I was driving my truck home from the dealership and taking on mass insect casualties. Instinctively, I hit the wiper fluid button and zamboni-ed the flattened squish off of my windshield, thinking in a satisfied way - Bravo Zulu, wiper system; glad you're on the team. Fast forward about 20 minutes, when after the latest salvo of kamikaze insects had obscured my view, I go to employ my tried and true wiper system, just as it decides to commit mutiny against me.

No matter how I vary the "variable" section of the switch, it maintains the "low" speed. "Hi" speed seems to work properly. When I press the wiper fluid button it sprays the fluid and wipers come up, only to stop in some mid cycle position - it doesn't even complete one cycle, let alone 2-3. I then need to turn the wipers on in the intermittent or low speeds (which as stated, is functionally the same), and test my reflexes by finding the appropriate time to stop the wipers at the proper lay-down position.

Has anything similarly happened to anyone else?
This was my fix. All good so far, but I've only had it back for one night. It did take like 3 weeks for the part to come in.

I got my truck back Saturday. The dealership replaced the wiper motor. It only took a few days and everything is as-good-as new. And they gave me a loaner while they had my truck. FCA and Southfork Dodge handled the situation very well in my opinion.

I have been having problems with the sequencing of the switch/operation of my wipers. For example: Intermittent 1 - nothing, Position 2 works like low operation, Position 3 intermittent, Position 4 operates like low, Low - does nothing, High works. Seems random too. Works sometimes, others like described or different. Like they are possessed. Anyone else?

Do you have rain sensing wipers?

I just picked up my 2020 laramie level 1. But it has auto dim and am almost sure rain sense. The intermittent feature is kinda random as past poster stated. First click usually nothing second might work at times if raining and third click works like low if raining and seems to be pretty decent for light off and on rain. Kinda think i like it better when I just pick rate of intermittent delay. Is there a way to shut off rain sense and just operate like regular wipers?

Went to the dealer today. Ended up having a bad wiper motor. Kinda disappointing being the truck just hit 7000 miles.

Also stitching on the steering wheel was coming lose in one spot. So got the approval for a replacement steering wheel. They estimated one or two weeks for the wiper motor and three or four weeks for the steering wheel. No wiper during winter is not fun.

Hi eyeguy,

Per page 51 of your Owner's Manual, it states the following regarding Rain Sensing Wipers: This feature can be programmed through the Uconnect system. Push the SETTINGS button, then press the Settings button on the touchscreen (if equipped) to display the Settings menu screen. Within this menu, search for the Rain Sensing Auto Wipers setting and set it to off.

Additionally, the sensitivity of the system can be adjusted with the multifunction lever. Wiper delay position 1 is the least sensitive, and wiper delay position 4 is the most sensitive. Position 3 should be used for normal rain conditions. Positions 1 and 2 can be used if the driver desires less wiper sensitivity. Position 4 can be used if the driver desires more sensitivity. Place the wiper switch in the O (off) position when not using the system.

Hi Bufo,

I certainly understand your sentiments here. Please know that I would be more than happy to escalate a case on your behalf to connect you with a case specialist who can assist with trying to get the parts in as soon as possible. Kindly follow up with me via PM if this would be of interest!

Brought my truck in yesterday. Had an error code stating signal wasn't getting sent properly. They cleared the code and wipers are working. Ordering part to replace under warranty. I assume it is the lever/switch mechanism.

The unbelievable part about this issue is you would think after you notified the dealer about this they would down the truck for safety concerns. I brought mine in they said yeah it's the motor it will be in , in three days come back then. Lucky it didn't rain in the mean time.

From the 2019 owners manual page 72:

Rain Sensing Wipers — If Equipped
This feature senses rain and snowfall on the windshield and automatically activates the wipers for the driver. The feature
is especially useful for road splash or overspray from the windshield washers of the vehicle ahead. Rotate the end of
the multifunction lever to one of four settings to activate this feature.

NOTE:
This feature can be programmed through the Uconnect system. Refer to “Uconnect Settings” in “Multimedia” for
further information.

The sensitivity of the system can be adjusted with the multifunctionlever.
Wiper delay position 1 is the least sensitive, and wiper delay position 4 is the most sensitive.

NOTE:
Position 3 should be used for normal rain conditions.
Positions 1 and 2 can be used if the driver desires less wiper sensitivity.
Position 4 can be used if the driver desires more sensitivity
.
Place the wiper switch in the O (off) position when not using the system.

NOTE:
• The Rain Sensing feature will not operate when the wiper switch is in the low or high-speed position.
• The Rain Sensing feature may not function properly when ice, or dried salt water is present on the windshield.
• Use of Rain-X or products containing wax or silicone may reduce Rain Sensing performance.

I just purchased a 2019 RAM 2500 Limited with the Cummins motor and I totally enjoy the truck but I'm now having these same issues with my wipers. I've double-checked the wipers with the Auto-sensing both ON and OFF and I get the same results. It started out to where the wipers would be jittery and slow and pause sporadically but now this morning the wipers don't work in any position or even when I push the wiper fluid button on the end of the knob they still don't work. I took a video of it to prove what's going on and I'll be calling/taking it to the dealership. Thankfully I'm covered bumper to bumper for 7yrs/100K miles :).

I've had my Laramie for 2.5 years now (65,000miles) and my wipers just started acting up. Had a good bit of snow and when I hit the wipers they went back and forth a couple of times then stopped.
Now it's intermittent, sometimes they work, sometimes they stop in the middle of the windshield. I can manually push them to restart them moving, but it sounds like my motor is failing....
