her home and you see the real truck in the parking lot at the strip club. She sees that longing look and starts berating you all over again. Probably takes the little tiny satchel out of her purse that she keeps your balls in and threatens to toss them out the window as tears stream down your cheek. Man, it must be tough.......

If only you had had the nerve to stand up that one time. Take that satchel back from her, as tiny as it is. You could have gotten a 4x4 with 3:92 gears and been a man for once. Sadly, it will never come to pass. 🥺

We're getting closer to the 1000 posts of unless nonsense, come on, we can make it!

It actually didn't bother me that the "real truck" with it's 3.92 gears was at an all male strip club. My wife, that isn't my sister or cousin, laughed and said he must be "1/2 a man"to need "real truck" and he probably lasts as long as a 3.92 truck in 1st gear.

We got ya BD. The riddle is solved. You say your wife isn't your sister or cousin. Ok (in creepy Joe Biden like whisper) we get that she's your mom. Don't worry, your secret is safe with us. 😎 It does explain a lot though.

Unpossible, I don't have a 3.92 4x4 truck. That's a requirement for dating then marrying your mom, sister, cousin and your brother that's also your dad, that and the set of truck nuts the 3.92 guys buy for some reason.
BTW, I'm fairly certain that you put the truck nuts on the trailer hitch, not wear them as a necklace. At least that's the way all the rest of the jacked up, 4x4, 3.92 mall princesses have them.

Now, take Dem 3.92's and give me 10 Carolina Squats.....another hallmark of the 3.92 crowd.
"Hayy Mann, look at ma here truck, it's squattin like your dog".

Look at this, my dog just made a replica of your carolina squatting 3.92 truck

I see that your mom, I mean wife, forgot to show you how to use spell check to help you overcome your illiteracy. Ask her to adjust the kids setting on your phone so it works. I'm sure she has the parental control password.

Hop back in that pretend truck and go get some more Legos. Don't drive through the sand box. You don't want to get stuck!

10 more posts of nonsense to go!

This threads first post said it was a post to end the debate between 3:21 vs 3:92 gears. Now we are at post #998. Despite the absurdity and sometimes downright rudeness of some posts. @Neurobit summed it up best in the second post......

Great explanation, although it will not end the debate, as folks feel they need to defend their purchases to the death regardless of facts.
Thanks for putting the time and effort on this write-up. Should be a sticky.

Cheers,

I won't be the one to do it!

Maybe we should stop...just short?

What do you say?
