So I have a more generic question: if you have never done this before, how can you determine what the best size tire is that will fill the wheel wells, but will not rub? I've scoured these threads and it's all over the place. For instance, some people say a 35x12.5 on the stock rim doesn't rub, others say it does. I think I'm more concerned for contact with the UCA. I feel like I only have one shot at this, since I can't have a tire mounted, then if it doesnt work out, have a new one remounted. Is there a tire calculator out there that you can input some variables and it spits out the best sized tire?

From what I have seen so far, P295/65/20 or P295/60/20 seem to be the best. I'd like to keep the truck in the pristine condition, so I don't want to spend time bending and trimming wheel wells.

For the specs, I'm looking to do this on the stock Bighorn 20x9 wheels with the 19.05 offset. The lift is going on this week and is the Mopar 2" lift with the front ORP spring conversion. Thanks for all your help!

This may sound a little ridiculous, but if you can’t find anything online to tell if something rubs, you could make a cut out from wood or plastic the size of the overall dimensions of the tire and build up the inside with closed cell foam or cardboard to see if it rubs lock-to-lock. You would mount it like a normal wheel on the truck and have one side on a jackstand and the other with the tire sitting on the ground like normal.

To see if the outside of the tire would rub, you would install spacers behind the plywood against the rotor, then turn the wheel lock to lock.

The only problem with this is you would not be able to tell if you hit a large bump and suspension travel would cause the top of the tire to hit the fender. For that, you would need to figure out the overall travel and compare it to the larger height of the tire.

I know all that sounds like a lot of work, but it’s cheaper than making a big mistake.

For aftermarket fuel rims. Bolt pattern is 6x139.7?

Carid is giving me the following:

20" x 9", +2 Offset, 6x135 Bolt Pattern, 106.1mm Hub

Or

20" x 9", +2 Offset, 6x139.7 Bolt Pattern, 106.1mm hub?

My assumption was the first one.

I just got 20x9 fuel contra D644 added with 305/55/R20 Nitto Ridge Grappler with 0 offset on stock height 2019 laramie 4x4 with no rubbing. it's close though hit a bump too hard at full lock I may have some rub.

This is my exact setup that I want. Ordering from carid…what was the bolt pattern…so I have the right 6 lug pattern?

Sticking with this…it’s really hard to figure sizes. I out a 2” level kit on my 21 with air suspension. Have stick 22” now and want to increase tire size. Looking at 33 or 35 x12.5 x 22 but want to make sure they don’t rub, but of course fill the wheel well with beautiful Toyo AT3 rubber. Anyone have or seen something similar?

With the off-road package and 4x4 with air suspension on a limited 2109 1500, the OEM tires are 275/55R20. The 22inch wheel is not an option with the packages listed above. I had to chime in here as you are taking this exactly where I am trying to go. I want to know with out any lift kit and stock as I have listed above, what is the largest size A/T I can put on this truck without rubbing. My truck is "being built" and will be delivered at the end of July.
Have the same truck and need new tires. What did you go with and are you satisfied. I want to keep stock rims and don't want to lift. Also don't want any rubbing.

Don't know where to ask, so I will ask here. Do we have info on rim/tire weight on factory rims/tires?

For example...rebel rims and duratrac 33" tires weigh?

Reason why I'm asking...the one thing folks like me overlook is how much more heavier aftermarket wheels and tires are.

If I missed it, just let me know, I can remove my post. Thanks.

Yep, the wheel weights are post on this site. I found the info after doing some searching. The tire weights can be found on the manufacturer's website or on the tire vendor's sites. When I bought my aftermarket wheels/tires, I used that information to stay as close to OEM weights as possible.

2019 1500 lonestar with ORPand 3.92 with E locker. Just switched from factory 275/55r20 to. Falcon wildpeak A/T 285/65R20 which is 34.6 x 11.2 wide. NO level just factory ORP. Drives great fits great. Had to zip tie front inner fender liners front and back. NO Rub... super happy with ride and fit...

This is exactly what I am looking to do. Anyone have a long term report on this setup? I eventually would like to do the level kit, but I am going to need tires before that.

I'd look for a shop that can do what they call a 0 gram balance. The wheel weight they use for balancing is a flexible continuous strip that they cut to length depending on how many grams they need to balance the wheel as opposed to the individual 1/4 oz weight that most shops use. Its made by 3M and they have a lot of options for balancing here is a link to a you tube video about it.
, gm balances their factory wheels with it and there is one shop in town where I live that I know for sure has it. Make sure they test fit and rotate the wheel before driving off. It's probably going to be tough to get a 2 plane balance because they wont be able to put any weight along about the outer 2 inches of the interior edge. Depending on how aggressive the tires they may require quite a bit of weight to balance out. I didn't look at the clearance between the knuckle where the upper ball joint mounts and the lip of the rim but it may possible to use some old school lip weights or the 3M flange weight. It's really going to boil down to finding the right shop to get it dialed in.
Or use Beads

So my question is my 2019 Ram Rebel came with 275/70R18's, I was considering buying a set of tires and wheels for the summer. For improved gas mileage. Would the 275/55R20 fit my truck?

They will fit, but they'll look silly, IMO. They are more than an inch smaller in diameter than the stock tires. If you're looking to improve your fuel mileage, look for a 33" XL tire in an 18 or 20. Screenshot_20220201-133446_Chrome.jpg

That is the stock size for the Off-Road package. I don't think they look silly level small, but they for sure don't feel the wheel wells. I am going up in size for this reason.

I was wondering if any would happen to know this question about tire sizes and fitment?

I am getting a longhorn (air ride) with off road factory tires (size 275/55 20") which are 31.9"
I would like to replace them with Geolanders (size 275/55r20) which 32.2 with difference of .3 bigger
or the next taller size 34.3 (275/65/r20) with difference of 2.4 bigger. Would you know if either of these would fit? no lift just want to fit max tire size with no mods.

You've got the off road package? Keep in mind the stock Rebel tire is 33" tall, and its suspension height is the same as other trims with ORP. So you should have no problem with the first tire for sure. (Depending on which Geolandar you're looking at, they also have 275/60, 285/55, and 285/60, which are in between the height of the two tires you listed).

Got my rims and tires all setup but I have a general question about long-term.

My aftermarket set are a good deal heavier than stock....don't have the numbers, but I'm thinking a good 20 pounds heavier per tire.

Is there anything I need to worry about with the suspension, tie rods, ball joints, cv axle that can cause issue down the road?

Thanks.

Has anyone ran the 305’s? Have photos on stock 20’s?? I do have a couple sets of wheels spacers. I bought 2 2” and 1-1.5. Was thinking 1.5 up front with 2 in rear with 305-55/r20.

My goal at some point is to drop the read end 2 inches to reverse level. Add some helper bags in rear. Other wise I just plan to upgrade my shocks to better units all around. Simple.

I don’t tow, often at all… I only see dirt when I’m pulling in the drive way for work. I am in New England.. I do mostly highway driving.

I got rid of the stock Bridgestone tires. They went quick… I have Cooper Discovery AT3’s I had in a 275-60/r20. They don’t rub FYI on stock setup. I know they are heavy… they are AT which looks cool, but they just travel paved roads.

Photos, suggestions. If it was a street bike. I know what to advise… auto tire world I’m learning.

I have a 2023 on order with the 18x8 wheels and my existing 2021 has the 20x9 wheels - I have asked the dealer to swap these out when the new truck arrives to keep my existing tire/wheel combo and put the new ones on my trade-in. The dealer said no problem as long as they are compatible - is there any reason this won't work? I am assuming it is just a simple tire change as both will fit and have 6 lug nuts etc correct?
