But really, there's other possibilities beyond chrome, such body color grills and bumpers (which are an option), or perhaps brushed/satin metal. I'm surprised that hasn't been a trend, considering how popular brushed and satin metal finishes are inside the home, especially appliances, plumbing, and lighting fixtures. Maybe it doesn't hold up well on exterior surfaces.

Big time agree on the color matching, give us more color matching Ram! I don't mind the blacked out look but I would love to have everything just color matched instead.
This. I ordered the Sport Appearance, in part because of the included other stuff, but I like the color matching. A lot. ;)

Wally - I'm still in the camp that the Limited is the way to go not only for the extra features and better value your truck will have in the future, but also because it's the only deal that has the opportunity to improve in the future (based on incentives at time of delivery).

Either way, I think you'll be happy with your truck/deal - best of luck!

Especially with some Laramies approaching Limited MSRP's. I am continuously shocked by how high some of these Laramies MSRP's are

I think the problem with color matching is too many part numbers or too many duplicate different color parts. If they only had a few colors that may be an option but theres what 11 different colors then they'd have to do it on the 2500 too

I just told Aaron I was a friend of Adam Chandler. He then gave me a deal on a Laramie built I gave him that almost as good as Adams deal. It should be coming in next month. I feel like I'm cheating, Adam Chandler and Silent Bob do all the work and I just claimed them as friends. Then last week Aaron asked if I had room left in my garage that he had a new white Challenger R/T Scat Pack sitting on the lot. He then gave me 16.5% off MSRP and got me a $800 delivery fee for PA. That less than .60 a mile. Five days later the Challenger is in my garage

It's definitely easier today than it was a year ago but I think that's because of Aaron and Mark Dodge valuing selling trucks over deep stroking every customer they can. It took me 6 weeks of serious back and forth with dealers to (once you find a no games dealer) to get to a price that I was ok with similar to what Mark Dodge offers from the start. I still bettered MArk Dodges price by about $2k but again, it took 6 weeks. If I was doing it today, I'd simply call Aaron or go to Lake Charles.

I’d assume they’d just have to make a paintable grill, just as they do for the bumper.

Personally, I like the chrome bumpers and grills. My first truck was a ‘97 Dakota, all black with black bumpers. Then I got a 2001 Dakota, Patriot Blue/Silver two-tone paint and chrome bumpers and grills. She was a beauty! But I can see how that’s a bit too much for some people.

Black grills and wheels don’t do it for me, though. Different folks, different strokes.

If satin grills and bumpers were a thing, I think I’d like them even more. As for High Noon Edition, I’ll leave that up to someone else. 😛

I think part of the limited grill is a "satin" chrome like finish but it the grill overall doesn't bother me. Like you, I don't care for the blacked out thing, grills and wheels but like you said, different strokes.
My 1st Ram was a 2003 Laramie Patriot Blue with chrome bumpers and body color surround on the grill that I think was a one year only thing as later Laramies had the all chrome grill

Yes, some of the Laramie MSRPs get pretty high. With how RAM has raised prices, my current truck (2020 Laramie, see sig) is over $1500 more if built today vs last August.

The Laramie I'm primarily looking at is MSRP $59,225. I would have to add wheel well liners ($200) and a bed step ($250-300). It doesn't have a spray-in liner, and I'd like to have that at least on the tailgate but not sure how much it costs to get it just there (maybe $150?). The Laramie does have anti-spin diff and trailer brake, which to me is in the "nice to have" category but aren't currently part of my Limited build. I figure the trailer brake can always be added later for relatively low cost if I ever need it (have never needed one in my life up to this point), and I can put a Detroit anti-spin on it for about $1000 later if I really want one that is way better than the factory one.

MSRP on the Limited I'm considering is $62,985. I gain better leather, better headlights (important, but the Laramie headlights are still good), power running boards (don't really need or even want those), wireless charging pad, tow hooks, and a different interior color that I haven't seen in person so not sure if I'd like it (Indigo/frost - the black is too dark in a Limited with the black A-pillars and headliner). I like the grill and rims better on the Limited (some chrome but not all chromed out).

Both have 0% for 72 months, the Laramie currently has an additional $750 in rebates that can be combined ($500 vs $1250).

They are really not that different from each other. Would be about $50/month difference with the possibility of Limited rebates getting better.

