Wow - no one has provided a viable and working solution other than a battery pull. Surely this cannot be the only way.

I viewed a YouTube video demonstrating an 8.4 UConnect reset this way but I have not tested it. It takes about 10 seconds or more holding down the buttons. It is possible the feature was removed, but seems easy/worth a try. How long did you hold them for?

19 ram 3500 12 inch. Just had this problem , all audio coming from phone be it blue tooth or car play was garbage . Sorties sounded normal. Every button press sounded like static. Read somewhere to put vehicle in acc and hold VR AND PHONE BUTTON ON STEERING WHEEL 30 seconds. Ignore the system activating Siri etc just keep holding , sure enough after what seemed like forever sound came back normal. There was no indication that a “reset” happened but everything started working fine

I'm having the same static issue on my 8.4, and tried resolving it based on your experiences (spent 30 minutes doing the same thing over and over), and it didn't resolve my static issue. I have static on every input including NAV, Phone; guess I have to take it to the dealer which really sucks...

2019 12” froze; backup cam still on going full speed ahead, no response from any buttons, clock frozen.

@predv3: thanks! May not have worked for you the second time, but I held down the 'MUTE' and 'SCREEN OFF" for about a minute. When I let go, it was fixed.

I found what we have all been looking for I have done this three times on 2017 RAM 8.4 Uconnect 19.42 OS from this site;

Here is what it says if you just want the nit and gritty:
Master Reset for Dodge Charger/Challenger ONLY (RAM as well in my experience)
BEFORE ATTEMPTING A MASTER RESET PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU'VE HAD THE UNIT INSTALLED IN YOUR VEHICLE FOR AT LEAST 48-72 HOURS. MOST ISSUES WILL BE FIXED IN TIME AS YOUR VEHICLE IS ADJUSTING TO THE NEW SYSTEM.

A master reset only works for Chargers and Challengers with a UAQ or a UAS.

If you are experiencing issues with your UAQ or UAS system please attempt a master reset.

Master Reset

1. Power on the radio.

2. Click on the Phone icon.

3. Hold the top right corner of the screen for about 13 seconds *It may take longer.

4. The radio will shut off and restart.

5. Master reset is complete.

I tried this as well, did not work. I have an issue with the Android auto not working just recently. The USB chargers work but don't project the phone. Also get the annoying pop up that says device not supported every 30 seconds to minutes. Before I would get that annoying pop up every so often and then the phone would connect so it looks to me like it a software issue that isn't allowing the projection. Yesterday there was a brief period when the lights around the USB's were lit up but as soon as I plugged it in they went off. Feel like it could be fixed if the unconnect could be reset and unit is stuck on a error loop. I tried the VR plus phone buttons but nothing happens. I also tried locating the fuse but man what is up with the fuse box? There is no diagram to go by like normal cars and it's located so far back under the steering column it's impossible to access. Whomever thought of that location needs their head examined. Anyone have luck with removing the negative battery cable.

Update. I fixed it myself by aggressively hitting the USB area 4 times with my fingers, basically tapping really hard. I was pissed at this point with seeing that pop up message every 10 seconds. Plugged in my phone and it worked immediately. So there you go. It's a loose connection most likely inside. That explains why replacing the USB fixes the problem. Works for now but at least saves me time from going to the dealer and that annoying pop up is gone. The age old way of fixing something by pounding on it actually works.

You should go get a new USB hub. Yours is defective
Yup obviously but now I don't have to for the time being. It's probably going to be two trips. Once to diagnose and another after they order the part. I fully expect it to stop working again at some point.

Engineering mode screen does not pop up anything useful on the 8.4 screens. I think anything useful has been removed. I spent 30 minutes and a bunch of combos on the 8.4 trying to figure out how to reset it (still not dice) but I found that holding one upper corner of the screen and a lower opposite corner got me in. It had one menu. I was very pissed. Lol.
Unless someone has a way or a key sequence in that mode, I would say that’s not gonna do it.
For the 8.4 I was told by Zautomotive the fuse 44 or 40 under the steering wheel resets it. But I don’t see any evidence of a reset when I do this.

I have the 12 inch screen and encountered back-up camera problem twice. What I did is:

1. Turn off the engine
2. press the ignition button twice (Run and not ACC mode)
3. Simultaneously press the power and tuning knobs for at least 20 seconds.
4. Let go of the buttons and wait. The Uconnect will re-start.

This process worked for my back-up camera glitches. I am not sure if it will work on other Connect function. I also did not lose any saved settings.

I've had my 21 1500, 12" screen, for 6 days. Today, no backup camera.

When I got to my destination, I successfully performed the reboot.

Engine running, hold volume button and tune button for about 10 seconds. On release it rebooted. Backup camera available after reboot.

Guys, I did this in the video below when my back up camera quit working on my 2 week old truck. Held down the 2 buttons at the same time and no problems since then.

This is awesome.
Folks on this board have been wanting to find a way to reset their 5th get UConnects since these trucks were released, and no one knew how.
Thanks for sharing!
