What did you do to your Ram today???

I added front tow hooks and with the split rubber grommets you do not have to remove the entire 9.5” bolt like the instructions and online videos show. Just loosen it about an inch and slide it on.

Also installed Bilstein 5100 rear shocks and Cargomaxx 35% increase springs. This added 1” -1 1/4 lift to the rear.

Up next is the Bilstein adjustable coils and RC UCAs in the front.

Its hard for to believe I've been here over a year and some how I NEVER ran across that. I probably did and just didn't give it much thought at the time.
Switching from a life of BMW's and Fords mainly is really a culture shock. We all know how a car runs but its that twist of a little different that changes everything.
I appreciate the help! Thank you

after you find out what gear ratio the build sheet says.
you will then have to find out what the truck actually has.

Its not the preferred one but it has an e-locker. Does an e locker require the Mopar modifier? I bought some a while back but it doesn't look like I need it.

I got both sides cleaned up today and a new gasket. I have the outside painted and in the oven. I'll spray it again in the morning and back in the oven 🤪
Tomorrow evening it should be dry enough to install again. Its all coming together but still have a ton to do... 😵‍💫

oh yeah, dealer goes by the book. 2-5k miles a year towing is not THAT much so you should be ok. I'd do it at 80k though but it's up to you.

for us, regardless of what the book says, we do all fluid at 60k, and if frequent towing/ heavily offroading is involved, then we do earlier.
The 392s that roll through the shop were all done at 30k simply because they wheel a lot.

To be honest, i don't think doing it early is a bad thing. Sure, it may be pissing money away as the fluid are rated for X amount of miles, and doing it early means fluids are within spec and not degraded, but i feel like it's just cheap insurance: like ~$400 for pan and fluids and labor (well, free labor for me) is much cheaper than replacing trans IF it fails. it's like paying insurance: you're just spending money that you're not gonna get back until IF something happens. But if nothing ever happens then... you're just pissing money away as required by law lol.

I just did coolant which is in my experience an 80-100K sort of fluid so I guess ATF is gonna happen as well. It is expensive but less so than a transmission :P

Gasket is just RTV sealant. There are places that make a gasket, if you still need to use RTV on the gasket, so.might as well not even waste money on the gasket. Or buy an aftermarket diff cover with o-ring seal.

oh yeah. if you do it yourself watch the blau auto video
i even typed out the procedures and the torque specs and torque pattern and temperature and stuff on some scrap photo papers from my 2026 calendar project.
i mean i was making a laundry list of things (2 letter sized paper long) i needed to do anyways lolll

doing everything myself one person makes the checking fluid level step a bit tricky.

WHAT ROTORS ARE THOSE?
Raybestos. I have no idea if they are any good. but we will know soon. Probably makes no difference

I bought this last week and I was planning on using it unless it's a bad idea? It just looked bad with all the RTV on it. Plus I was able to clean some nasty stuff off the magnets

I forget the brand, but it's reusable and many in the Jeep community use and I've used on my Jeep no issues.

Edit: Lubelocker

When using the factory stamped steel cover, it doesn't really sit perfectly flat. If you have an aftermarket aluminum one, it would probably work good. You'd still want some RTV to fill gaps that might happen

When I was cleaning the cover I did notice 1 or 2 dents around the bolt holes. Its so little its hard to see without thoroughly cleaning it, but since I'm nutty in the head about cleaning it jumps out at me like a complete failure. I may try it without first and if it leaks I'll change it out. The gasket is about 2 mm and I know the dents are les than 1 mm. I'll think it over... I just hate goop

Anyone know the torque specs and sequence off the top of there heads?

Whoever put that cover on the last time over "gooped" it. It doesn't take very much to seal. And actually seals better with less. They come from factory with just the rtv, so very well could have just been a **** poor job from factory

That's a terrifying thought! You could have done 10 trucks with that much 😵‍💫 what is wrong with people.
I may look for some black RTV and use a thin coating.

7 years since I posted! Still loving my 2019 RAM 1500 Limited. Now has 30,200 miles on it (mostly work from home)! Heading to California next week so decided to get new tires today --- Michelin Defender LTX MS/2 275/55R20.
Have the exact same truck! Mine has 149k on it though! Just ordered a 26 limited with night package, so will be trading in ole girl when my new one comes in.
