Valentine used to be the best. It saved me many times driving between NorCal, SoCal, and Vegas. This was pre even early Waze days. Is the Valentine still a thing? Anyone still using it?
Yes, the Valentine One is still a good radar detector. And technology with it has advanced. IIRC they used to offer a guarantee against tickets. If you sent them your ticket and could prove you were using the Valentine One detector at the time, they would pay the fine. I mean, you'd still have a ticket in your record, but wouldn't be out the money for the fine.

That’s a matter of perspective 20 minutes means something to me maybe not to you but that just my opinion everyone has one. I have 0 stress worrying about cops because my detector will pick it up way before they can ever clock me or much less see me. While there are A LOT of good cops out there.. there are some real AH’s as well and I’ve literally gotten a ticket for going 4 mph over the speed limit story gets more interesting but nobody want to read my biography.
Like you said, matter of perspective. To me, it's just easier to set the cruise at 5 over and drive. No worrying about getting a ticket, if I need thet extra 20-30 minutes at my destination, I just leave that much earlier. As far as relying on the detector. One of the last speeding tickets I actually got, I was using one of the better radar detectors on the market at the time. Problem is, I was only car on that stretch of road. So when he flipped on his radar, once I got close enough, all the radar detector did was let me know I got caught. I didn't even wait for him to flip on his lights, I just pulled over and waited.

Yes, Valentine, Uniden, and Escort make the best out right now hands down.

Lol I get it I’m just saying that the response times in picking them up much further out than they can clock you are a lot better than they use to be here is an image to give you perspective in response times. I run the R8 0.43, 0.33, 0.27 seconds is how fast this thing picks it up so if you are 3-4 miles out from when you pick up a low single there is no reason you should get a ticket. But we can go back and forth on this all day so just for sakes of getting back on topic of “What we did to our Ram today” we can stop talking about Radar Detectors unless we want to make another thread. 🤣

Mines not new. Had it a few years now but it works well with advance notice. Mine is a Beltronics RX 65. It’s the same as the Passport Escort. I get the odd false alert, but until they actually come up with a better way to detect Laser, I don’t see any need to change It

Have a Beltronics as well and have for 10+ years now. On my 2nd one, wouldn't drive without it !!!!!!!!!!

Installed my Pedal Monster. Didn't have time to go for a drive though. 😒

While I was under there, I noticed that when the dealer installed my power steps, they just popped off the steering shaft grommet, ran the wires, and left the grommet. Wires are fine, but have been riding against the edge of the sheet metal for about a year now. 🙄 need to figure something out. May just slit the grommet and move the wires to the middle with the shaft. Can't believe there's no better route for a factory accessory.

That just means they did a poor job on the installation. They should have pulled the wires through the grommet itself. Good thing you noticed it though, now you could fix before you have short.

Agreed, but it doesn't look like there's room to pull the plugs through the grommet.

Curious how it's been done on others.

That's what I did when I installed my Amp steps. Just poked a hole half-way across the grommet and ran the wires through.

20 or so years ago I had a friend who's dad was a Sheriff. His dad told us to either spend the money on a Valentine One or don't bother getting one at all.

They make pin removal tools. You remove the plastic connector, run wires through, and reinstall.

Valentine One V1G2 or Uniden R8 are the best out right now hands down.

Yes, that is an option I may consider, but again, this is a factory accessory. Seems they'd come up with a better way.

Got the Pedal Monster on at lunch. First thought was seriously, you couldn't make the OBD adapter cord point back? Oh, well. (My buddy suggested a splitter. I'll look.) Since most go with City 10, I did as well and took off to get my daughter. I'm guessing this is a muscle memory thing, because I couldn't keep from spinning the tires... dirt or pavement. So, set it down to City 5. That seemed to help. Then I remembered you can "dampen" the effect below 10mph. So, I went back to City 10 with the least amount of dampening, but that was after I was in the garage.

but as far as that dead spot when first pushing the pedal, it seems to be gone. Now I'm Just hesitant to spin the 33's.

And completely off subject, I found out pedals aren't part of the memory seats.

i bought a Escort Passport 8500 about 13 years ago and that thing saved my *** countless times; usually cops hide behind something on ramp so approaching drivers won't see them till they pass the ramp, and by that time it'd be too late. My detector would pick up the radar signal aimed ahead, giving me ample time to slow down. Now I put it in my M car and even with the M I don't speed as much anymore.

When I'm the only vehicle around then I slow down and enjoy the scenery.

Lol, I had one and I know what you mean I hate the way it faces in the OBD port. If you try Sport mode it’s pretty wild and Track mode is just ridiculous.
