The farther the wheel moves away from the hub, the greater sheer stress is placed on the wheel studs. This could cause failure of the wheel studs. It’s not normally a problem under normal conditions, but can be an issue under extreme stress situations like drag racing or towing with maximal loads.
For the type in the second image, there are two additional potential failure points compared to the spacers in the first image.

It’s no worse than having wheels with a more negative offset. As long as you get hubcentric good quality spacers you’re fine. Dually Rams run spacers (adapters) from the factory and are rated to tow 35000lbs. He’ll be fine. However I would suggest getting 1/2” longer wheel studs to make up for the 1/2” of threads you’ll be sacrificing.

That little bit of tint most likely won’t do much to lower the cab temps. I have 20% all around and it still bakes.

It all depends on the quality & type of tint you use. 20% crystalline is better at rejecting heat than many other cheaper 5% tints. And in my opinion if the end goal is to lower cab temperatures then you have to tint the windshield. Sooo much heat comes thru the windshield that even with dark high quality tint on every other window it will still be hot from all the heat coming thru the windshield. I have 60% crystalline on the windshield and 5% ceramic on all side windows and 2 layers of 5% ceramic on my back window and it’s drastically cooler than stock. Even in 100 degree weather my leather never feels hot to the touch, just warm.

Ha ha, I knew somebody was gonna pull that example out. I don’t have the energy to debate stuff designed by manufacturer versus aftermarket. Everyone’s free to do what they want.

Every truck with semi wheel conversions run spacers, they all tow things just fine, failures come from people not regularly checking the torque or running work suspension components.

The spacers = bad is just a forum myth. Like anything else preventative maintenance is key. I ran them on a truck for almost 100k and zero issues.

I know exactly how it feels. I bought mine end of May and I'm already at 12k. I'm taking a 700 mile trip this weekend and then Thanksgiving week going to Aspen CO. Then Christmas week going to Ft Collins CO. I expect to have about 16k by end of year.

Finally stuck the bed rug down with the Velcro and installed a MOLLE panel. Apparently it will work with the OEM tie down rail so I will have to try that out.

I ordered a used, like new condition set off Amazon for $25 as a test for buying something that was returned. I’m expecting I’ll have to return them for a new set, but it will be a pleasant surprise if there’s nothing wrong with them.
