The '21 Limited I used to own had a switch in the lower hole and a plastic piece in the upper hole. I couldn't tell you what their purpose is, but maybe someone else can chime in.

I've read the hood open light switch is in the actual latch. I've always wondered if this "extra" switch is for trucks with air suspension since you can't lower it with the hood open. Although I don't know why that system wouldn't just use the hood open switch in the latch

Think it might be more for factory security alarm.

Possibly, but there's no mention of the hood being monitored by the alarm system...

It is for the secondary hood ajar sensor for etorque equipped trucks. The hood ajar sensor in the hood latch is monitored by the BCM for the vehicle theft alarm, remote start, and hood ajar messages in the cluster. The second hood ajar sensor is monitored by the PCM for start/stop. If that sensor circuit is open, start/stop will not function (same with the secondary door ajar circuit on the driver door for etorque equipped trucks).

I can both raise and lower mine with the hood open.
I believe that switch disables auto stop/start when the hood is open

Strange that mine wouldn't go up or down with the hood open. Our current 2020 Limited won't either.

It's easy to know the answer after Jimmy already explained what it's for. :ROFLMAO:
