1. Increased towing made me upgrade from my current 1500 truck ('13 Avalanche Black Diamond)
2. Interior - no longer feels like driving a pickup. Now pickups are equal to luxury SUV's.
3. Ram over Chevy or Ford - interior luxury, loaded with features, towing load.
Was never a Ram fan, actually didn't see anything that would make me really look into them before. But once I saw the 2019 Limited 1500, I was blown away. Then when I went back to look at Sierra Denali's and Silverados - they looked all plastic and less ****pit like, more old station wagon-ish.

I feel very similar. I have been looking at buying a truck for about 5 years now. Over that time I was pretty much sure I was going to get a f150 when the time came. I’m not a person that is super loyal to one brand. I’m loyal to what is best when I’m buying, and what I think brings me the best value (part of being a finance major I guess lol).
Come last fall when I decided I would be buying a truck when I figured out what I wanted, I didn’t even have RAM on my radar. Honestly hated them growing up. The style wasn’t my taste. Never liked the hood or the grill. But I’m not a beefy sporty truck guy, I tend to like the more luxury look. I loved the look of Sierras the last few years, specifically the Denali. I loved the price I could get on a Silverado ltz and was indifferent on the look of them. Drove the f150 and loved it, but they don’t discount much so they were expensive like the denali, without the good look, but felt like a much higher quality truck.
I test drive all three. Absolutely hated the Silverado. Full of cheap plastic, didn’t drive that nice, just nothing at all that impressed me. Even at the lesser price I couldn’t do it.
Drove the Denali. Loved the look of it, but essentially was a Silverado. Not worth the price tag just for the pretty looks.
Was heading from my local gmc dealer back to the ford dealer to test the 150 one more time. On the way was a ram dealer. I told my wife we should stop and do our due diligence, but I knew there was no way I would pick a RAM, because I couldn’t stand them.
When seeing the new grill (which is honestly still not my favorite, wish it didn’t have the word RAM in the middle of it), I didn’t mind it as much, and the new headlights on the Limited looked good. But when I got inside it wasn’t even a comparison between materials and style of the RAM compared to all the others. The RAM was superior in every way. Then took it for a test drive. It was superior there too. The f150 was close on ride quality, but that was about it.
For me towing and hauling wasn’t a deciding factor. Any of the full size pickups could pull or haul anything I would likely be using it for.

what do you mean "returned"? Turned it in early and took the hit? And when you say Audi basically "turned you down" i don't understand, turned you down FOR WHAT? An exchange in collateral? (Sorry, super dense here : )

We've leased AT LEAST 3 vehicles in the past couple of years and just within a few months into the 3 year lease wanted out of ALL 3 (yeah, we never learn!) Each time,
all we did was bring in the vehicle for an appraisal and luckily since we had put something down, they all pretty much broke even.

DJW, maybe i'm not understanding the request for info?! Are you asking how to get out early of a current lease you're in?!

I do know this, some dealers/Mgrs aren't even schooled on "how to treat an appraisal on a leased vehicle..." On one of ours, one dealer said "Can't be done" and when we easily got it done at next dealer, we went back to him and showed him our deal (he was a nice guy so we wanted him to know he was missing some opportunities : ) And he was like, "Dang did not know this process was so easy" and apologized profusely to us. A year later when we'd stupidly gotten into another lease we weren't happy with, (i know : ) we went back to him and wound up getting his Laramie Demo with 6 inch lift & wheels in a killer deal!

Sorry I should have elaborated more. I was in a 2015 Q7. My lease actual return date is March 22 2019. After I made my last payment February 22, 2019, I returned the Audi Q7 to Audi Dealer. I didn't want to keep the car any longer for two reasons, I passed he lease mileage allowed, and because I could not pass up the Laramie deal. Audi Financial turned me down when I asked if the price at lease end is negotiable, they said no, it is whatever the residual value is, it is non-negotiable. The Audi dealer basically said they don't control the lease end price.

2019 RAM 1500 Laramie Sport - Crew Cab 4x4 w/ e-locker and 3.92's. Has the 12" screen, 19-speaker H/K system and pano roof, plus 6.4' bed.

MSRP: $61,280. Dealer asking price was $49,000 with all regular incentives and their own price reductions, and I got them down to $47,500 and to beat my bank's interest rate. Add back the destination and taxes and we're back up to $52,000 before my down payment.

They (Koons CJDR) are a volume dealer, not to mention my wife and I bought our two Jeeps from them as well (a 2015 Grand Cherokee Summit, and 2017 Wrangler Sport). I traded in the Grand Cherokee, but they only paid off the balance of the note, which is all I wanted.

Just bought mine today. 39 month lease @ 12,000 miles per year.

