Crud, I has no idea that our 5th gens were dealing with this issue!
Hopefully it isn’t an ongoing part problem where they continue to replace the crap OEM exhaust bolts/manifolds with the same crap ones until you are out of warranty...
Yeah it's frustrating to say the least. Had the studs break off on my 4th gen also but that was at about 60k miles not 20k.

Well at only 20k miles I fear the dreaded exhaust manifold leak. Ticking noise at cold start and strong smell of exhaust from wheel well. I figured it was only a matter of time but certainly didn't expect it at 20k 😡. Goes in this Wed for service, I will update with dealer findings.
Got truck back and the dealership confirmed it was a cracked manifold and replaced it.

All that AND they tightened your wiper blade? Talk about service! Truly though, rather have the tick from an exhaust manifold than from inside the engine. Glad you got it fixed

Lol apparently I had an open recall to retourqe my wiper arm 🤨. They took pretty good care of me and had me in and out pretty quick ....overall good experience for a dealership.

I agree, I will take a manifold leak over a bad lifter any day ..... Knock on wood.

Well you can add. 2020 with 41000 to the list

just went in today they took it in passenger side manifold cracked but the bolts are fine

it’s covered under the power train warranty

Bummer man, just had mine done as well 2020 with 21k miles but glad to hear they covered it under the powertrain warranty.

huh...I have been waiting almost a month for them to get new manifolds in to replace my cracked ones.

Mine will be in on Thursday or something the benefit of living in the country no waiting to get your car checked or things ordered was in and out in 15 minutes

No questions asked pulled in guys came out I told them hey I think there’s a leak on the passenger side they pulled truck in and came back a few minutes later and I was on my way said we will call in a day or two once they get the part. But I’ll know when the part comes in before they do since it has to pass thru my works hands first 😁

I asked to see the manifolds and the service guy was like no need we will replace both even tho the drivers didn’t need it. He was like once it’s fixed you’ll notice a slight gain in power and fuel I laughed and said I’ll notice the power huh He was like yeah I responded it’s still slow compared to my mustang lol he laughed

Definitely. If you're outside of warranty when it happens, take them to a machine shop and have them grind it very lightly down to "perfectly flat", then bolt it back on using new studs. Once the mainfold has twisted, it will want to stay like that naturally, so if you can grind it down to flat it will never twist again.

If put new manifolds on, you're just going to get the same problem back at some point, sooner or later the bolts are going to snap for everybody.

Otherwise, guys are putting on shorty's or long tube headers to bypass the mopar junk completely. Slightly better performance and sound.

That’s where I’m at I’ll have them fix it under the warranty to delay it and save myself some time and money for now. I don’t like getting something new and having to spend money to fix it right away

My 2020 Laramie started sounding louder than normal on start-ups on the passengers side. Took into the dealer to confirm a crack manifold after only 9500 miles. Shop manager at my dealer told me I was crazy to think it was leaking. Took the heat shield off and what do you know, a massive crack. Bolts were intact. Part is on order now, should have in the next week. Also had to have the rear tail-lights replaced because they were randomly cracking due to the changes in temperature.

Wow that's the lowest miles I've seen yet for a cracked manifold......SAD.

You would think after 12 years a lawsuit would have taken place

I have confirmation that my drivers is now cracked. Had the passengers replaced less than 10k a go. I hope the new one's don't crack as easily. I will be under warranty till 100k so if they do they will be replacing several sets. Seems like they should be able to design headers that don't crack. Never had this problem on any other vehicle.

Are owners with failed manifolds driving lots of short distance trips? I wonder if there is a correlation. Not that this would be an excuse for these failures.
