Wind noise

I just noticed this on my truck as well. It did from 70 mph +, my wife was with me and recorded it but she said it was loud on her side. So much that she only thought it was on her side. I told her we had the noise on both sides. Honestly it wasn’t a normal wind whistle noise, more like my parking sensors alert/noise when I am close to something. I will try the recirc/fresh air thing tomorrow. And post my update if that helps.

So I took 3 trips since my last post, back and forth to work yesterday and to work this morning, 25 minute interstate ride, doing 70-80 mph with the recirc button on, and I get the whistle sound and long as its off, I don't hear the sound. Not sure that's a fix for everyone, but illucid mentioned in a few posts back from this and like him mine went away.

Try folding the mirrors in and see if it stops!

Heard this noise last night, an intermittent sound coming from the panoramic sunroof. It was a windy night driving at 75 to 80 mph. Sounded like BRRRRRRP. I put the sunroof in the vent position and the sound never repeated. Closed the vent and with a wind gust the sound reappeared. Sounds like the seal vibrating.

I also would like to know if someone looks into this. I get a whistle from my standard folding mirrors. At least it sounds like it is from there. When the truck is so quiet (with MDS off especially) you can hear all these noises you might not have normally heard. A whistle is different from wind noise, it is much more annoying in a quiet cab.

I think that's part of the problem, the cab is so quiet you hear "normal" noises you wouldn't have heard in other vehicles definitely got a whistle from the power folding mirrors, I think the gasket located at the hinge is inadequate it's pretty loose in there and allows wind between the seams

I have the same noise on my drivers side mirror, power folding mirrors, like everyone else, starts at 40mph, kinda not really happy with my dealer, brought the truck in two times for exhaust making noise, they cant ever hear it, and the last time I got it back, I was home cleaning it a few days after, and noticed a ding in my door. its not like I can bring it back to them a week later and say they did it, but I know 100% it was them, there lot is over full with cars, so the stick them anywhere and can find a spot. Ram care, if you read this, please reach out to me..

Its kind of like having the TV on inside a room and therefore you don't notice a sound in the next room. Now, turn the TV off and the other sounds outside the room are more apparent. The new Ram is very quiet INSIDE the cab so noises outside the cab are more noticeable.

Has anyone tried folding their mirrors in to see if the sound goes away?

Lol, that's what I thought too, how can it be so quiet yet I'm hearing noise, so I used a sound meter and measured spl at 70 mph on the freeway and barely hit 60 dB which is exceptionally quiet.
Which shows that "noise" is always relative to the level of acceptable sounds like the motor, chassis and road noise, etc. The lower the acceptable sounds, the louder the other noises are.

Like flushing the toilet at 2 AM. Sounds like a jet taking off. During the day with ambient noise through out the house you hardly notice it.

I don't believe that its unheard of to hear noises from a car or truck, But this is not normal. you should never hear wind coming over the mirror, my 2016 sport didn't make this noise, my 2017 Silverado didn't make these noise, and the 2018 rental truck (ram ) didn't make this noise..

For sure, my 15 sierra for all its issues, wind noise wasn't one of them.

I have the driver side door wind noise too, had it since truck was new, starts around 35 mph and isn't normal or caused by the standard truck mirror. Only coming from the driver side window. If you push gently where the door panel meets the drivers side window most of the wind noise stops. I have my truck at the dealer now and they have replaced the window seal which didn't fix the issue. The dealer is opening a Star case today.

We recently had high winds in Southern CA and this was the only time I experienced loud howling from the windows closer to my tow mirrors. Other than that its been quiet. Like someone was blowing hard into a saxophone.

Seriously has anyone tried what I was saying with recirc on-off at highway speed?

I just now saw your previous post. I’ll try it when the high winds come back. Mine only had howling with strong cross winds. Otherwise no noise under normal conditions and no noise at high speed.