In a way it makes no sense to options the Laramie so much and pass on a limited

Indigo Frost is awesome and I had the same thoughts about the black interior as you which is also why I looked at the Longhorn Black and Saddle but you just get so much more truck with the Limited for the money

The blackout thingy...
been around a long time. Started with flat blacked out grilles front and rear in the mid 60's. Hotrodders took it a lil further with hoods and eventually wheels. There are aspects of it that I like looks wise. I've shopped several BH Nites. I really really like the Granite Nites. The parts I don't like; even though they are using matte blacks on some of the parts they don't match well at all. It really stands out on a Diamond Black Nite. There's 4 different blacks at least and they show. Don't even get me started on the raised white letters and chrome lugnuts. Another problem with black is keeping the plastic parts looking new. They fade quickly. They show dirt, while the rest of the vehicle may appear to be pretty clean ( for instance a Billet Nite).

Chrome...
It is dated. The mfg don't have any style or taste and to me are in the old mindset of more is better. Next, it ain't chrome it's plastic. It may be marginally more chip resistant but it ain't 59 Caddy chrome. But it doesn't rust either. After reading several posts of chipped up front ends on Sports I really considered (and still am) going to the chrome. I'm also considering a BH and would like to have the Mtn Brown interior so they go hand in hand because the Sport only comes in black. The lighter colors like Billet downplay the chrome. Dark colors make it jump out. I think I'd blackout the grille and emblems. I hate the RAM grille, stupid a$$ hood emblems and the fact that there's locator holes in the tailgate. A completely debadged truck is so so much easier to clean and looks so much better. Would like to see black chrome and perhaps the satin. Surprised we haven't yet, although Jeep has a platinum finish. Black chrome is more $$$ for the mfg so they'll stick with painted or plastic.

Sport (matching colors)...
Think this is one of the best looks. It has grown from some awkward piecemeal wtf's to a very refined look. What I don't like (HATE) is choices being eliminated because of the package. Interior choices.

Interiors...
I have an all black interior now and it is dark and hard to see at night. It also shows all my old a$$ gray hairs and damn dry skin every where. My previous vehicle a JGC Overland had the Light Frost interior. The headliner matched and it was very easy to see at night and was much cooler in the sun. It wasn't hard to keep clean either. I thought it would grow on me, but never did. Too beige blah. See pic. I've heard it said brown interiors are for old men. I guess they're right cause I love the JGC Overland Dark Sienna Brown. See pic. Can't afford the Longhorn and don't like the over the top in your face badging. JMHO. Having said all this I really don't like the shade of brown and the light frost seats for the Mtn Brown in the Laramie. If I go there it will be a Sport with the black interior.

BH vs Laramie vs Limiteds...

For me it is almost exclusively price and praticality. Loading up a BH has led me to look closer at the Laramie, price and value wise. I am leaning hard that direction, but making the money come together is becoming a daunting feat with retirement later this year. Can't go any higher to the Limited. It wouldn't meet my needs anyway. Although it is much more of a "vehicle" it really isn't more of a "truck" for my needs.

Agreed.

I went Sport forthe matching colors. I went black interior, but would've much preferred a biege/light tan. That was not an option, unfortunately.

Same thoughts here. I originally wanted a Laramie but by the time you add everything you want you are approaching Limited prices. I've always drooled over the Limiteds interior anyways so why not?

Since I sort of started the night edition conversation, I just wanted to add if the Limited had a "body color" package where everything was the color of the car, as in no chrome at all, I'd pick that over the Night Edition. I really didn't want 22" wheels but I didn't want Chrome just as much. sport hood is a nice add-on though that I'd also pay more for.

So thankful for this thread. Went to all local dealers here in New Jersey and essentially laughed off the lot with offers of $43K OTD on a $50K trim Longhorn. The last guy dealer told me he wouldn't even take that offer to his manager...good luck with my search. Called Aaron at Mike Dodge and told him referred from 5thGen and 1 week later have a new Ram in the driveway for $38K OTD. Wish I would have found this thread earlier and would have saved a month of truck shopping in Jersey. The kicker for me was Carvana offered me $33,600 for my 2013 Wrangler that I paid $34K new for in 2013.

Finally picked up my order. Mike P at Lakeland Dodge in Florida was awesome! Straight forward, no BS and super easy to work with. If anyone has interest in that area, I recommend seeing him for sure.
