Western Plow Mount for 2019 5th Gen Ram 1500 (New Body Style With Splayed Frame Rails

33950 WESTERN MOUNT 2019+ DODGE RAM 1500 ULTRAMOUNT

I purchased the truck mount and plug and play wiring harness from:

The mount was a perfect fit and the wiring harness for the LED lights was truly plug and play. received within two days of placing the order. The sales rep Anna was very friendly & knowledgable. I highly recommend Storks Plows to everyone.

The only difficulty was the removal & re installation of the front bumper. Ram added a piece of rubber between the upper portion of the bumper and the lower grill area of the truck.

To remove the bumper the only thing that needs to be removed to get it off of the truck are the six R & L bumper bolts, and the large multi pin plug located on the driver's side between the front bumper and driver's side wheel area. Once those have been removed you will have to pull firmly on the bumper to remove it and also to re install it. In regards to everything else simply follow the provided instructions.
 
I thought plows weren't recommended on the new 1500s due to the airbag sensors. Did they have to do anything to disable them or change the sensitivity?
 
I will try to post pics within the next few days. The other thing that was removed from the truck was the automatic air dam for clearance purposes. Note, that it did not throw a code after it was removed. nor did it change the vehicles engine temp or gas mileage. In regards to the airbag issue, I don't believe that western would have put the mount into production if it was a safety issue. T

STARTING AND OPERATING WARNING! Attaching a snowplow to this vehicle could adversely affect performance of the airbag system in a collision. Do not expect that the airbag will perform as described earlier in this manual.
CAUTION! Using this vehicle for snowplow applications can cause damage to the vehicle.

Thats been said about the Ram 1500, and all other 1500 models since airbags first became available in them. That being said, if you don't feel comfortable mounting a plow to your own Ram or any other 1500 don't.

This is my 5th Ram 1500 Ram with a Western plow. No issues, and yes, one of them was involved in a frontal collision and the airbags did deploy as advertised.

I have never had any issues with the driveline, frame or suspension or anything else.

I just took a look at their 'site, I didn't see any mounted - Which I think is what he means!
(What does it look like mounted to the truck, for "how low does that sit?/hang down" purposes)

Very interesting, The airbag sensor situation gets discussed in about every Ram1500 plow thread, on every web board.
The airbag sensors get discussed, as do fears of the power steering system going haywire, and a few other concerns.
There's an unsaid feeling that the guys who are mounting them anyway had a, (again forgive me here I'm joking), "Please, I put extra cigarette butts on my breakfast steak and donut sandwiches" feeling.
A lot of people didn't want to try it and roll the dice

Hearing from a guy that:
a) Installed a plow on our 2019 truck
b) Bought it from someone who intended it for that purpose, and it fit without remodeling everything underneath it
c) Has plowed with many 1500 trucks
d) Got in a collision with one, and the airbags deployed, the very thing we were worried about
Is super interesting.

Grab a snickers brother, I'm thinking you might end up getting a ton of questions!!
You have experience, and there's people who wanna know about this one
 
Could you take a picture of how the mounts came through the front skirting below the bumper? Just wondering how large of an area I may have to cut out. Looking to move a Western plow from a 4th generation to a 5th generation. I have had this one installed on the 4th gen for two years with no issues.

I love how the plow looks!

I had read somewhere that plows weren't recommended on 5th gen's because of the splayed frame rails, which are designed to crumple in a offset collision. I figured it was only a matter of time before the aftermarket figured out a way to mitigate that concern. Too much of a market opportunity.

I hope it works out well for you.

I'll try to post some pics soon, the mounts will look the same as on the 4th gen Ram. The mounts will protrude slightly out from under the bumper. When I installed mine I removed the useless power air dam and the plastic/rubber valance under the bumper, you will not even note that it's missing. "Note" that the mount from your 4th gen Ram will "NOT" fit on the 5th gen Ram because the 5th gen Ram has splayed frame rails. You will have to buy a new mount.
