Google maps is good for speed traps as well. It either one is only as good as the people making the reports. If someone reports a speed trap, and the cop moves, but nobody cancels the speed trap it won't be accurate
I cancel them out if no cop in the area. Sometimes they get marked in spots where people are pulled over and then gone shortly after. Running on the freeway daily I find more often than not the Waze alerts are very accurate.

Always love it when some jackwagon tailgates, flys by and then I see a cop ahead on the map……….busted……😆

What RD are you using?
Mines not new. Had it a few years now but it works well with advance notice. Mine is a Beltronics RX 65. It’s the same as the Passport Escort. I get the odd false alert, but until they actually come up with a better way to detect Laser, I don’t see any need to change It

I do a lot of highway driving. My radar detector saves me a ticket about 3 times a week!

Why not just drive a max of 5 MPH over the speed limit? You wouldn't ever have to worry about getting a speeding ticket, you'd save $700, and you wouldn't have a bunch of clutter in your windshield.

I picked up a 3D printed aux switch mount on Etsy last month and the quality was so good that I hit up the seller with another idea I had. I asked him to make a console insert with cup holders similar to how the Ford trucks have 4 cupholders up front, and he knocked it out of the park! He’s selling the removable inserts now on his page and has a 10% off coupon SAVE10NOW that works on all his products. This is not an affiliate link and I don’t get any compensation for sales, so please don’t take down the post moderators - I’m simply showcasing a cool product and showing them a discount code. I know when I used to travel a lot for my job, it would be fairly common for me to be much more than 5 over the speed limit. After 4-6 straight hours of driving 2 and four lane highways with next to no traffic, suddenly there would be a patrol car with radar.... not a very judicious use of taxpayer money, so if they pulled you over you were getting a ticket.

That really didn't answer his question. In that instance, even with a radar detector, you were getting caught. And if the officer caught you speeding and issued a ticket, then he was doing his job and the taxpayer money was used properly.

In the city, I don’t speed. On the highway, a different story especially on a long trip. I am a conscientious driver though.(that goes over the posted speed LOL)
Just my way. And I understand that may not be for you.
As for windshield clutter, I don’t have any. I don’t like an obstructed view. Even with both a radar detector and a dash cam. The radar detector sits low close to the dash and just above my windshield wipers and my dashcam sits high and behind my rear view mirror. Both hardwired without a bunch of exposed cabling.

Meanwhile VA cops run around with radar detector detectors and will literally tear your vehicle apart if they think if you have one because their detector picked up a radar detector in your pack of cars and you were the one they decided to grab.

We're also the only state that will put you in jail just for exceeding the speed limit but let repeat DUI offenders run free because remember kids, speed kills but drunk drivers don't.

Man I wish there was a way to modify the Limited tray to the Laramie. I miss my big space there!

I hear ya. They are especially busy at the end of the month trying to reach their quota and fill the coffers with $$$.
Radar detectors are legal in Western Canada, but not East of Saskatchewan. Radar Jammers aren’t legal anywhere in Canada I believe.

There is lol just swap to a Laramie tray. You’ll just be trading off the closing cupholder lid for a slightly bigger cubby.

This is me I travel through 4-5 states every other week for work and driving anywhere from 3-7 hours away on these 2 & 4 lane highways it’s easy to go 10 over especially late at night trying to get back home or next hotel. It’s saved my butt countless times. It’s not for everyone and I’m not promoting people getting them but for me in my application it works. I’m not some crazy 20 year old kid flying around erratically lol I’m just a hard working family man trying to take care of my family and paying bills.

The time you "save" by speeding isn't really worth it. You go 10 over speed limit vs 5 over speed limit. On a 4 hour trip you might save 20 minutes. Plus the stress of watching for cops hoping your $200+ radar detector saves you. And if it doesn't there goes all that time saved.

5-7 over w/ cruise control on is the sweet spot for not getting pulled over. Never needed a radar detector and I travel several states throughout the year for work. Plus one look at the gas gauge and is a quick reminder but then again a lot of my drives are several several hours long so that 30 mins I might save won’t make a difference.

Oh I lied… when that coffee hits and I need to make it to a rest area or truck stop quick that 5-7mph over goes down the drain.

Lol, that’s why you buy a “Batman detector” to hand over to the cop so you don’t give your good one to them. Just a cheap POS radar detector (in VA). What’s stupid to me is that Radar Detectors are Illegal in VA but Laser Jammers are not… lol

That’s a matter of perspective 20 minutes means something to me maybe not to you but that just my opinion everyone has one. I have 0 stress worrying about cops because my detector will pick it up way before they can ever clock me or much less see me. While there are A LOT of good cops out there.. there are some real AH’s as well and I’ve literally gotten a ticket for going 4 mph over the speed limit story gets more interesting but nobody want to read my biography.

Valentine used to be the best. It saved me many times driving between NorCal, SoCal, and Vegas. This was pre even early Waze days. Is the Valentine still a thing? Anyone still using it?
