Picked up Limited off lot with mold - need thoughts

When I went to pick up limited the salesman wasn't at the lot but called me and said keys were in truck and ready to go and I could just take off. He said he'd learned it up a few days before but it had gotten a little dirty sitting in the lot since. Apologized that it was a little dirty. I noticed it being fairly dirty inside and out but could just clean it so I drove it straight from car lot to car wash. When I took out mats, there was mold under all mats and found it under seats and oxidation on amp under drivers seat. Called right away. Car off lot 30 min. Salesman said bring it back.

Truck was a dealer to dealer switch so salesman said no telling how much water had gotten in over time or how many times its molded and been cleaned up by the other dealership. I couldn't get any response when I called to check on progress and just dropped by. Was told that salesman was no longer working there. They found a leak in rear window and need to replace glass but unsure how long it will take.

I told them I'm not taking that truck. They want me to switch it with one on their lot that has 3K less of features. I'd like to just get financing canceled with FCA and walk away. No money has changed hands. It has not been a good experience so I'd like to just find a truck at a different dealership. They say that isn't possible. Said might find one on another dealer's lot but not sure GM will allow that. Thoughts?

Can’t believe they would insist on you taking a lessor truck. :( Tell them that new trucks don’t have mold... no can do.
Either cancel the whole deal, they order a new one or give you one heck of a discount after they’ve changed glass, steamed it, everything. Or, be willing to take a lot truck from a different dealer that they trade for.
Those would be my ideas.

Stick to your guns, call FCA. It can and should be cancelled. They are not providing you with that truck in the agreed upon condition, i.e. new with no damage, so they have violated the terms of the deal. No way I would accept that truck or do business with that dealer. Say the magic word, "lawyer" and see what happens. Also tell them canx it or the media will be called.

I can't believe they sold it to him in that condition!

even if they trimmed off a few thousand $$$, it'd cost you as much to have someone professionally demold it! (Reminds me of base housing at one base - they said I was wrong .. then, a year after we moved out, we saw the house had been demolished .. yeah .. mmhmm).

Tell them to pre-order you one instead?

I'm not sure on the build date. I only had it a few hours so I don' t have access to it. I spent all day searching the web for trucks that are similar and contacted the dealer to tell them I found a similar one about 100 miles away. So they do have options.

It hasn't been smooth that's for sure. First they found a truck and I told them I wanted it but after 3 days of constant texts and calls from me asking for a price from them, they wouldn't give me a price. It was as if they didn't want to sell trucks. Then when they finally got to negotiating a price and we agreed, they called back and said it sold to another dealership.

Second truck (moldy one) we agreed on a price but when I went to sign paperwork they said they changed their mind on price and wanted 1K more. I walked out. They called next day and said they'd accept $500 more than agreed and I caved cause I was tired of dealing with them.

Now moldy truck.

Honestly I'd rather just cancel the deal altogether and go elsewhere but I guess if they can get a truck from another dealership that is at least close to the same, I can do that.

Man that's horrible. I would have never give them a chance after they said they wanted 1k more and changed their mind. I understand why you agreed but stick to your guns and don't accept the truck under any circumstances from these people

+1 to what everyone else is saying.....don't back down and threaten legal action (and media exposure) if they don't play ball or keep making it hard on you.

Please post the dealer info here as a warning to anyone else not to even consider buying from them....they merit no protection from you or anyone and need to be exposed (and probably go out of business sooner than later). With what you said about it being dirty on the inside and the salesguy telling you to go ahead and just take off it really sounds like they are a bunch of shysters who knew that the truck was infested with mold, thought they had a sucker to take it off their hands and hoped you wouldn't notice.

Is this a lease or full on purchase?

They should be able to cancel the sale as it hasn't gone through FCA yet. I had one that I actually had for 5 days and the dealer had to cancel the sale of as they couldn't find one for me. Talk to the manager and they should be willing to do that. My dealer did the complete opposite though and tried to sell me a $10K more truck then I had. Good luck hope you find another one you like as they are great trucks.

Sounds like the forum supports pushing hard on this one, and TV/social media would be a good start IF the dealer doesn’t wise up. I’d be a bit careful flaming the dealership on the public forum unless TV has done it first, we don’t have any proof (this is all second hand). Not casting any doubts, just normal precautions.

DEFFFINITELY do not take that truck! Absolutely, 1000% no. If you do, you're nuts. I do not care what they do, what they say. Do not. It should have never been delivered that way. They obviously inspected nothing. Not only shouldn't you accept that truck, both of those dealers should be reported to FCA for not inspecting and preparing those vehicles properly. How embarrassing. @RamCares should document and escalate. Walk (run) away from this truck and this dealership for it's unprofessional practices. Raising the price after you agreed upon one? Wow! If you do accept another truck from them, I would make sure it's the same truck but now I'd be asking for $1000 LESS just to stick it to them. Then again, lots of great deals out there right now.

I would never take a truck that already has a mold issue regardless of how they intend to clean it. They should get another vehicle of equal or higher value. Stand firm and demand a replacement or cancel the deal. Be sure to contact FCA immediately.

Not sure what your state laws are but you should have a 3 day or so rescind option. Look at your paperwork and take action immediately.
Probably not... "Cooling off" periods are usually for things like door to door sales, not the process of buying a vehicle.

Our state has the 3-day law. I was told even after mine finally delivers, if I don't like it, I can still decline the purchase (even though I special-ordered it online).

What state is this??? Doesn't sound legit unless you mean you can cancel & not take possession of the vehicle for 3 days after signing paperwork, etc. ....but I find it hard to believe someone could take actual physical possession of a veh. from dealer and/or drive around for up to 3 days then decide they don't want it. In fact, everything I've read says that's not doable (there was one thing I read in CA law where a buyer of a used car could buy "buyer protection" at an additional cost for a 3 day return period option):

"The federal three-day cooling-off period, however, doesn't give you the right to cancel a contract to buy a new car. Because cars lose a lot of their value the moment they're driven off the lot, allowing a cooling-off period would force dealers to sell almost-new cars at sharply discounted resale prices."

The "Three-Day Return Period" Is Nothing But a Myth

Can you return a car you've just purchased if you don't like it in the first three days? Sadly, no."

"There's no three-day return period on a car. But even though it doesn't exist, people are still adamant that they can return a car within three days for any reason.
