How was your transaction experience? I have an offer from them that's $2-3K higher than what any dealer has been willing to give for trade-in, but am leery of the gap in time between when you hand over the vehicle, title and keys and actually get paid.

Pretty smooth for the most part. I am not sure what part of the country you are in. I am in Columbus, OH. I had a little problem with the local towing company that was assigned to pick it up. Vroom assigned the pickup to a logistics company in Atlanta. The logistics company contracted with a local towing company to pick up the truck and deliver it to an auto reseller. Vroom indicated that I would get paperwork from the tow truck driver. The tow truck arrived on a Monday. The driver said that the paperwork would be emailed to me. I did get the email. Vroom also indicated that I would receive a bill of lading which I would submit to them so they could process the payment.

On Wednesday I still did not have the BOL. I contacted the towing company again and they were confused. They said that the logistics company would handle that. I contacted the logistics company and they said that the towing company is responsible for the BOL. I finally called Vroom back. They were very helpful. They tried contacting the logistics company while I was on the phone with them but got no answer (probably because they were gone for the day). I gave Vroom the towing company information. They tried contacting the towing company while I was still on the phone with them. The towing company did not answer but the Vroom customer service agent left a voicemail. The towing company called me back (instead of Vroom) and sent me the BOL. I forwarded the BOL to Vroom. Vroom processed the payment to the bank that I had my loan through and the payment to me on Thursday. I had the check in my hand on Friday.

I just purchased my 2021 1500 BTS edition about a week ago. Sadly the dealer wouldn't give a dealer discount. But I started with an MSRP of 53,380. Then received the $2250 ram rebates, $3500 off for affiliate rewards, and another $1000 for having a PenFed credit union account. That put me at 45.6k. They ended up giving me sticker for my 2020 Challenger that I bought about 10 months ago. Which was 5k more than I paid. The dealership came within $600 of what Carmax offered me and $800 of what Vroom offered. With what I owed on my trade and then TTL I ended up at a little over 39K OTD. I can't complain. They basically paid me to drive the Challenger for a year. I wasn't planning on buying a new truck just yet. But I kept seeing how much used cars were fetching and took the plunge.

My initial contact to Mark Dodge hooked me up with a different salesperson that wasn't giving a very good discount, similar to your description. I emailed Aaron directly and got a much better quote within an hour. We've been working out the details over the past few days and I'm ready to present the final numbers to SWMBO for approval to proceed.

So, its not the dealership? Its just the one person giving the good deals?
Mark commented they were near the top in the nation in sales.
Does the dealership not realize they can indeed make money selling a lot of vehicles or is it the individual sales people who are just trying to squeeze out more commisson on less sales?

Sales people at Mark are flat rate. But not that it matters, sales associates at the vast majority of dealerships do not, and are not allowed to set price. If a salesman is properly trained the number one job is to overcome objections and justify price. As far as dealing with a salesperson at mark and getting a higher price, that is because typically locals deal with salespeople and those local customers are given a less aggressive deal because they are not going to bid other markets. Those dealing online are given the most aggressive quotes because they are typically out of market, mostly Houston area, and Mark CDJR is hell bent on grabbing that market share.

My shipping from LA to PA (1,440 miles) is $900. When I ordered, Aaron estimated it would be $800-$1000. His estimate jumped up a few weeks ago during the gas pipeline hacking...which had me worried. But, in the end, the actual cost was right at his initial estimate.

Now, I just hope that my Rebel delivery in uneventful and isn't featured on the next episode of Shipping Wars :p
Frustrating development...Lucas from Mark Dodge just called me to say that the shipping company arrived at the dealership today & was not able to take my truck. Obviously, they were picking up a couple of vehicles and decided not to take mine for whatever reason...probably taking higher fares. Back to square one and listed again. I have a message into Aaron to figure out what is going on. I don't know how the shipping company did not have room to take the truck. They knew what they were picking up.

I believe Aaron is out today and tomorrow. I am waiting for a quote from him and he let me know he was going to be out of office.

Yes, he is off & in process of a house move...but, he still had time to give me an update:

Their excuse was they didn’t realize how tall it was being that is a rebel... I’ve banned them from doing business with us as is this is unacceptable. Lucas has it relisted and already have an inquiry, but nothing solid just yet. I will keep you posted. I am very sorry about the inconvenience.

With all these sales we've given him, he's upgrading his house! :)

Question for those of you who live in Ca but purchased new out of state. The Ca dmv was trying to tell me that even brand new coming in has to have smog and you lose 8 year smog exemption. Has anyone experienced this? Thanks

Not sure about the 8 year smog exemption, but yes, it is a requirement for a new vehicle bought out of state to be smogged before it can be registered. You also will have to get it weighed.

Bought my truck last summer in Colorado and went through all of this. Not too much of a hassle as I knew what was required ahead of time when I got it back into California.

Thanks for confirming that. They told me it had to be smogged every 2 years after that, whereas a new purchase in Ca has no smog required for 8 years, ( if you pay a $25 fee each of the 8 years ).

Does anyone have the email for Aaron at Marks. Thanks

Haha cuz the $25 does so much against smog; damn politicians and their pointless regulations.

I'm in Middle TN. My quote expired so I resubmitted but haven't gotten a new quote yet. AutoNation said they would be happy to take another look if I bring it to one of their facilities, which I might do. Finished detailing the truck tonight, which of course makes it harder to want to sell it!

If I didn't just figure out the cause of a ridiculous whistle (after a 2 month saga) I'd be taking the $53K offer that Vroom just sent me....which is significantly more than I paid for the truck in March.

I'm in Birmingham and just ordered from Mark Dodge. Sandi was easy to work with and I think she gave me a great price for the current economic climate at close to 14% off MRSP. My local dealers were @ MRSP or higher and didn't even want to talk when I brought up the Tread Lightly discount. I've considered asking Sandi about freight, but it sounds like it can be a PITA. I can get a last second flight down there for under $500 and it's a tank of gas and 8 hours back.

I ordered mine from Sandi yesterday. I'm going to fly in and do the 8hr drive home. I've done it before to another dealer in Houston. You should be able to catch a last minute 1 way flight for pretty cheap, the times just could suck. Last time I did it, I booked a week out for $300 on SWA.

I've seen a few, "Book now and see the details after" I just don't want to land after the dealership closes and then be stuck with no where to go all night.

Aaron and Lucas met me after the dealership had closed for the night. My flight was scheduled to arrive after they closed and then got pushed later because of an issue with what the computer said the baggage weighed and what the manual weighing was.

He and his wife actually built a new house around the corner from where they currently live. He told me all of this when he met me at the airport. He was actually at his new house talking to the plumber when he saw my plane fly overhead. He told the plumber that he had to leave and deliver a truck to a customer. This was after hours and on a day that he had taken off. Top notch customer service all the way!!!
