Wind noise

Alex, perhaps you can find out why my 2 requests last week for Supervisor call backs have also gone unfulfilled?

Regards

Hi muddy2ho,
Unfortunately, I do not have access to that information, but I have noted this in your case.

I'm having the same issue of the whistling noise coming from the passenger side. 2019 Ram 1500. Very annoying, makes you not want to drive the truck.

I have a 2019 1500 limited, and have a horrible noise as well. I would describe it as a howl, and only happens at highway speeds on a windy day. My fear of taking it to the shop without diagnosing it is on a calm day, they are going to have to go pretty fast to try to replicate it (90ish), but on windy days it happens at lower speeds (60-70). I don't see them being willing to drive it that fast
Hopefully the yt link below works and you can hear the howling/whistling. Anyone else's sound like that?

Hi, Did you ever find a solution for this wind noise? Thanks

Update: Seriously?...

Thursday - Case Manager stated at 3pm that he would know if they were going to go forward with the trade in, and what the offer would be (he's said this at least 5 times in the past 2 weeks). I also requested a Supervisor call back.

Friday - Left 2 voicemails for the Case Manager asking for status, no response. Also, no call back from Supervisor. Requested for a Supervisor call back again.

Today - Left voicemail for Case Manager this morning for status, no response. Also, no Supervisor call back from either of my requests on Thursday and Friday for Supervisor call back.

Meanwhile, next week will make 2 months since they've touched my truck when the cab seal was installed on June 14th (not to mention, 7 1/2 months of owning a whistling truck). It's now 2 weeks into a supposed 3 day process to get the trade in approved/completed as I was told at the start of this process.

The only communication they've had with my dealership is leaving the Salesman a voicemail asking to hold the truck I selected for the trade in, which a week later they are still doing.

This is my first time dealing with anything like this, but my lord, is this really how FCA handles their customers?

If it makes you feel any better, I went through the same thing with ford and their dealerships as well as regional managers etc. I had to get an attorney and lemon law my truck. From what my attorney told me, all the american car companies handle things like this although it seems like rams generally have more issues than fords usually do.

Quick update
Removed A pillar at the bottom corner tucked in a thick microfiber towel , test drive noise gone completely, pull the towel noise is back clearly, tucked in the towel back again and put the A pillar back, asked the dealer to take a look at it they said it has to be e on Tuesday when leak team is there. I work Tuesday so I can't go there. It is pretty quiet now so no problem
I did notice when i open the doors i can see quite a bit of daylight all the way to the front of the truck, i stuffed a towel in the bottom of the A pillar - post
Ill test drive in the morning
Im a little confused when you say "you removed the A pillar" can you clarify ?

Thanks to those that have responded to my posts.

Another update, if you want to call it that at this point.

The Trade In:
So, for 3 weeks or so my Case Manager was working on getting a trade in approved to get me out of this whistling truck. Finally the week before last the Case Manager actually spoke with the GM of the dealership, the result? A complete joke.

FCA was offering 5% off MSRP and expected me to roll the depreciation of my current truck into the new one, are you kidding me? The reason we were working on a trade in was to get me out of a truck with a FACTORY DEFECT, not because I was looking to trade. In what world should I be expected to roll over $10,000 of depreciated value into a new loan?

The truck is 8 months old, still has less than 2,000 miles on it, has a factory defect that FCA has been unable to resolve, and I'm expected to pay the deprecation on it? This has to be some sort of cruel joke, no?

The Buy Back:
While working the "trade in" the Case Manager also tried to get a buy back approved, and of course, it was denied.

We Have Another Fix Idea:
The same day I was told the Buy Back was denied, they supposedly had a new bulletin come through that they thought would address the whistling issue. The Case Manager called me the following Monday (8/12) to notify me the earliest the Dealership could take the truck in was the following Tuesday, (yesterday, 8/20). He stated he was working to have them take the truck in earlier and would be in touch.

Monday (8/19):
Have not heard from the Case Manager since the previous Monday (8/12), so I called the dealerships Service Department, I had no idea if they were taking the truck in on Tuesday or not, since the Case Manager never got back to me.

