Maybe it's time to stop buying RAM's

if it weren’t such an easy fix I would, but I love everything else about the truck compared to the alternatives.

People who set their AC to 78 in their homes either can’t afford the electric bill or love being miserable cheapskates.

I measured about 53 today after driving for about 25 minutes. Truck initially said outside temp was 111 but it had been sitting in the sun. Actual temp was 93, and the truck eventually showed 97 outside.
It did get cold in the cab eventually, but based on what others have posted it's not good.

Doesn't everyone keep their homes comfortable? Maybe people's comfort levels, ( when it comes to temperatures) are personal, and subjective.

Is 77° significantly less then 78°?
My 2019 Ram has the worst air conditioner of any vehicle I have owned in at least 30 years.

Loyal Dodge/Ram owner but living in Houston my 2019 A/C does NOT perform at an acceptable level. Dealer admitted many customers have same complaint, had the software flash but did not help. If it weren’t for the simple and brilliant suggestion of KcRay and the AC hack I would have left the RAM family. It is irritating that some of us have to do this but I enjoyed a nice cool cab this week while the temps were in high 90’s. Thanks KcRay!

Air conditioning Hack

Today I was able to get 36-38 degrees blowing out of both the drivers side and the passenger side ac vents. Previously I was getting 44 out of the passenger side and 50-52 out of the driver side. You and a few others obviously have the exception. However I have now owned two 5th gen Rams and a close friend has also owned two 5th gen Rams , from Big Horns to Limiteds , gas to Eco diesels and out of 4 trucks none blow colder than 50-51 and when it gets really hot like 100 they won’t blow colder than mid 50’s. That’s a sample of 4 new trucks, I’d like to think that we are not in the minority. I have owned more new trucks than I can count, from Tundras, to F150’s to Ram 1500’s and 2500’s, I have never had to Jimmy rig my AC in any new truck I’ve owned to get cold AC.

Same as you. I've owned 2 2019 RAMS. First was lemoned and it suffered from the same issue. Replacement, same issue. Blows in the mid 50's.

4 things I've recently observed.

1) If I'm sweating like crazy after working in the garden and I'm about to die from heat exhaustion, the A/C in this truck blows "ice cold".
2) If I leave my house at 1pm, during the hottest time of the day, after having my truck sit in the garage all night long and being completely cool, the A/C blows "ice cold".
3) As I have gotten older over the past year, I've personally noticed that I prefer warmer temps. Not significantly, but I've been finding that I prefer my house to be a couple degrees warmer. I'm just becoming more tolerant of warmer temps. It's very strange, but it's just reality. Consequently, I'm finding that I am not quite as effected by the poor A/C in this truck. I still recognize it isn't what I expect it should be and there are certainly still times where I wish it would blow cooler (see #4) but it's not bothering me as much.
4) When it has sat out in the baking GA heat in an asphalt parking lot for a couple hours and the temps inside could poach an egg, it takes a very long time at the wide open fan speed to ever get the cabin comfortably cool. Fortunately, with all this social distancing and staying at home crap, this scenario is no longer very common. #2 mostly applies where I leave the house and make a few errand and things start off cool and remain cool since I never let the truck ever get heat soaked.

Though I doubt anyone really gives a **** to the point they'll actually read this and change their minds as we all pick sides these days and stick by them whether we are right or wrong, I actually have a point to make.

Everyone is different. We all "feel" differently, we are all different ages and we all use our trucks different. Those that feel as if their trucks are ice cold, probably do feel it that way. I can feel it that way depending on the circumstances that I use the truck. I can also get it to where it's miserable and I want to just drive it off a cliff and cut my loses. I can see and feel it both ways. But, as I've said, folks prefer to argue and that's just that. No one is ever going to change their stance on this issue once they've made their opinion known. Mostly because no one really gives a **** or even cares. As long as they are happy with their truck, screw you and your gripe. I think it's just fun to come on here and argue....as I think others would agree.

Good post my friend, and I don't disagree that people feel different things in different ways...we are all unique and what is cold to one may not be cold to another. No one on here is "arguing" anything or picking sides. You clearly have an issue with your AC. There are just a few of us that have taken the time to accurately test the temps and provided our results. My decision and stance is based on hard data that cannot be disputed as have others. No one is picking a side here or just posting for the sake of arguing as you suggest. As an engineer, my thought process is sound. If every truck experienced the issue, it's a design problem that should be corrected. If "some" trucks are experiencing the issue, then the thoughts should surround why and how to fix the issue. Maybe you are correct in that RAM could give a **** and it is what it is and your only hope is a heater hose control valve. I don't think anyone on this forum is thinking "I am happy with my truck so screw you".

I find it funny; however, that some of you that have had the issue (or lemon lawed your truck for this issue) just get another one and then complain some more when the new one is no better then the first I understand that the RAM's interior, and the HEMI, are awesome when you compare it to the GMC, FORD, TOYOTA and NISSAN. If that's your reason for buying again, I certainly cannot blame you as the RAM is heads and tails above all other trucks...at the moment. However, I would install the heater hose control valve and call it a day

FYI, Mine was lemoned over paint. The back half of the truck was a different color than the front...well documented on these forums and these forums were invaluable in assisting me in getting that resolved.

Please know that this is still on our radar as we are working diligently to make sure both your concerns and findings are heard. As of now, we have a new part in development. However, due to COVID restrictions, production has been delayed. We anticipate to have a resolution for this soon, and will be sure to keep you updated as we know more.

Hey Ram cares glad you have a part in development. One thing you could do is contact your case managers about this update. As of last night, mine is still trying to get me go back to the dealership again for this same issue. She wants me to get an AC recharge even though I was just there and they said my AC is running to spec. The dealership even tried to tell me length of the drivers vents are longer and that is causing the 8 degree differences on my truck. I have wasted my time on this issue running back and forth and the dealership says there is nothing they can do about it because it is within spec and the case managers tell me to bring it in again. Please stop telling customers to go in and have it looked at knowing an AC recharge wont solve this particular problem. Also have your dealerships stop telling customers that the vent length is causing this and update them on this new part in development. In other words, stop wasting peoples time and giving them the run around and get this part developed ASAP.

Not sure if anyone posted this before (34 pages is too long to search through), but I noticed my AC is sub par when in manual ac or max ac, but if I switch it to Auto it feels colder. Only thing I don't like about Auto is that the fan is in full speed for a little while until it gets down to temp. I have yet to get a thermometer out to see what the temps are, but it feels cooler on my hand when in Auto. I'll try to do some actual testing soon.

Anyone else notice theirs feels colder when in Auto?
