I would really be curious of the number of trucks with water leaking, regardless of whether its from the rear of the truck, sunroof, firewall, etc. Keeping water out of the cab really shouldn't be that hard.

As for the rate of failure in my family...it's 100%. Both my dad's '19 and my '20 have water leaking. I think his is definintely from the rear surround because he has 2 cracks.

That is a good point. My dad probably wouldn't have even noticed his cracks in the window if I didn't ask him to take a look. I know that my rear headliner was wet at least one time before based on the stain. Kinda like rings on a cut tree. You can usually count the water stain lines to see how many times it's leaked before you notice it actively leaking.

I'm 100% failure rate on my rams thus far, 4th gen leaked and 5th gen leaked, both were third brake light seals.

They replaced my 3rd brake light when I complained of water in the cab. Problem was still there and now with 2 cracks in the surround they are getting approval from FCA to replace the rear window.

Just like RamLink83, my dad has a 2020 and would not have known about this issue either. He has it too.

I think GM uses the same supplier for their trucks and they are having the same issues too.

Mine isn't actually cracked, but there is a very faint line on the surface of the plastic there, that sort of follows where your crack is. Something tells me the mold for this item puts a deficiency of some kind in that area, leading to cracks. We'll see if mine ends up cracking or not.

Mine is the same. Depending on how I park it's very visible or almost invisible. But when water beats down on the back window water drips down the slider and into the liner on the back wall.

Same here. Faint lines, and water drip. Going in Monday to the dealer.

Got my truck back from the dealer. Confirmed 3rd brake light leak. They cleaned the minor stain on the headliner. Not sure I like how they did the fix. They used RTV, so now it's going to be a pain if I ever have to change a bulb on the light. Hopefully at least it doesn't leak anymore. Guess I'll find out next time it rains, which could be tonight.

My 2020 crew cab has those same markings on the rear window frame. I made my own 3rd brake light gasket and so far I’ve seen zero signs of water leaking.

I've seen water spots on the window for a while now, but finally visibly confirmed that the cracks are now leaking. Going to have to schedule a replacement soon.

So I still find a few drops of water in the ledge of the window frame right next to the headliner. I checked first thing this morning in the rain and it was dry. 3 hours later it was wet. I took off the 3rd brake light and replaced with the gasket that was recommended from Lowe’s. Once I installed the gasket on the light I put a light coating of RTV on the side of the gasket that’s exposed to the elements. When I dribble water on that set up, the water beaded and fell right off. I figure I’d try the rtv and use it to seal the gasket from absorbing ANY moisture. Will wait an hr and put her back out into the rain after the rtv sets up a bit. If there’s water inside again later, off to the dealer. I hope it’s not the just replaced rear window again!

Hope so! When i removed the old gasket I ran water over it and it absorbed within a minute or so. Squeezed and it was like wringing our a towel. Did the same with the Lowe’s gasket and the water did not absorb. Like I said earlier I put the film of rtv on the exposed exterior surfaces for extra insurance.

Mine was an hour or 2 They need approval since they outsource the work to a glass shop.
