Never said you could edit it after it's been built, I said you can edit it after its been assigned a VIN. The VIN is assigned well before the truck is built... The VIN is assigned in D status, while it is still in D the vehicle CAN be edited, once it hits D1 and has been given a firm schedule, you are out of luck.
So basically it has to be edited when I am still at the dealer making the order because when I did my special order just like many of us here we walked out the door with out VIN numbers.

What dealership are you the general manager of?

You apparently aren't familiar with the actual build process... You may have walked out the door with a VON, but not a VIN. VIN numbers have never been assigned at the time of order, VON's are, aka VEHICLE ORDER NUMBER. I have been ordering cars and trucks with Chrysler for 14 years and never had a VIN assigned at time of order. The order hasn't even been ACCEPTED at that point... the VIN is assigned once it is accepted and hits D status.
haha I am extremely familiar thats funny you say that. I had my VIN and VON walking out the door. My order is a special case as every member here can tell you but you dont know this yet do to being a new member. Read the forum more and it will enlighten you. My order was accepted immediately.

What dealership are you a GM of? 2nd time of asking

Admittedly I didn't go back to far in the forum, but from what I could find, you ordered your truck on 4/8 and got the VON, and on 4/13 it went in to D status and you got the VIN. Those were your words:

2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Quad Cab

4/8 Order & VON #
4/13 D Status & VIN # - Scheduled
4/27 D1 Status - All parts Available
5/17 E Status - Frame

Can anyone tell me how long they have seen these 2019's in "E" status for? or what is the average anyone has read about "E" status?

That seems to contradict what you were just telling me though, so I who knows...
Feel free Mr. GM to call my dealership Griffins Hub Milwaukee they can explain to you my Vin and Von where issued before i left the dealership due to my special process I was participating in directly with the FCA and my dealership was the middle man. Keep reading the forum and you will see it was a special order through FCA due to my previous ram being a lemon. Do some research on the forum to see what other members have gone through.

E status takes less then 1 day.

Then why did you post MULTIPLE times that you ordered it on 4/8 and got the VON, which is normal, and then on 4/13 you received the VIN and D status, which again is normal. You are also seemed pretty new to the entire process in that particular thread...
I guess I miss typed and after it was typed I just copied and pasted it every time I had an update. but like I said feel free Mr. GM to call my dealer "Griffins Hub Milwaukee" and they can explain this process to you also if you really care this much. My VIN was issued by FCA with my VON before walking out the door pending a lawsuit and also a lemon law claim.

As a GM you stated you run a dealership how do you not know how long E takes? You say you have 14yrs of experience and contact the district manager so I would imagine these answers are plate fed to you.

WHAT DEALERSHIP ARE YOU THE GM OF FOR THE 4TH TIME?

Buybacks can absolutely receive priority build status, but that doesn't mean you are walking out with a VIN the day you order it.

Nothing about a buyback makes anything special, they are far more common then they should be, we've done 4 this month, and aren't a particularly large dealership in the grand scheme of things.
Dont assume please because it sure wasn't a buy back lol

When did I ever talk about E status or how long it takes? You seem to be very confused overall...
Mr. GM you just posted this. "Can anyone tell me how long they have seen these 2019's in "E" status for?" LOL it takes about 1 days Do some research on the forum and you can see this.

Having now read MOST of that same thread, NOTHING about your order seemed special, it went exactly as everyone else's does... What exactly are you implying I am missing?
I never posted that bud... That was part of YOUR post from the other thread.

LMAO are you kidding me? You never posted this? I guess it was my wording you copy and pasted from a very old post without using the "quote" button to making it appear you typed it then. Next time use the "quote" button so the wording is quoted actually instead of copy and pasting.

AGAIN... That was part of YOUR post from the other thread....
AGAIN use the "quote" and or "reply" button when you are quoting a thread instead of copying and pasting so it doesn't appear you wrote it I see your learning from your last post.

You wrote a statement and then copy and pasted mine without quoting it which makes it appear your statement. Do you understand that?

So...same team guys. I honestly thought the VON was the first step and the VIN was something everyone was excited to get a few days later. Not saying that's right or wrong

You also posted your POC, which had only a VON written it...
Yes your correct because my other POC has my address and name on it for the EP order and the build priority changed to 1 not 99

@JRS200x I took your info to be offered in good spirit and I think you did well to stay cool. Thanks for that.

@alacombe I work with and appreciate people with some of your traits. You don’t pull punches and get down to business/brass tacks and I value that... in certain circumstances that need it. I will admit though you can sound VERY gruff in some online conversations especially, and somewhat understandably, on topics which you have unpleasant experiences with. Take it for what it’s worth you know I’m still getting to know you guys, and I’m really glad you didn’t take anything personal.

I will confirm @JRS200x ’s info that even though an order isn’t allowed to be changed by the dealer after it is D, they can (and sometimes do, like mine) still call to request changes to orders. I’ve done it twice successfully in D status, though this may be in part due to Ramboxes moving as slow as molasus molassass malas... as a slug in winter. I don’t doubt some dealers will refuse considering changes even when they can, and there is of course a real cut off date when the truck gets lined up to be built. Hopefully you have a good relationship with a helpful dealer.

@BobbiBigWheels told me the rules in his neck of the woods (Canada) are slightly more stringent for dealers, limiting changes.

We've got an E-Torque with Rambox Laramie that has been on order since 5/17, it has been in JS as of 7/11, and just today had it's estimated ship date updated to 7/31. We'll see if that holds true or not.

All other E-Torque Rams are also not moving.

As for editing an order once it has a VIN, that 100% can be done, and we've done it many times.
What’s the latest you’ve been able to get a change approved by higher... can’t happen past D1 I would think. Even when at D1 specific parts are already ordered to arrive “just in time” so any changes would ripple the line right?

E-torques have been moving and getting delivered daily. For editing orders numerous members have tried and got denied which makes me think Your trick isn't going to be edited either and who ever says it is, is blowing smoke up your A**

I never heard back from my dealer about adding the Bed Utility Group. I was initially denied, then requested it again with information about contacting the regional manager. All I got was crickets. I suspect that some dealers don't want to rock the boat with their regional manager while others are not so timid. The squeaky wheels gets the oil.

My (cool) salesman admitted he couldn’t do it himself but when I explained it was important to me he sent in the request immediately. Took a couple days to confirm approval. But again it depends on the situation, my Rambox build is going nowhere fast...
