So I'm driving to work today in the rain and my wipers stopped working. I had the wipers in intermediate position when they started slowing down ,and hoping across the windshield and then they Just stopped. I put them in the low position they started working again ,then stopped again. I decided to try the high position and that worked, that's all I had was high.
Took the truck to the dealer they told me that my wiper motor was junk and they had to order a new one.
Anybody heard of this happening?

I thought I had a problem with mine not working once; until I finally figured out that I had the automatic/rain sensing system turned on and it was working the way it should. Not saying that was the case here, but I thought mine were broken for sure.

That's I first for me I haven't had any problems with the wipers as of yet. Maybe it won't take them too long to get it fixed.

Did the same thing! It would do one cycle and stop.

Read the manual and turned off the auto sensing wiper option.

Not a great design...switching the function of the wiper switch like that!

They replaced the wiper motor today ,everything seems to be working. Yeah, I originally thought it was the rain sensing wipers that's why I checked to make sure they were off. I noticed over the winter they were slow even with just a little bit of snow. So I think it was only a matter of time before the motor finally have out.
Well it's fixed now , hopefully no more issues.

i was driving my Limited on the interstate in the driving rain last night and my wipers STOPPED working...….VERY DANGEROUS.

I got off the highway and replaced the fuse with no effect.

I was 90 minutes from home but i had to limp to a hotel for the night...……...this morning after driving for an hour in dry conditions my wipers came back on!! I hope they can diagnose this but I am not too confident. My truck has a history of water issues and it would appear that something got wet that should not have gotten wet.

FYI....i would also suggest that anyone NOT rely on the connected services fucntions of your truck. I have tried them on 2 separate occasions with no success.....basically you are on your own.

I had the exact thing happen to me today! They were working and then just stopped. Several hours later and they still don't work.

Yeah it sucked. I at least had high speed on the wipers.
I thought maybe it had something to do with the rain sensing wipers, so I turned that off. Still only high speed. Take it to the dealer , had to wait a day for them to over night the new motor. Good luck

Thanks for the reply. I guess I’ll be taking it in to the dealer as well.

I am having the recalls for the pedal and ground cable performed when they get the parts in. I hope the dealer doesnt give me a hard time about the wiper situation.

I was driving my truck home from the dealership and taking on mass insect casualties. Instinctively, I hit the wiper fluid button and zamboni-ed the flattened squish off of my windshield, thinking in a satisfied way - Bravo Zulu, wiper system; glad you're on the team. Fast forward about 20 minutes, when after the latest salvo of kamikaze insects had obscured my view, I go to employ my tried and true wiper system, just as it decides to commit mutiny against me.

No matter how I vary the "variable" section of the switch, it maintains the "low" speed. "Hi" speed seems to work properly. When I press the wiper fluid button it sprays the fluid and wipers come up, only to stop in some mid cycle position - it doesn't even complete one cycle, let alone 2-3. I then need to turn the wipers on in the intermittent or low speeds (which as stated, is functionally the same), and test my reflexes by finding the appropriate time to stop the wipers at the proper lay-down position.

Has anything similarly happened to anyone else?

Just a thought......maybe the bugs building up over rain sensor is causing wipers to make odd decisions?

Anybody here still having issues? My truck went in to the dealer yesterday for the same thing, still waiting on a response from them. Had the truck for less than a week and I'm already in a loaner, not happy!

I believe the same thing happened to me on the way home tonight. The wipers are currently stopped in the middle of the windshield and won't move regardless of the setting. This is probably serious enough to warrant a safety complaint with NHTSA. I'll be headed to the dealership in the morning, but considering I'm still waiting on the brake pedal recall parts (since February) I have lost faith that Ram Cares.

Mine ended being a shorted wiper motor. Took the dealer a week to get the new motor, they initially said it was "back ordered indefinitely". I've had the truck back not for 2 days and it's been working fine. My concern it what actually caused the short? Is there some electrical gremlin just waiting to happen again? Hope not.

Electrical problems on these trucks would kill them. Hopefully FCA has your issue taken care of and nothing else comes up.