Laramie 1500 Crew Cab
MSRP: $59,735
Dealer Negotiated Price: $50,500
Rebates: $1,500
Residual: 52% ($31,062.20)
Money Factor: 0.00088 (2.112% APR)

Plus the usual title, destination, and acquisition fees. I also got the windshield and paint protection warranties for half off (~$1k total for both of them) just in case there are dings on the windshield when and if I trade it in.

Overall, not too bad of a deal but not great.

The quality of the truck makes up for the lack of an amazing deal though and I've never had much luck negotiating in dealerships no matter how hard I try :).

Doesn't your insurance company cover windshield damage?

Quick question related to that - sorry to take this on a tangent, but this would be a place where others may have experienced this or have knowledge - then back to MSRP's!

Just bought a factory order 1500 LTD (see earlier $68K MSRP, $57K OTD), and will be buying a Tahoe in the spring/summer - and trading both current vehicles in or selling privately (auto trader makes it easy). But. . . As luck would have it, just this month, both current vehicles had a rock kick up and put a chip in one window, and a 6" crack in the other near the inspection sticker. And here in lies my question - should I make the 2 glass claims and have them repaired before trading in and risk claims making rates increase, or , try to trade them in with the small cracks. How much would those cracks negatively effect the trade in value. I have until late April until the Ram comes in to decide.

Any dealer would take advantage of this. Especially considering it a safety issue, and they legally cannot sell a car with a 6" crack. a rock chip, just hope they don't see it. I purchased a jetta in the past with a 2ft crack line, I waited a week, called the insurance company and said a rock hit it on the highway. They replaced it, rates stayed the same (its not an accident). Plus I am paying for windshield coverage.

Great. That's what I was figuring, just wanted to have it confirmed. They would smile widely as they would be able to say "Oh, well, that's gonna lower the trade in value." I'll calling my insurance company today for glass repair/replace.

I think it takes a day or two to update the website. I called FCA this morning and the same rebates are in effect but instead of $3750, it’s $3500 on Big Horn and Laramie went from $2750 to $2500.

I am looking at your window sticker and comparing it to mine and curious of something. Did they take the Heated Steering Wheel and Heated Seats mention off the sticker or do you have a Truck with heated rear seats but not heated front seats?

Good catch - I never noticed that. It does have heated and ventilated front seats, along with the heated wheel. Which reminds me, I need to turn off the automatic on feature for that - it's been burning my rear every morning now haha!

The one thing I noticed too is that they added the Hemi into the option column despite it already being at the top left. Seems they are all like this from the ones I checked out, but almost seems like a double-charge for the engine that appeared standard at the top.

I didn’t think of that. Maybe. What I wanted was something similar to Ford’s WearCare insurance that waives $5,000 in damages so that way I wouldn’t get hit with a bill if I wanted to trade the truck in. I figured if they said you need a new windshield in order to trade the truck in the insurance paid for itself. But yeah if my insurance covered that it was a waste.

So my dealer shared with me my potential order and I was hoping to clarify some of the values relative to MSRP, Invoice, FFP, HB, and EP.

The MSRP is $67,590. If I read this correct the column next to it indicates the invoice price, so $61,796?
The FFP, which I understand is Friends and Family = $61,253
EP, or Employee Price is $58,906.
HB or Hold Back (what the dealer is making to sell to me at Invoice?) is $1,977

If they are offering me $59,896 then as I read this that is better than me trying for the Affiliate approach from someone like Tread Lightly as they get 1% below Invoice?

This would be an order so I am rolling the dice on Rebates when the truck comes in - hopefully another 2-3K.

Does this look reasonable? I see this as a DEALER DISCOUNT of $7,694 (price offered off of MSRP)

Last question - I would love to order this truck with the eTorque motor but in the past it has then grayed out the ORG. I am going to try and have them submit this as a purchase as suggested elsewhere and hopefully I can get eTorque AND the ORG (and the rest of my wish list). Any input on that? I thought I read someone suggested eTorque, ORG and Pano roof would no longer be available together due to weight restriction or something?

Thanks for any help - hoping to order Monday or Tuesday now (just need to find a dealer with a Patriot Blue so I can see in person first before ordering).

I have almost the exact same order. Just no ORG or body color bumpers. I think I read somewhere that you cannot get the ORG with either the Ramboxes or pano sunroof. But you'll have to double check.

MSPR $68,000
Invoice $62,000
OTD $56,250 +TTT
Final price with tax etc = $60,543. Dealer tried to sneak in a quick $299.90 but I caught it and he removed it after I said, YES, it is negotiable. I was able to get $3750 on rebates. See my posts earlier listing the rebates.
