I finally got around to finishing up my Airlift 1000 install inside my Maxtrac lowering springs. Hooked it up to the Load Controller analog compressor and decided to throw in some Rough Country wheel well liners. The liners were definitely the most annoying thing I did.

Started some spring cleaning on my truck. Hopefully it will be warm for a couple days so I can fit in a hand wash. Driving to the ice rink for 3-4 days a week with my kids for 6 months has done a number on it ha. I'm looking forward to the day when they have vehicles of their own. I'm dumping goldfish crackers all over their floor, too!

Well, I TRIED to replace my UCA's with the Rough Country UCA's to go with my 3" spacers. Only issue was I could NOT get the ball joint to separate from the knuckle. Tried everything I could with the tools I had on hand and it simply would not budge. Ordered a pickle fork set and ball joint separator tool to try again this evening. Hopefully those tools will do the trick and the control arms will be on in no time.

I MUST get the new UCA's on by tomorrow night so I can get an alignment Thursday. We are going camping Friday and need the truck in perfect order to tow the camper.

You make me laugh. I don't know if my sons would notice or just eat them as snacks. They're really not that bad but sure do not take after the old man's "tidy" habits.

You make me laugh. I don't know if my sons would notice or just eat them as snacks. They're really not that bad but sure do not take after the old man's "tidy" habits.

I was taught at a young age to take care of my vehicles by my old man. I keep trying to teach my own, but they're young yet, it happens. At least it was nothing that doesn't clean up easily. My kids take care of interiors about as well as they're mother .

hahaha well it's the 4's and 9 right now, so if they don't turn it around for a while you might get to come in betwixt the goal posts. (if that's still a thing with all the construction over there the past couple years. haha)

Not today, but this weekend, I took my truck camping. Or, she took me camping.

My plan was to go to some of the more gnarly forest service roads to give the new tires and suspension a test. But, my wife decided to stay home because our older dog is recovering from an injury.

My wife likes truck camping and shorter hikes. I like backpacking and hikes of 10 miles a day and up. So, my one year old Australian Cattle Dog mix and I went to one of my favorite spots, the Chattooga River and Foothills Trails in South Carolina, just across the Georgia border.

A Prius could make it to this trailhead, so the suspension and tires were not put to the test in the slightest. He hiked a total of 18 miles in two days. The river and weather were beautiful (though it got cold overnight; a low of 24°F). No pictures of the truck this trip, but here are a few from the trail.

I’m still waiting to give the Foxes and Yokohamas a good test. Oh, I did give them somewhat of an MPG test, averaging just over 16 MPG, mostly on interstates and country highways. This was after calibrating for the new tire size via Tazer DT. Not too bad.

Just need a bigger hammer the way it sounds. Loosen nut in ball joint to the end of the threads, but don't remove completely. Smack the **** out of the knuckle where the ball joint sits until it pops loose. Remove nut rest of the way.

That pickle fork will destroy the boots on the ball joints.

Yup, Beat it like it owes you money. I definitely wouldn't be using a pickle fork.

I was beating on it with a 4 lb sledge and it still wouldn't budge. There was enough force that it has left permanent dents in the knuckle. I spent almost 2 hours fighting with just one side before calling it a night.

I am not worried about damaging the boots. I have already beat the **** out of the UCA and will not be re-using them anyway (they have got to be severely compromised after the beating I laid down last night). Just need to get them off the truck so the new ones can go on.

Then use a small butane torch and heat the knuckle and pound on the ball joint from the bottom. The aluminum knuckle will expand faster then the ball joint.
