Wind noise

Mine will get the sound on a stiff cross wind at 70 mph it is annoying wish ram would fix this. BTW My ram dealer sucks as well.

I am a collision repair facility that does warranty repairs for local Dodge Dealer. Working on a 2019 Ram crew, less than 10K on odometer, with "tea kettle" whistle, in rt front area of cabin. No sunroof, extended mirrors. Pulling the A pillar trim lets you hear it more clearly, but does not affect the whistle. We have taped the entire rt side of truck, no luck. We have taped the windshield sides and top and satellite antenna, no luck. We removed the antenna mast, mirror assy, running board, taped off emblems, etc. We removed the factory cowl screen to find the factory sealing tape disfigured and incorrectly applied, so we fixed that, no luck. If we tape off all the openings in the cowl screen, including vent holes, rain weep holes, and the wiper arm holes, WE ELIMINATE THE "tea kettle". As we remove the tape one area at a time, the "tea kettle" comes right back. The only hole we can remove and stay silent is the passenger most vent hole. I am enclosing pics. I have read nearly every thread so far and thank you for the great leads. I have two days in this so far and we are to the point where we can make it stop, but taping off holes isnt fixing the problem. To me, it appears we are slowing the volume and velocity of air entering the cowl area so it can't pressurize the area of the leak, hence eliminating the "tea kettle". I am beginning to wonder if the previous posts about Crown Dodge having to remove the dash and reseal stuff on a different Ram is gonna be where this Ram is headed. RAM ENGINEERS, ARE YOU READING THIS? Looking for some new info or ideas. thanks in advance.

Just bought a 2019 Limited and first road trip, highway speed, some cross wind, this nightmare began. Did it most of the trip and I got several recordings, but of course the dealer could not duplicate and I’m stuck with a $70k tea kettle. I hope to god this gets resolved and it doesn’t involve ripping out the entire dash because that will most likely generate 20 other vibrations, rattles, and issues. Any luck with those lemon law cases? Here are some videos at different stages of the trip.

Update to my whistle situation.

Initially I thought I was only getting the rear whistle noise when I had a window down or cracked open a bit, however this past weekend I got to take it on the highway. Low & behold, I'm getting the darn whistle noise at highway speeds with the windows UP.

It's been doing this since the day I purchased it (end of Dec last year) and it doesn't sound like FCA is anywhere close to a permanent resolution (as I mentioned before, the seal in between the cab/bed did nothing for me).

My case manager is trying to do a truck swap for me at this point (fingers crossed). He's been very communicative & understanding in trying to get this resolved asap for me.

Here's a link to a short video I made from this past weekend while I was on the highway. This noise is constant, after 7 hours straight of it, I was ready to rip my ears out. I move the phone to the back so the whistle noise is more clear on video, however this noise is very audible in the front seats when in the the truck as well.

I still have to get all of my paperwork gathered up and sent to my lawyer, but if you guys are having issues DO NOT trade into a new RAM vehicle. I did the same thing. I've been dealing with this bs for about a year now or lil longer. First truck I bought im June 18, literally had 10-12 problems 4 different dealership could not fix so I got in touch with ram higher ups FCA and they talked me into swapping out for same truck but one they would special build in Michigan. I went ahead and did it thinking surly this was a fluke and truck #2 would be good...ooo was I wrong! Second day ( new vehicle came in 11-15) started having more issues then it seemed the FCA higher ups all of the sudden did give a #@$* and they were no help once they figured out they sold me another lemon. So I've been going to the dealerships (4 different ones again)with absolutely no issues fixed and there is tons of issues this is ridiculous for a truck costing over 60k ..But where they get you on the swap is you still have to refinance, they do give some bigger rebates but you basically sign all you rights away...long story short. I'm now stuck with another and basically lost my huge down payment on the first truck and have been paying for a truck that's in the shop 3-5 days a week every week and the dealership don't give a fu#$. I'm literally paying 25k to ram to have a nervous breakdown lol..Im really serious, don't do it I've literally have never had a worse experience ...I bought a ram in 2013 with all the same BS to the T !!!. Lyist my a$$ and traded into 2 trucks so I figured I'd give ram another chance in 2018 since I love the interiors but coming from Chevy they blow ram out of the water on reliability and fit and finish and deff qc and service departments ..It's a dang shame because I love the look and interior but never ever will I @#$# my self and buy another ram ....finger in the light socket and I finally learned it only took ram robbing me of 50k 2013-2019...Good luck! I'll keep everyone posted on my RAM rape results!! Lol

I don’t have the tea kettle noise but after about 68mph (or higher), I experience a light screeching noise like needles on glass. The radio can mask it, but I can still hear it if I listen in. No idea where it is coming from besides in front of the 1st row seats.