Service Department informed me what FCA asked them to do to my truck had already been done on a previous visit. Great....

Left voicemail with Case Manager asking, what's next?

Today (8/21):
Still no response from the Case Manager, I haven't heard from him since last Monday (8/12).

The Good News!
I have another payment on my $55,000 tea kettle in 8 days, YAY! I'm not even sure what to say anymore, it's beyond laughable at this point.

I hope others are having better luck dealing with FCA, they are certainly doing their best to make sure I never purchase another of their products.

I have dropped mine off for final fix. If they cannot fix it - it continues down the path of Lemon Law replacement. @muddyh2o I suggest getting started on Lemon paperwork. FCA won't replace the truck unless forced to by state law.

(muddyh2o) I have the same tea kettle issue, but it is hard for me to reproduce. I have recorded the noise on video, but I it hasn't happened to me in a while. That said, I had an idea. I think the noise sounds just like the ParkSense monitor. Can you try and disable the system when you hear the tea kettle noise to see if that solves the problem? Please let me know if that works.

Purchased a 2019 Ram 1500 Longhorn six weeks ago. Have noticed the "tea kettle" whistle also on multiple occasions. All have been at highway speeds (70-80) and most with a cross wind. Seems to come from both sides of windshield. Thought maybe front windshield did not have enough sealant from factory. Will be taking it for first oil change and to have issue looked at this week.

The recirc thing works for me. However after a few minutes the noise will come back even with re-circ off.

I am a collision repair facility that does warranty repairs for local Dodge Dealer. Working on a 2019 Ram crew, less than 10K on odometer, with "tea kettle" whistle, in rt front area of cabin. No sunroof, extended mirrors. Pulling the A pillar trim lets you hear it more clearly, but does not affect the whistle. We have taped the entire rt side of truck, no luck. We have taped the windshield sides and top and satellite antenna, no luck. We removed the antenna mast, mirror assy, running board, taped off emblems, etc. We removed the factory cowl screen to find the factory sealing tape disfigured and incorrectly applied, so we fixed that, no luck. If we tape off all the openings in the cowl screen, including vent holes, rain weep holes, and the wiper arm holes, WE ELIMINATE THE "tea kettle". As we remove the tape one area at a time, the "tea kettle" comes right back. The only hole we can remove and stay silent is the passenger most vent hole. I am enclosing pics. I have read nearly every thread so far and thank you for the great leads. I have two days in this so far and we are to the point where we can make it stop, but taping off holes isnt fixing the problem. To me, it appears we are slowing the volume and velocity of air entering the cowl area so it can't pressurize the area of the leak, hence eliminating the "tea kettle". I am beginning to wonder if the previous posts about Crown Dodge having to remove the dash and reseal stuff on a different Ram is gonna be where this Ram is headed. RAM ENGINEERS, ARE YOU READING THIS? Looking for some new info or ideas. thanks in advance.

Just bought a 2019 Limited and first road trip, highway speed, some cross wind, this nightmare began. Did it most of the trip and I got several recordings, but of course the dealer could not duplicate and I’m stuck with a $70k tea kettle. I hope to god this gets resolved and it doesn’t involve ripping out the entire dash because that will most likely generate 20 other vibrations, rattles, and issues. Any luck with those lemon law cases? Here are some videos at different stages of the trip.

There is no fix for this - don't bother.
There has to be a fix. If you can reproduce, please try to turn your ParkSense off. I think it will work.

Sure I will try. Although I have no idea how it is related. I’ve had my dash torn apart twice for repairs and still no resolution.

Just for ****s and giggles I tried the park sense. As expected, it did nothing. I appreciate the effort and trying to move forward towards the resolution, but lets try a little thinking when troubleshooting. Turning ParkSense off changes nothing mechanically, it only electronically tells the truck not sense and report. We know the noise is coming from the AC door area in the dash. Hence when a mechanical change (recirc) is triggered, the noise is affected.
