Owner 2021 ram 1500 limited night edition with 8300 miles. Since purchase I started hearing whining noise between 500-700 rpms. Took to dealership of purchase and they said it was normal after having me sit in another Etorque. They said it’s related to generator charging hybrid battery while idle. I somewhat reluctantly agreed but annoying sound continues. I am still in process of investigating into this. Does anyone else with Etorque 5.7 L hemi have this problem? I’m planning on driving this truck for many miles but concerned this noise is associated with problem that may come up later after warranty expires $$$$.
Also for truck at price point of 72K it seems not right to have such an annoying noise to be normal.

I have no noise on my eTorque.

I went to another dealership and they said the same thing. When they heard what I was hearing they said it may be abnormal. They weren’t sure because they haven’t had too many of these complaints. I was offered to be followed by them, they courteously told me if noise became worse, they will rectify. I love what this truck is all about comfort, luxury, power but I really have concern with reliability

I’m glad others don’t have my problem however perhaps you are not sensitized to it. When I drove the truck before purchase, didn’t pay attention but afterwards once it was heard it was very audible. It’s a faint whining noise again between 500-700 rpms. It will occur when idle drops down to this range.
I traded in my 2019 AMG GLC 63 and now there’s thought of regret. 😞

I do notice this truck sounds different inside sitting at idle than my non-etorque truck did. Nothing sounds too out of the ordinary to me, just kind of like a low groaning sound. It is not the same sound you can hear during the first couple of shifts when the etorque motor slows the engine rpm's to smooth the shift. Something I will keep watch on though to see if the sound changes at all over time.

Just pretend the whine is coming from a supercharger :ROFLMAO:

Seriously though, I haven't noticed any strange noises on mine. My Laramie with etorque sounds the same as my wife's Limited without etorque, other than the exhaust of course. There is definitely no whine.

No noise at idle. I do hear in am first drive during shifts a little noise from it. That started after a few updates done due to sluggish 1-2 shift at first drive cold.

I sat in another new long horn 5.7L Etorque at a dealership and there wasn’t same noise as mine. More and more I’m thinking it’s my trucks problem. Anyhow I found a dealership that will be looking into it. Will let you know findings

I have always noticed a slight noise in mine especially during rapid deceleration. I am at approximately 60,000 miles and am not worried about it. The Etorque system is part of the long term emissions warranty.

Hi @orthopod07, thank you for taking the time to share your concern here. If you believe that this noise is reason for concern and decide to pursue further resolutions with your dealer, please feel free to send our team a private message for support. What we are able to do from this level would be to escalate a case on your behalf to a specialist for an additional layer of support as you work with your dealer. This will provide the dealership and yourself with an individual who will review your concern, then assist you and the dealership in exhausting all available resources to have the concern addressed and resolved.
We would be happy to help!