Just for everyone's info, if this vehicle has a antenna mast, it is a 2019 Ram Classic (DS) 4th gen, not a a 5th gen DT. The DTs have a roof-mounted shark fin antenna,

Man, with the nasty job the team did during the install by rubbing the seal away from where it needed to be .. great photos!

Use windshield sealant to fill in those areas inside?

Well, my Case Manager appears to have disappeared. I spoke with him last Wednesday, and he was suppose to get back to me "the latest" last Friday. I've been leaving voicemails everyday since last Friday, and no call back.

He was also suppose to speak with the Manager of the dealership last week. I spoke to the General Manager on Monday, and was told he had not spoken to the Case Manager or was even aware of the issue with my truck.

Frustration levels are rising. At this point I'm not sure I even want another RAM, I'd prefer they just buy the truck back and be done.

That is the noise such BS I have experienced it in cross winds it is truly maddening, anyone else in the truck is like WTF is that. Uggggggggggg

Anybody had this issue or had it fixed, there is a noticeable wind noise starts at 40 miles and keep increasing with speed on the driver side !
I've got noise coming from the passenger side rear door area. At the dealership now for 2 recalls and checking door and window seals.

Another update (or lack thereof)

Was finally able to speak with my Case Manager last Thursday, apparently he was away due to a family emergency, completely understandable. He then told me that apparently I had been assigned a new Case Manager, I of course was never notified of this. He stated since he has already been working the case, he would just take it back and get back to me on Friday of last week, which of course he did not.

While I have never gone through something like this with a new (or any) vehicle, I'm failing to see the hold up at this point.

1. The truck has made this whistling noise since the day I purchased it last December. The dealership was aware of this.
2. The dealerships Service Department has implemented FCA's "fix" for this issue, which did not fix the issue. If anything, it may have made it worse.
3. The dealerships Service Department has no idea what to do next, and my Case Manager has stated that, while FCA Engineers are "working" on it, there is currently no fix imminent.
4. I recently discovered the problem is even worse after taking the truck on the highway, and getting the constant whistling noise at highway speeds with the windows up. So, now it is not just limited to driving around (at any speed over 25mph) with the windows cracked open.
5. The truck is almost 8 months old, and has 1,800 miles on it, mainly because driving it makes me want to stab my ears.

Now I'm chasing my Case Manager (if he even still is?) in trying to get him to do something he was suppose to have been doing weeks ago, which is get a buy back approved.

This being my first experience with FCA, I'm less than impressed to say the least.

Hi muddyh2o,
I am sorry to hear that you have had trouble getting in contact with your case manager. I have located your case within our corporate system and have requested that he contact you with an update. Please send our team a private message if you do not hear from your case manager within the next two business days!

I have not noticed any wind noise from the front. I do get a slight noise when I roll the drivers winder down from the drivers side mirror. The crease where the mirror folds creates a noise from the wind. If I stick my finger over the crease going down the road the noise goes away.
Have you tried putting some flocked tape in the gap ?...one side or the other. It would have to be thin enough to not impede the opening of The Mirror

Try this to see if you have the same sound that I've figured out I have. When your driving on the highway about 100kmh change from recirc on the climate control and then back to fresh air. Mine completely goes away on fresh and I hear it on recirculating. Really strange....

I'll be totally honest, I was skeptical of this. I genuinely didn't think my whistling was coming from the dash but I was wrong. Pressing the recirc button twice stops the noise completely. It's like you can hear a gap closing when you do this. The whistling will come back but it's a simple button press to be rid of it for a couple days.

Best of luck

Well... Mine is also starting to make the wind noise in the rear doors. Sounds like I can hear everything going on outside of the truck and it also sounds like the window is open. I tried to seal the doors with some extra sealant but it didn't do anything. My truck was built after the missing set of seals between the cab and bed, and mine has it after verifying. So at this point it's either poor window seals, poor door seals, or the exit vents in the back of the cab letting in a lot of sound.

I have no clue what it is, I wish I also didn't have this issue as I want people to enjoy riding in my truck and now I don't want anyone to be burdened with wind noises the whole time while riding with me.

My whistling was coming from my mirrors, high pitch, and would go away by using the power function to fold them in while driving. Still while driving I extended them out again with the window down ( i could still hear it whistling then too, it was loud!) and pulled back on the painted mirror cover a bit and felt it move just a little tiny bit and the whistling completely stopped. Worked for me and where my noise was coming from.
