I have seen a number of banks offer $1K discount, I have the $1K certificate from USAA. How do these work, do you have to use their buying service to get the discount?

My wife just did it on her new order car. All the dealership has to do is pull up USAA while you're sitting there and go through the initial steps of the car buying service. It will give them essentially a coupon code and the dealer can take off the $1k. Or if you already have the code from the certificate you're good to go. Just give it to the guy when you go in.

Is it only good if you use the buying service?

Ah, bummer, it's only good for purchases and not for leases. Crud...

I used that certificate when I bought my truck. Be aware that if you are military you cannot combine the two discounts. It's one or the other. Saying that it was better for me to use the certificate for 1k vs $500 for being military.

Did you use the USAA True Car service to buy it or did you negotiate on your own and use it?

No I waited until we were getting ready to do the paperwork and "remembered" that I had the discount code in my email. I was able to get the truck a little cheaper just negotiating on my own.

I used it for my purchase as well. I negotiated on my own but used the true car price as a reference. It does cancel out the 500 military discount but 1000 is better than 500. Something I am still unsure about is that they told me I couldn’t use my 500 Ram Cash with it which I am not sure is right. Maybe @RamCares knows the answer to that one.

I just spoke with a dealer friend, he said the certificate cancels out another discount, so its really worth $500

Still curious about the Ram Cash as the email states “on top of virtually all other current incentives.”

The USAA discount, for those eligible, is on top of any other appicable rebates. I got the Mopar $3k discount and my USAA $1k discount. And, yes, I negotiated the price off MSRP separately.

I think my dealer used my USAA $1000 rebate but I’m not certain. In negotiations we agreed on an amount with all rebates I could get applied. Specially told him $45,500 OTD with everything included; TTL, rebates, etc. The dealer did tell me you couldn’t stack the $500 military and the USAA early on but honestly I have zero clue as to which rebates they applied as my paperwork stated $4000 in rebates but I never provided my USAA member number or certificate... I have never used the car buying service through USAA as I have always found a dealer will beat the price.

Hello Douglas31,
I am not familiar with RAM cash but I am more than willing to look into it. Can you PM me picture of the front and back of the document.

I used it on mine and it was great to have as a random benefit.

But you are able to use the Sams club 500 off and the PenFed 1,000 off coupon along with the USAA 1,000 off, FYI .

That’s very interesting... I have both the Sams and the PenFed certificates and my dealer said only one (they are both using the Truecar buying service, same as USAA as I understand it). Where / when were you able to use all of these together?

This is also what I was told. Only one TDM type coupon which is what they all are. Even if you got a ram mailer from FCA it would only be one of any of them.

Why can't you stack military with the USAA discount? The military discount is from FCA the USAA discount is a benefit from USAA directly. Any info on this?
