What did you do to your Ram today???

Added airlift HD airbags to the Rebel, hard to see because they are black. Major PITA as with the axle at full droop with shocks and sway bar disconnected the springs are still compressed. Even took the brake calipers off and couldn’t get the axle to drop further. Used a ratchet strap to compress the springs an inch to get them out and then used a three pry bar shimmy to get them back in with a safety strap in case they decided it wasn’t time.

Also put the bakflip G2 tonneau cover from my fourth gen, that i traded in, on the new truck. The bed opening seems to be about a 1/2” longer than the 4th gen so it was difficult to position the cover properly to cover both ends, front and back. Got it, and despite the cover being 9 years old it still does the job, hail dents and all.

Well, thanks for being a buzzkill lol. I’m hoping to put my 1000HDs in this weekend using a buddy’s lift. Was hoping it would go pretty smooth. Guess we will just have to see. How are you liking them so far?

In order to drop the axle enough to pull the springs out you have to unbolt lower shock bolts, sway bar and one side of the traction bar. Once all these are removed then you can lower the axle enough just watch your brake/abs lines. There are a couple of bolts/hangers you can undo to get a few inches of slack on the lines. Not hard just have to remove the right things. A lift will certainly make things much easier. Just don't drop your axle!!

Put on toyo proxes st3 255/60/18f / 285/60/18r

You don’t need to remove the springs to install. There is a video how to for it.

I jacked the body up with a floor Jack at the hitch receiver. Folded the bags up like a taco and zip tied them. Put the upper cups in the top seat cup, then slid the bags between the coil.

I also ran the air line in the inside of the bed through one of the rivnut holes so I didn’t drill in the bumper.

Windows tinted yesterday, 20% front and back.

I installed the RC 2" leveling kit this morning 😎

A lift would make it easier. The brake lines were at max stretch that I was comfortable with and the springs were still compressed so I had to take the calipers off. I think the track bar was the limiting factor for droop but didn’t want to mess with it. If you are putting the truck on a lift drop the spare first, it’ll make routing and access to the track bar much easier.

Question regarding your AJT knobs - how long did it take you to get yours? I ordered mine 12 days ago, they already took my money and the order is stuck in perpetual 'Awaiting Processing' status. Emailed the guy, ZERO response. Just curious. Thx.
Mine was backordered, took 2 months

+1. No need to remove the springs.

I was going do the whole folded like a taco and zip tie, but ended up just feeding them in there. Pretty easy.

Been working on my own stuff for over 30 years. Three other Dodges, a Chevy, a Toyota, and a couple random cars. Did a normal early first oil change today.

This is by far the worst location for an oil filter that I've encountered on a truck. If it isn't fixed before I need another truck, I'm choosing a different brand. The rigamarole to change the headlight bulbs was bad enough. All just more evidence of companies not wanting their vehicles to be user serviced. May be petty, but this is a dealbreaker.

Also-**** the factory that obviously spins these on dry and tight.

Normal filter wrenches wouldn't work/ripped holes in the filter, my claw/plier wrench wouldn't grip hard enough/ripped more holes in the filter, strap wrench-lol no, had to break out the chain wrench.

My filter came off pretty easy when I did my first oil change. Engine was warm, and I used a strap wrench. Also used the bag method and didn't make much mess. Installed a fumoto valve last lil change to get rid of the sway bar oil splitter.

Went to Southern Plains Mopar Fest this weekend in Noble, OK. Had a good time and took home 2nd place in the Truck/Jeep bracket class, which netted me a nice $250 in prize money. Went down with three other trucks from Nebraska Ram Club, and a few from Texas Ram Club came up as well

I personally don't really like the look of the badge on the hood (on the sides--says Hemi or EcoDiesel.) Can they be removed easily? I'd keep them for whoever has the truck after me. Did you remove those with just the fishing line? What did you use for the adhesive? GooGone?
Unfortunately the hood badging have 2 alignment holes so if you remove them, you'll have an indent where they were plus the 2 holes. You can have yours painted or to match your truck, that'll make them less obvious.
As far as the adhesive, after using the fishing line, it removed some letters with the adhesive still attached. I passed a heat gun across the badging first since it was a cool day it helps keep the adhesive soft. Being a factory order the badging wasn't on the truck long at all. Whatever adhesive that remained on the truck would peel off like rubber cement. And like you said, any stubborn adhesive comes off easily with goo gone.

Had the Bilsteins installed on the front and set to 2" lift and the Motofab spacers on the back at 1.5". Stance of the truck looks much better now. Rides as little rougher now but I like it, that's how a truck is supposed to feel.

Nice looking ride! What brand fender flares are those?
If i am not mistaken those are Bushwacker fender flares, you can get them paint matched from them, with the trim piece and bolts installed at the factory, all you have to do is install them. about $725. for the set. Well worth it too.
