Hello Fellow RAM owners,

New to this forum and please forgive me if I start with a negative note…

About 5 months ago I bought a 2020 RAM 1500 Limited.

This is my second RAM (my fourth Chrysler vehicle) and at the beginning I liked the truck but unfortunately, I am having nothing but problems with it.

When I bought the truck, I also bought a few Mopar accessories for it and it was a long hustle to get the dealer to deliver the accessories.

Then I had problems with the truck vibrating at speeds between 60 and 75 mph.

Took it to the dealer but the problem remains. The dealer attested that I may have tire problems, but they could not help me with it.

A few weeks ago, I started the truck, shift it to drive and when I started to drive the truck shut off. Crank it again and everything was normal.

Yesterday I started the truck inside of the garage, shifted in gear and when started to roll the truck shut off again. Now the truck doesn’t start. It is completely dead.

Call Dodge roadside assistance and the sent a technician. He checked the truck and he said that he could not help.

Call Dodge RAM 24h customer service several times and they do not answer the phone.

Anybody else having similar problems?

Thanks,

Sorry to hear your having so many issues with your Limited ... l purchased my 2020 Limited at the very end of December... and besides an automatic download that got stuck and wouldn't complete... my LIMITED has been a pleasure to drive and own ...

CEL on? Sounds like a throttle position sensor crapping out. Could try disconnecting negative from the battery for a bit then reconnect. Will take a while for everything to remarry so don't freak out. Also, pull the plug on the pedal and make sure no bent pins and connection is good.

Call the dealer you bought it from, or your preferred brand dealer in the area. They shouldn't be leaving you hanging

Yes, I probably have to find a new dealer to service the truck, since I don’t feel that I can trust the dealer where I bought it, due to the fact that they seem to be very difficult in returning my calls or give me assertive answers.

The Dodge roadside assistance technician that came here today checked for several possible problems and he could not find the issue.

He recommended me to not try to troubleshoot by myself so I don’t void the warranty.

Thanks,

I've experienced a throttle surge issue but only a few times in the last year. For me it felt more like a lunge as it wasn't a sustained throttle application. It was more of an inappropriate initial throttle application by the drivetrain control logic. I assumed it was related to the transmission relearn logic but who knows.

Not sure what aftermarket mopar accessories you bought but I might want to remove that stuff just to rule it out.

Is this a legit thread? Sounds like some trolling to me. Why wouldn't you roadside assistance tow it to the dealer?

Well… Many things.

The Chrysler roadside service through the phone said that usually they first send a technician to try to fix more simple problems.

The technician was driving a regular truck, not a tow truck.

Super nice guy. I believe he did his best but could not find the problem.

Today is Sunday and the dealers in my area are closed, so they schedule the towing for tomorrow morning.

From what I have been researching I think that the problem may be the drivetrain control logic, but I am not sure.

Mechanically the truck is completely stock.

Thanks

Thanks,
Off topic (sorry) - I was reading your post and got completely distracted by your profile picture. Did you add racing stripes to your RAM? If so, do you mind posting a picture of the placement on the hood?
I am getting matte charcoal stripes added down my hood/roof/tail next Saturday. I haven't seen anyone around here with any customizations like this.

I'm a little confused here, did it SHOT off or SHUT off? I hope nothing was behind it or in front of it if it SHOT off.

Sorry bout the issues, but your stripes do look nice. Hope they figure out your problems. I have 35,000 on my limited, it’s never had any warranty work.

For the tires, they are known to be out of balance from Ram. If the dealer cannot “road force” balance them, find a competent tire shop that can. My first Ram had the same issue and the dealer rebalanced them Wrong. I went to a local shop with a Road Force machine and they did it right. The same tire shop did my 2020. Mine was missing weights on one wheel from the factory. I do not trust my local dealer to service mine so I paid the $77 out of pocket for perfection. I will use a dealer about 45 mins away for any warranty work. So far, so good.
