So I renamed the Thread Title-
The truck died on me yesterday and needed to be towed off the interstate. Mileage is now at 873. Was driving in very early yesterday and truck went into limp mode. I also got a message in the cluster that Active Tuned Module was either not ready, or not available- I do not remember which it was. I could maintain a highway speed, but when it came to hills, I was doing 45, with no acceleration. I thought maybe it just needed a restart, but as long as it kept running I'd rather wait until I got into work parking lot rather than try on the side of highway.
I got to work, and I could hear it rattling when I pressed the gas, and then rattling as I backed off the gas. It was NOT the same sound as I heard at beginning of month. I google searched the message in the cluster and did not find much about it. I gave the service manager a heads up via email and told him I'd try driving it there(15 to 20 minutes).
Truck died in the middle lane of the interstate...I-495 south in Tewksbury. No noises when it died, it smoked under the hood when stopped and I could smell burning electronics, or so I thought.
I just got email from the service manager...
"Good afternoon,
We did order an Engine and we are working with FCA to find out how and why the engine failed, the tone wheel on the crankshaft came apart and wedged itself in to crank journal."
I then asked him to tell me more on what the replacement engine was... rebuilt or new... long block or short block. I was told its a brand new long block.
The journey continues...
