Just received and installed the lomax from Luke @ truckalterations. Great price, quick delivery, product is as read about. Seems great so far.

Valid points - and I do find myself being irritated whenever I have to find help with taking off the solid cover. My poor wife ...

Just a bit concerned about the numerous comments regarding leaks in the folding tops. Plus , during the winter when there’s ice and snow, how challenging is it to open the panels?

I think you'll get water in the back corners with a solid cover. Water gets in through the big gaps on each end of the tailgate. There are no seals.

After reading through all of the posts I'm leaning towards the Lomax. I have 2 questions.
1. It can hold 400 lbs of evenly distributed weight. Can I walk around on it to clean top of truck/skylight? I had an Extang back in the day and I could walk on it no problem.
2. Can you open (including remote lower) and close without lifting Lomax up?
Thanks!

I agree with you....I very much like the pro X15.....they did make an effort to "fix" the engineering problem with me but I ran out of patience as they wanted more and more info and measurements. …….I figure that was THIER job to get it right BEFORE selling it. I have made mine "work" but it s not water tight because of the misfit …...I am only using it until I can get the fiberglass cap I want.....sure hope the cap manufactures make sure that they fit before selling them!!

I ordered an x15 for my 5'7 bed.
Fitment was ok. There was a small gap (less than 1/2" on the tailgate side. The small flap doesn't sit on the tailgate. I called and asked them for a large seal like in front and they mailed it out. Once that is replaced, I'll be happy.

After reading reviews online and on this forum, I decided to purchase the Lomax trifold tonneau. I installed the bed rug and the tonneau today and both look great on my truck! I’ll watch closely over the next few days to see if there are any leaks. Thanks to Lucas for his help and great pricing on my cover.

Don't know about question #1. I do not plan to walk on mine. As to question #2, I can release my tailgate with my remote while the cover remains closed. Luke was very easy to work with, and very quick to respond to my query, and even faster shipping to me. Highly recommend.

It was cold this weekend when I installed the Lomax, so I did not really look it over once I got it on. Coming from a Retrax on my last truck, I can tell you that I prefer this Lomax over the Retrax. With the exception of the occasional hang up where the Retrax would not roll up, I had no real complaints. I like to roll around with my Pano and rear window open most days. I did not like hearing the Retrax rattling around in the wind. The Lomax is quiet, very easy to operate, and even easier to install/remove. Just washed my truck, as it’s 40 here today. This is the only water I could find in the bed, and I think that dripped in when I lowered the tailgate.

Much happier now with my x15 cover..
Here is the before and after pics of the gap at the tailgate.

I called truxedo and asked for a front header front seal because the gap wasnt covered by the rear seal.

www.retrax.com if you are interested in a retractable cover...best in the business! Mine looks AWESOME:)

Hey pal, would you mind telling us, exactly how much room the retrax takes up? I ordered the 6'4 bed because i do a lot of work out of mine hauling large equipment. The only thing holding me back is not knowing/seeing just how much room you lose in the bed. Also, did you get a good deal? I see the regular price is just over 1800. Thanks.

After I installed mine yesterday, I closed my self up inside the bed and I can see gaps at the outer edges where is meets the tailgate. Is this normal? How does one fix the gaps so it doesn’t leak? I also see a very small amount of light at the front where the top lays on the front wall of bed.

Reposition the tonneau, go to auto parts store and pick up some additional Weather strips, apply black silicon caulk to exposed gaps. Really depends on how much effort you put into it.

On a business trip so can’t go out and measure but I believe it’s about 12 inches for the box. I posted a link of where I got mine and you can save over $200 with a simple phone call and get free shipping. I paid $1610 for the Pro MX for a 5’7” bed.

Don’t use caulk! Simple weather stripping will work just fine.

I de-badged my Peragon cover today. Very quick and simple to do as there were only a couple of really sticky badges and a label. I like the look of no-advertisements and logos on the cover.

I wanted a non-black cover as I put stuff in the bed I'd rather not bake in the Texas heat. I figure white might help with the heat. I went with a color-matched Ivory Tri-coat Peregon cover as it met all my specs:

- solid aluminum and stainless steel hardware
- double dead-bolt
- locks with a key, not going to be opened with a coat hanger.
- no canister
- no lost bed space when I need all of it (folded cover removes/re-installs in about 30 seconds and stows in the back seat, bed, garage, etc)
- low-profile, sleek look
- fully opens/closes instantly
- color matched to the truck. Not into the generic black cover.

Why is the Paragon not getting the love the Lomax is? I'm leaning towards the Lomax but this looks very nice with a similar price point (Paragon is 20% off with code). Thoughts?
I do live in Wisconsin, thinking snow and ice would make the folding an issue?
