What did you do to your Ram today???

Still don't say why, what will happen. How about this, as I said I'm doing it to find out why not just let it at that.
I explained why in a previous post. You asked me for hard evidence, I could say the same to you. What proof do you have that running colder is beneficial? Or is this just a theory you are testing? Just because you have t noticed any issues doesn't mean there aren't any. There are guy, like me who have never had the rear window leaking on their trucks. Doesn't mean it's not an issue that many have. I put 120k miles on the factory 46RE transmission in my 99 Dakota R/T with lots of racing and a modified engine. I lost count of how many people told me it would never last once I started modding the engine. Only thing I did was fluid and filter changes every 50k miles. doesn't mean that there isn't a known issue with the 46RE and the OD unit.

Thank you, but I spent a few years on eBay and no longer trust any vendor on that site. I will not purchase anything from eBay, as there are too many fake and crappy products that are misrepresented and falsely advertised.
 
On to a different topic. Received and installed new rear cab spoiler tonight. Finally found a company making one for the panoramic sunroof trucks that didn't look like a block of plastic stuck to the cab. This is not plastic. It's fiberglass. Fits good. I got excited and installed it before reading directions. So it's just held on with 3m tape for now . But they include a tube of polyurethane sealant you are supposed to apply, inside the tape line, to help hold it on. So we will see how well the 3m tape holds up. Just like buying anywhere else, have to be vigilant to weed out the bad sellers. There are fakes and knockoffs everywhere. Bad sellers everywhere. It's not exclusive to eBay .

You are right I don't have proof of anything for keeping this trans cooler, but I have seen thousands of plastic parts, rubber piston seals, Teflon seals and more get heat sycled to death and very low mile failure. What I'm going to find out is if the temps are lower will they live longer. Like my 01 with 180k miles on it and a trans that was designed to operate at 170 but I have it run at 120 degrees.

That and the bed cover, looks good. Will or should it help with fuel mileage?

It will be hard to prove that the colder temps helped. It's very subjective. We both agree heat kills transmissions, but 160-180 isn't detrimental. Getting them over 200 degrees is. Most people don't monitor transmission temps. Shoot, most vehicles don't even have a gauge or display for trans temp . And without a scan tool you can't read it.

No different than people switching to 160 or 180 thermostats in the engine but never adjust the tune. All it's doing it hurting fuel mileage, and offers zero benefit, other than they think it's better for the engine. Engine oils are designed to provide full protection well over 200 degrees. Your a/f mixture ignites better in hotter cylinders, as long as you don't get to the point of pre-detonation. Which provides more efficient burn and better fuel economy.

I really thought and was hoping my 01 trans would've failed by now so I could tear it down and see something, but I'm still waiting for it to fail.

Aerodynamically, Should be 3-5 more mpg with that on. 😎 (LOL)
 
When we first were married I commuted out of the wife’s little one bedroom apartment in Shreveport until she could find a job in the DFW area.

This was back in 1991 so there was nothing like what we have today for tech at your fingertips.

Seeing as how it was her apartment everything was in her name and I told her once a month on the phone bill you’ll see a fifty cent charge to a 900 number and it’s just me getting a time hack off of the US Naval Observatory Master Clock and no I’m not dialing for porn.

The conversation went rapidly down hill with her asking me how do I know the US Naval Observatory has the correct time?

I told her the US Navy is ready at a moments notice to launch nuclear missiles over the North Pole and put them in Red Square so their time is good enough for me.

I took the bait, hook, line and sinker.

I still regret the day I got into an argument with my bride over the accuracy of an atomic clock but I was still young and I didn’t know how inbred it is into their genetic make up to be able in a flash to manipulate an argument into their favor no matter how little they know about the subject and how wrong they are on the matter.

They can with just a blink of an eye, a toss of their hair rapidly spin the conversation around where you are in the wrong and now you are defending the accuracy US Naval Observatory Master Clock.

Perhaps it was her time of the month, she didn’t like losing her space, perhaps it was severe case of bridal remorse at what she brought home, I don’t know but over the years I’ve learned sometimes it’s just best to back away and not take the bait.
 
Made an appointment for the local ram dealer to look at what I believe is a cracked exhaust manifold. I hate people working on my vehicles but it’s under warranty. the truck has zero rust. Only thing that looks like straight trash are the manifolds. SMH. I bet the bolts snap. why I’m just not doing it myself.

Been smelling coolant for a few days. No over heating or viable leaks. Checked the res when it cooled. Its at the very bottom. Needs some added. Book says to have the dealer do it. BS!
